Kelly Harms has released some great books in the past. So I was super excited for a new upcoming novel.
This book was fun and I enjoyed this read a lot!
Wherever the Wind Takes Us is a well written book that you will fall in love with.
The characters were amazing and relatable. Harms did an awesome job connecting the characters together, they’re well designed and interact beautifully.
Amazing. Funny. Heartwarming. This is a lighthearted, fast, easy read I enjoyed this one immensely. I finished in less than two day's! So good!
An entertaining and engaging story overall. I recommend adding it to your list of summer reads.

This was a really sweet story. I enjoyed the mother and daughter relationship and their boat journey together. I liked both characters and their story of finding their way in life and what will be next for them.

*minor spoilers ahead*
Newly divorced and basically penniless, 40-something Becca and her college daughter Liv embark on a new adventure, quite literally. Becca is left with only a boat and resentment from her divorce, so together mother and daughter decide to sail it down the coast, where a buyer is waiting for them. This journey will be the perfect time to spend some quality bonding time together.

I really wanted to love this one. One of the author’s previous books, the Overdue Life of Amy Byler, was an easy 5 star read for me! The cover and synopsis drew me in, but unfortunately, I DNF’d this one just over 60% of the way in.

What I enjoyed:
* I enjoyed the storyline of Becca getting out of a loveless marriage and the emphasis on searching for adventure and finding herself after sacrificing who she was for the last twenty years.
* I love stories about mother/daughter relationships. I love stories about a spontaneous adventure. So combine those two things and I am sold!

What didn’t work for me:
* The whole relationship triangle situation between mother, daughter, and Grant felt very weird to me. It felt a little ick that a love interest for the mom would be the daughter’s ex-boyfriend. But then Becca learns they didn’t actually date and decides he’s not off limits after all. And even though Liv had confided in her mother that she felt like she loved him, Becca decides it’s okay for her to pursue since they didn’t actually date.
* Too much boat talk. I understand including some, but I found myself skimming those sections and even skipping over them entirely.
* Not much mother/daughter bonding or relationship development seems to happen before Liv leaves the boat half way through the book. Maybe she comes back, but when I stopped at 60%, the story didn’t feel like there was any focus on that relationship, which was a bummer because that’s why I picked it it up.

I think multiple POVs would have worked really well with this story! I may come back to this to see if any of my issues are resolved in the end, but for now, it isn’t for me.

I absolutely love this character driven story. It has a first rate plot and characters that really drive it home. Be prepared to get swept up into this novel.

A deep story in parts with a mother’s love and a terrible x husband but brilliant descriptions of the sailing. Money does not buy happiness . A great ending. A very good read
