I loved this book. It’s the story of a newly divorced woman named Becca in her early 40s, who divorced her husband based on his bad behavior, and ended up with his 40 foot sailboat in the settlement. Unfortunately, she doesn’t know how to sail.
Her daughter Olivia has taken lessons in college from a handsome 26 year old Irish sailor named Grant, and she’s pretty confident she can sail the boat with her mom to Florida to be sold. However, they get into a lot trouble and she calls Grant to help them out, then leaves her mom and goes back to Maine.
Grant insists on teaching Becca to sail, and as the trip advances down the East Coast, she’s getting pretty good. She and Grant are very attracted to each other, although she’s worried about their age difference. He’s an old soul but only 26.
I’ve been an avid sailor since I was a child, although it’s been a while. The discussion of how the boat behaves in the wind etc. instantly put me at the helm behind the wheel. The description of sailing the boat through heavy seas and swells brought back many happy memories.
The plot is entertaining and the ending was great. I recommend this book, 4 stars.

This was a great story about a women finding herself as she makes the difficult decision to start again. It also shows how her and her daughter learned from each other and grew closer and more mature as they sailed the boat together. Great read. Very enjoyable.

I enjoyed this book except there was just a bit too many sailing/sailboat terms. I got lost in the technical jargon and had to jump a paragraph or two a few times.
I really liked watching Becca become more knowledgeable about her on self and her wants/needs. There was at least once toward the end when I had a few tears for what she was going through. The ending was perfect!

Kelly Harms is a phenomenal writer. I loved the story and all its particulars. I was captivated by the twists and turns of Rebecca's dilemma and by the sailing adventure from Maine to Florida. What an incredible women's fiction novel with an engaging protagonist.

Oh how I absolutely adored Wherever the Wind Takes Us! Kelly Harms has written such a wonderful story here that truly inspired me and which I walked away from having gained something. This is a second-chance romance and even more so, a story of resilience, overcoming obstacles, courage, strength, purpose, and hope. It was so enjoyable to come alongside Becca and I admired the strong woman she was!

One thing about the story that totally surprised me in how much I enjoyed it was the sailing/boats element. It felt so fresh and unique and was the perfect fit here. I never realized how much there was it know about it, but it was so fun to learn about and delve into!

With excellent writing, likeable characters, wonderful storytelling, and a whole lot of heart, this book really did have it all. It was so delightful to get lost in and was the perfect read to escape into! Highly recommend to fellow fans of women’s fiction and romance!

I love anything by Kelly Harms so I was so excited to read this and she does not disappoint with this adorable story. Such a fun read and even a fun plot twist at the end which was great! If you haven't read anything by her before, do yourself a favor and add her to your must read list.

Absolutely delightful read!! I was really excited about this book due to the main premise being on a sailboat and venturing down the each coast. I took a semester at sea during college we went from New York down to Miami.

This book has sailing, adventure, romance and a new start on life. Becca is coming out of a 20 year divorce and in the settlement received their sailboat. She sells it and has to get it to Miami to the buyer. Her daughter, Olivia and her venture out on sailboat to make the journey. After the first stop Liv brings in a young experienced sailor, Grant.

This is just a cute get over your divorce and have a good time book. I enjoyed the writing and the story was quick enough it kept my attention.

This was a lovely story of growth and rediscover. After ending her unhappy 20 year marriage to a very wealthy man, Becca finds herself in her early 40's with no idea of what direction she wants her life to go in. Because of a prenuptial agreement, Becca has very little to her name, except for the beautiful boat her husband once named for her. Deciding to throw caution to the wind, she and her 21 year old daughter decide to sail the boat from Maine to Miami to sell her. Becca meets Grant, an Irishman who knows about sailing and enlists in his help to sell the boat. With Grant's help the sale is made and Becca's journey to self discovery begins. I don't know a thing about sailing, but I do know what life in your 40's is like and the shift from taking care of everyone and thing to taking care of yourself. In this story, Becca must reconfigure her relationships with her daughter and ex and herself... and deal with a handsome younger man. This was my first book by this author and won't be my last! Thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

Let me start by saying I am not a romance fan but I wanted to give this a chance and I am sorry to say I did not like it at all. It was so stereotypical of every romance book that I have read. The actual story might be different but the premise is the same. It feels flat and boring and like the characters dont have depth. I tried to enjoy it and it just wasnt it.

A great second chance novel! This is the perfect light summertime read. I really enjoyed seeing the relationship between Becca and Olivia evolve.

I think I am not the right audience for this. It is receiving great reviews online which should listened to. I couldn't connect with our main character, so I didn't much care for anything that happened to her/for her. I would recommend this to someone looking for a story of finding ourselves after divorce, or even fans of Younger.

Wherever the Wind Takes Us is a quick read that features strong women who have to batten down life’s hatches and make some waves to get results. There were times throughout the story both women annoyed me a bit, both separately and as a unit. In these moments it was hard to determine who was the mother and who was the daughter as both came across childish and whiny. There also was a lot of boating terminology in this book. You might feel that makes sense considering the story, in large part, takes place on a boat. But for two women who didn’t know much about sailing, their confidence in vernacular seemed a bit off course.

In the end, this is a swell story about women reinventing themselves, reminding the reader that sometimes you have to go bottoms up before you can get to life’s higher ground.

This book was not a favorite. I was hoping the wind would take us to the end of the book faster. This book was so slow moving and uninteresting. I hated the mother/daughter relationship. I hated the romance. The sailing details were monotonous. I found nothing interesting.

Great story. Filled with sorrow, recovery, then excitement.if you like to hear about sailor adventures combined with romance and a perfect ending that I won’t give away, this is the book for you!

I have found that novels by Kelly Harms are always fun, with interesting, likeable characters and storylines that will hook you from the beginning. WHEREVER THE WIND TAKES US stays true to form, and I found myself reaching for the book whenever I had a spare minute because I had to know what was going to happen next. Becca walked away from her marriage, wanting nothing, expecting nothing. When the judge realizes that the sailboat bearing her name is an asset not included on any of the agreements, he happily awards it to her. Becca is broke and has no clue how she is going to maintain a boat she can’t even sail. Selling it is the obvious answer, as it would give her money for the quiet future she has planned. Even better, to save money, she convinces her daughter, who does sail, that it would be the perfect girls’ trip adventure. What could go wrong? When things don’t go as planned, her daughter decides to bail, leaving calling in the hunky sailing instructor to finish the journey for them. Becca refuses to give up, deciding to continue with Grant Murphy, whom she is also attracted to, but hesitant to act, not only is he younger, but her daughter implies that he’s also her ex.
Becca’s second act didn’t go quite as she thought it would. Her daughter wasn’t handling the divorce well, so the trip was supposed to be fun and a chance for them to reconnect, instead it becomes her growth journey, as Grant teaches her to become a sailor and, in the process, she finds the person she forgot she was and a strength she didn’t know she had. She finds that some things aren’t as she thought, and she also finds that she doesn’t know her daughter as well as she thought she did. Will she take a chance and follow her heart into new adventures? Will she let Grant be a part of them? Becca shines in this book. She got lost in her marriage and once she had a chance, she rediscovered the person she lost. Will it be enough to overcome her fears and follow her heart into a new adventure? Harms writes with wit and Becca is someone that I would love to get to know. Put this one on your TBR list!
