One Night in Edinburgh is a romantic whirlwind of a book! While I'm not typically a big fan of insta-love, Steph and Jamie had my heart and I was rooting for them the entire time. With all the twists and turns, it wasn't a typical romance book but hit deeper notes about social class and family that I appreciated. I was and still am a bit unsure of the ending but have accepted it! Thank you NetGalley and Canelo for the advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

Requested this arc due to the setting – Edinburgh is my home city. I did really enjoy the setting but that was about it. I understand what Kaye was trying to do with the narrative of this, but the writing left me wanting. The characters were all fairly thinly drawn, and it falls into a sector of books where everyone (aside from the token few rude but ultimately decent people) is just so nice but not interesting and the dialogue doesn’t sound like anything anyone’s ever said. It wasn’t for me but I’d recommend for anyone who enjoys a cosy read.

One Night in Edinburgh is a cute, refreshing, insta-love rom-com, where Edinburgh is one of the main protagonist, thanks to Nina Kaye's atmospheric descriptions and some quirky local details of the city.

After breaking up with her long-term boyfriend, Steph meets a charming and funny a new guy, Jamie, at the Hogsmanay celebrations and sparks fly. The day after, however, she has no idea how to get in touch with him and starts a desperate search for him, through questionable and quite entertaining attempts. Steph is close to losing hope and moving on when the two are finally reunited and the two become inseparable. Jamie, however, is concealing a secret of which he's deeply ashamed and that'll drive the two apart.

The cast of characters is great, namely Connor and Anna, Steph's best friends and I wish we saw more of them, especially Connor's queer journey.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a cute, insta-love rom-com with some deeper themes and an atmospheric Edinburghian setting.

Nina Kaye's One Night in Edinburgh is a cute romance about a girl, Steph, who meets the man of her dreams on New Year's Eve, but loses contact with him after their first encounter. She does everything she can to find him, but when they finally reunite, she questions whether he really is the man she thought he was.
I really enjoyed reading this book, and it was a sweet romance! The love story was cute, and you got all the lovely feelings of reading a romance novel without having too much spice and graphic depictions you encounter in other romance novels.

After breaking up with her long term boyfriend, Steph wanders through Edinburgh on Hogmanay, until she meets Jamie. He is engaging and attractive and soon, they find themselves spending the night together. But when her ex-boyfriend returns home, Jamie leaves and soon Steph realises that they have not swapped details. So Steph decides to track him via a milk carton style campaign. When they are finally reunited, Jamie seems to be evasive, only wanting to meet up on weekends. Soon, Steph wonders whether her heart will be broken again. However, Jamie has a secret that could possibly destroy their future happiness, leaving her to wonder whether all she will have is one night in Edinburgh or a long term future with Jamie.
This was a great story with a twist, that totally threw me yet fully explained the story. Both Jamie and Steph, are multi-layered characters who had such great depth to them. Without revealing the plot, all I can say is that this was great read, yet brought with it, a story that will leave you thinking after the last page is read.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and Canelo. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Cute, enjoyable, and fun, if a little bit unbelievable. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy!

The setting for this book was a treat, and the descriptions of the fun at Hogmanay were appealing. I also loved the description of Steph (who works for a local nonprofit) trying to politely escape an overly long visit to a lonely donor.

However, the initial set of events that spark Steph's quest for the elusive Jamie grew so unbelievable that the "willing suspension of disbelief" was lost. That Steph so easily accepted the end of a many-years-long relationship and transitioned within 24 hours to a platonic friendship and cohabitation was unconvincing.

I would be interested in trying other titles by this author.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book in return for my honest opinion. Thank you to Nina Kaye and Canelo for giving me the opportunity to read One Night In Edinburgh before its release.
Steph’s long term relationship breaks down at Hogmanay and she finds herself unexpectedly single during the celebrations. Attempting to make the most of the party with her friend Anna, Steph runs into Jamie; a man that embodies right person wrong time to Steph. He seems perfect and the pair have a night that she simply cannot get into her head. When a hasty departure leaves the pair separated with no way of contacting each other, the night SHOULD be left in the past; but Steph is nothing if not stubborn.
With a somewhat ludicrous and flawed wild scheme to find him again, Steph soon finds out that not everything is as it seems as they try to make a relationship work. Not only does she have to juggle her career and working out why Jamie is seemingly only available on the weekends, but she has to cope with the constant struggle of her judgemental and overbearing family.
Fair warning, this book is a fade to black incase anyone comes into it expecting spice, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I’ll admit I found Steph to be frustrating a lot of the time; while I respected her career and I empathised with her family struggles, I did feel she went rather over the top in her relationship with Jamie.
Honestly I didn’t expect the ending; though looking back I really should have given all the clues and context throughout. I did really like her ex Cam however and I enjoyed their interactions after their breakup. I was really glad to see his progression throughout the book.
This book gave me Heartbones vibes, which is in no way a bad thing!

What a sweet and heartfelt book! This book is primarily about Steph whose heart is broken right before Hogmanay, aka the last day of the year. Right when she thought everything was going to her plan, it all gets turned upside down!

Steph may be a bit naive, but things went her way for a long time so that’s to be expected. Her strength and clarity is admirable, and I loved how much she values giving back to people and giving respect no matter your status.

The book dives into some tough social class issues and I found them to be handled respectfully and in an informative manner. I always appreciate when a book can so seamlessly teach you something.

You’ll have to read it to find out if her Hogmanay fling works out!

Thank you to @netgalley and the publisher Canelo for the opportunity to read this book. The review expresses my own personal opinions.

I will be honest the title of this book captured my attention, Edinburgh is on my list of places to travel to! This book was very well written with a good setting, likeable characters and easy reading! The only downside for me was the slowness of the novel, in some parts it was very slow and I struggled to stay focused

I really enjoyed Steph’s character, I feel her pain when an out-of-the-blue revelation shifts her whole world, and so happy for her when a New Years Eve encounter promises serious romantic sparks. The romance is there between Steph and Jamie but it was the mystery between them and waiting for them to be together that kept me reading. Steph and Jamie were characters with genuine personalities which made them likeable.

Thank you NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review of the book it’s a 3/5 for me 🌟

It would be hard not to feel for Steph when her relationship ends unexpectedly on Hogmanay of all days. When she is persuaded to go to the Street Party in Princes Street by her friend Anna, she meets the gorgeous Jamie and despite her recent heartbreak, there is most definitely a spark. After a night to remember, they go their separate ways with seemingly no way to get in touch. If fate brought Steph and Jamie together on Hogmanay, would fate bring them together again? I really enjoyed reading about the ways Steph tried to give fate a helping hand by visiting the area she knew he lived in, going to the pub they had gone to that night and launching a beer can campaign. It read like a rom-com film and I do think this would be a brilliant film actually.

It soon became apparent that Jamie perhaps wasn’t all he seemed and was hiding something major from Steph. Like her, I did feel he was one of life’s good guys and couldn’t imagine what his circumstances and reasons were for behaving the way he did. When all was revealed, although I was surprised, it all made perfect sense and tied in nicely with many of the themes of the book.

Steph has some great friends and Anna and Connor were excellent supporting characters. The friendship between Anna and Steph in particular was so well written. Connor and Steph’s relationship was rather unusual to say the least but I really enjoyed how it developed over the course of the book and the genuine pleasure they found in each others happiness.

Steph’s family, on the other hand, were so materialistic, really quite unpleasant and judgemental, apart from her brother Mikey. I have to say though that the family WhatsApp messages were often quite funny. I did wonder if they remembered that Steph was part of the group! 😄

I loved the setting of this one of course. The detailed mention of streets and shops, bars and buses that I’m so familiar with really brought the book to life for me. There’s something special about reading a book set somewhere you know so well. It was obvious that the author also knows Edinburgh well and hadn’t just chosen it as a nice place to set a book. A lot of it was set around north Edinburgh where I’m from. I feel that I’ll be expecting to see Steph or Jamie next time I’m passing Leith Links or walking along Duke Street!

One Night in Edinburgh is an engaging, romantic read. Meeting the right person can happen at the most unexpected of times and I really enjoyed reading about Steph and Jamie’s journey and finding out if love really does overcome all.

Thank you so much NetGalley and Canelo for the eARC of One Night in Edinburgh! Edinburgh is my favorite place in the whole world and when I saw this book I jumped at t he chance to read it. It was so wonderful to be back on the streets of Edinburgh through this book and there were many familiar places. In that I think the book succeeded.

The story however fell a bit flat for me. Jamie was wonderful and how Steph and Jamie met was cute but I don't think there was enough chemistry between Steph and Jamie or enough depth in their characters to explain the lengths Steph would go to to find Jamie again and then to ignore all the red flags flashing when they got back together. Steph felt a bit aloof and naive and I'm sorry but that part of the story just didn't feel real - or healthy - to me. I could guess the big plot twist considering Jamie before it happened so that could have been done maybe a bit better, or sooner. However, there were wonderful moments between Steph and Jamie and the story got better towards the end - and Anna and Connor were great supporting characters!

So, two and a half stars from me which I have rounded up to three. This book had great potential and while I'm sure it will totally be the cup of tea for many readers, it just wasn't that for me.

A story about a kind hearted woman who's world is turned upside down after her long time boyfriend breaks up with her. As she tries to navigate her new life she meets Jamie who she instantly fels connected to. I felt this story had many twists and turns and was pleased with how the author finished out the book.

This quirky rom com is light and fun but with a serious message at its heart. Steph and Jamie were adorable and clearly belonged together.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

The title of the book captured my attention right from the beginning. Edinburgh is one my favorite places to visit and I had to read this story. Steph and Jamie pulled on my heartstrings with the genuine personalities and how they found each other.

After breaking up with her longtime boyfriend, Steph goes to a street party in Edinburgh to get help move on. That night she meets Jamie and the two have an instant connection. But after spending the night together, Jaime leaves before they can exchange numbers. Determined to find him, she sets out on quest to do that. But Jaime has a secret of his own that she wasn't expecting.

This story was a cute romance story that definitely had heart. You could feel the connection between the two from the beginning. Steph comes from a rich family, and she works with a non-profit for a normal salary. Steph wasn't in it for the glory but to make a difference. Jamie is a good guy even if he's elusive with his past and whereabouts. There is absolutely no cheating, so I don't want anyone to that's what it is. Jaime has his reasons and I respect them. The spice is the bare minimum, so no chapters about those adventures. We get to see more of the relationship building that they have and how they lose each other but find each other again.

This book was a bit hard to get into bit Al in all it was good .

Steph and Jamie are just the perfect couple.
Steph meets Jamie on Hogmanay after her boyfriend of nine years dumps her for a man.
What starts out as a night of fun conversation turns into a whirlwind romance (well after they find each other again that is).

It was worth the read.

This was a lovely, easy read. Steph meets Jamie one night in Edinburgh on Hogmanay and they click straight away. They spend the night together and the two of them become attached until Steph senses something is wrong with Jamie, he seems to good to be true but she never finds much out about him.

A very unique story of two people who connect through a chance meeting but separate without contact info. Through a unique approach, they are reunited, bur Steph knows that he is holding some secret, causing a second split. Whole parts felt super unrealistic to me, overall I enjoyed the novel.

Huge thanks to Canelo and Nina Kaye for my E-ARC in exchange for the honest review.

One Night in Edinburgh is a charming and quick read about Steph, whose long-term boyfriend has recently left. She meets a new guy, Jamie, at a New Year's Eve party and has no idea how to reach him. Things heat up rapidly with Jamie, but he's concealing something, and Steph can't let it go.

I enjoyed seeing the descriptions of Edinburgh and the connections to several local attractions. The supporting characters contributed significantly to the story and were generally excellent. The representation of Steph's family was particularly significant since it demonstrated that not everyone has a supportive family. The connection between Steph and Connor, who is still her closest friend, is lovely, and I admire how they stay faithful to each other throughout the novel. I also thought Steph was a little naïve, which irritated me, especially at the beginning. The second half dragged a little too long, and I wasn't sure where the story was heading, which is why it seemed so long.

Overall, it's an excellent read with lots of life lessons.
