The author continues his Colter Shaw series. This case involves a mother and daughter running from an abusive husband released from jail. The twist is that it isn’t the husband trying to kill them, but her employer. It is a fast paced, fairly quick read novel.

I received a free Kindle copy of this book courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher with the understanding that I would post a review on Net Galley, Goodreads, Amazon and my nonfiction book review blog.

I love the Colter Shaw books! This is a guy you can really like and he's not perfect, but he's totally believable. He is helping a smart engineer and her daughter escape her ex-husband, just released from prison. The action never stops and the ending will blow you away. I'm still shaking my head. Highly recommend. Deaver's books are never disappointing.

Colter Shaw self made bounty hunter "of sorts" is on the hunt again. Allison Parker has disappeared with her daughter, after finding out that her abusive husband has been let out of jail early with no prior warning to her and having threatened to kill her to inmates. Shaw is on the hunt to find them before he does.
Deaver does a great job with his characters and the plot twists are intriguing. Full of twists that you simply do not see coming.
Bring on the next Shaw show👍

Colter Shaw sets out to recover a stolen piece of technology, a job that quickly expands into tracking down and protecting its inventor. Allison Parker, a brilliant engineer, is on the run because her husband was released early from prison, and word is he's going to kill her. Allison and her teenage daughter flee, pursued not just by the husband, but also by a bunch of scary bad guys. As he chases the targets, Colter teams up with his client's superwoman-type head of security. The story is expertly told (we expect no less from Jeffery Deaver) and full of suspense, action, danger, and juicy twists. Add in a dash of the ever-popular story of how a grumpy kid blossoms when forced to ditch the cell phone and learn some good old-fashioned practical skills, and we have the ingredients for an excellent thriller. Occasionally, it becomes necessary to ignore the implausible (considering her daughter just lied to her about having finished her homework, the brilliant mom is awfully trusting about the same kid’s adherence to gadget-use limitations that their *lives* depend on), but who cares? Sometimes you just have to suspend disbelief so you can enjoy the drama.

Hunting Time by Jeffery Deaver

After forty novels and numerous short stories, including the much-lauded Lincoln Rhyme series, one would believe Mr. Deaver would have exhausted his well of complex, intricate plots and magic tricks. As he proves in Hunting Time (a Coulter Shaw novel), he hasn't slowed down a bit. I read the novel courtesy of NetGalley and PenguinPutnam Publishers, in exchange for an objective review.

If you are a fan of classic, hard-boiled thrillers, you don’t want to miss reading this book. The suspense is tangible and unyielding. The plot twists and turns, with unexpected whammies and revelations. His writing is precise, his characters fascinating, and his storytelling abilities are borderline genius.

As in three previous novels, Coulter Shaw is a bounty-hunter typically chasing after bad guys who don’t want to be caught. In Hunting Time, however, Shaw is hired to find a brilliant engineer and her daughter, who have purposefully disappeared to hide from her ex-husband, an abusive cop who has promised to take his revenge on her for turning him in after a brutal assault. Making matters worse are two sadistic hit men, hired to kill the engineer and make her truly disappear. Forever.

The engineer will have none of it. She is a brilliant engineer, extremely skilled at evading her pursuers. The hunt is on through dense woods and unmarked trails, with two brutal killers, one determined and ruthless husband, and one bounty hunter. Swiftly, the hunt is over, with a devious betrayal and stunning denouement.

Jeffery Deaver is a master of suspense who’s every book demonstrates why he deserves all the accolades. An international bestselling author, his books are sold in 150 countries and translated into 25 languages. I am very excited to learn what he plans for us next time.

Much better than the last book in the series by getting back to the original premise of helping the lost. I didn't see the twist coming at the end. very good read!

I received an arc from Netgalley.

The book was ok for me. The beginning was a little hard to engage with me, the reason for this is that the main characters were not introduced in the beginning chapters of the book. I thought the the book was a little winded for me. The dad stalking his family I found very interesting. It pulled at my curiosity of why did he call someone after he spotted his family with a gun. Creepy. The book is ok.

Colter Shaw finds people, and he’s good at it. Allison Parker is on the run with her teenage daughter, stalked by her ex husband Jon who has been released from jail . Jon is an ex policeman who has a lot of friends willing to help him. This is an edge of your seat suspense book that will be hard to put down. Just when you think you have it figured out there is an unexpected twist. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

I have read a lot of Jeffrey Deaver's books in the past but it's been quite a while a I haven't read any from the Colter Shaw series. Colter is a very chill guy who is originally hired by a company to reclaim stolen technology. He is successful but then their lead engineer deliberately disappears and the CEO asks Shaw to find her and help her.

Allison is searching for a safe house after her husband, an ex-cop, is released early from prison and she fears for her and her daughter's lives with him on the loose. Shaw has met his match hunting for Allison, she covers her tracks well. But there are complications, such as trained killers also looking for Allison.

The story starts out kind of slow but it definitely picks up and even with all the thrillers I have read, I didn't predict the twists in this book. Looking for a good thriller? Deaver has you covered. I'll have to go back and read the earlier Colter Shaw books just to get to know him better, he really is very chill!

Jeffrey Deaver’s Hunting Time is the latest installment in the Colter Shaw series and is one of his best thrillers. The plot concerns a mother and daughter running from the husband/father who was recently released early from prison and has vowed to kill his wife. To say that the book is exciting would be a gross misstatement. The book begins with a “sting” and continues at a fantastic and frenetic pace. Several different people/groups are searching for the mother and the methods and subtle clues followed are amazing. There are multiple twists and turns and surprises before the satisfying conclusion.

I highly recommend this book and thank NetGalley and G.P. Putnam’s Sons for the opportunity to read and review this novel prior to publication.

I felt this book was tech heavy…probably great for engineers and tech people. Much of the jargon was over my head. It felt like such a stereotypical “dad” book…something I’d recommend or gift to an older male figure. I enjoyed the Jon/Allison story but didn’t feel invested in Colter’s. I felt like I crawled through this book. The pro was the big twist - totally got me and I didn’t see it coming!! But I just don’t think this book was for me.

I haven't' read a Jeffrey Deaver novel in quiet some time, not exactly sure why because I love his books. So I was extremely excited to read this. The beginning started out slow for me and I was questioning my book choice. Eventually the story picked up and I ended up really enjoying it. There were so many twists and turns. The ending was definitely unexpected. I was shocked, in a good way. There was so much that I believe to be true and I was completely in the dark on what was really happening. This was the first Colter Shaw book that I read and didn't realize it was a series. If I'm ever in trouble and need someone to protect me, I want Colter Shaw on my side. He knows how to do everything and is extremely cool under pressure. The two hitmen were scary. Did he really believe it as a rash from an allergic reaction? I knew it had to be something else. Ferrington sounded like a terrible place to live, between the crime and toxic river. Hannah was the typical teenager. Moody and constantly argumentative with her mom. Allison should have let her daughter know how serious everything was, then maybe Hannah would have listened to her and stayed off the phone.

Definitely recommend the book. It was a great mystery/thriller that kept me guessing until the end. Loved the characters, story and writing style. Look forward to reading more books by the author.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from PENGUIN GROUP Putnam, through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This was a great book. I loved every paragraph, every sentence and every word of this masterpiece! I read it in 12 hours, which is a lot for me to do! It had everything and more laid out in the novel! I sure hope he writes more! I am totally hooked!

Excellent!

Colt Shaw grew up in a very unusual household. His parents taught him survival skills that come in awfully handy for his work finding people for their reward money. When he uses his skills to track down an employee who is selling a part from a nuclear reactor, he also gets drawn in to help a valued nuclear engineer who is on the run from her ex-husband, an ex-cop recent early released from a 36 month sentence for savagely beating her.

The plot is fast and I didn't want to stop reading even when the clock said I really had to go to sleep. But I couldn't sleep until I finished it. It was cleverly written so not everything was as it appeared, but with none of the cop-outs of "it was just a dream".

I thoroughly enjoyed the earlier books of the Shaw series but really loved this one. You don't have to read them in order, but I really recommend you read them all.

I have read the previous Colter Shaw novels and enjoyed them. But unfortunately this one was not my favorite. The writing was good as usual but the story itself seemed to drag on and to me the twist and turns were pretty predictable. There is also some parts that were be confusing which I've never encountered in any of JDs other books. The book was not horrible, just kind of forgettable. Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for this Arc in exchange for a honest review.

Colter Shaw is hired to find Allison Parker. She is running from her ex-husband who has just been released from prison. He wants to make her pay for sending him to prison. Others are also after Allison.

I enjoyed the plot twists and well developed characters.

I found some parts confusing and drawn out but overall enjoyable.

This was my first Colter Shaw novel. While it is very good, I was confused at times. I have read other Jeffrey Deaver novels and thoroughly enjoyed them, so I think I'll go back and start with the first book and come current with the series and hopefully, I can get into the same grove as the writer.

A forgettable story with shallow characters. I didn’t find the story engaging and it just seemed cookie cutter, a disappoint in comparison to Deaver’s early works.

Thank you NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam for the eARC.
