Kind of a cute book but not really a story. It's just the events of the bear's day. It will mimic the daily routine of a small child, perhaps, but nothing to drive us to read.

An enjoyable little book to read to children (or in my case, grandchildren) and enjoy together and later on for the children to read themselves. Lovely illustrations and great message in the story.

'Kuma-Kuma Chan, the Little Bear' with story and art by Kazue Takahashi is a storybook for young readers.

Kuma-Kuma Chan which loosely translates to 'cute little bear' follow a bear as he goes about his day. Told with simple sentences and pictures, this is a gentle and sweet book.

Kuma-Kuma Chan, the Little Bear is a very cute story of the imagined day in the life of the little bear. Short and sweet for those little ones than have problems sitting still very long. Very enjoyable with adorable illustration. Thank you Akira Chiba at Museyon books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This is a cute book that takes you through a day with the little bear.
Museyon and Net Galley let me read this book for review (thank you). It has been published and you can get a copy now.

He gets up when the sun is up and has salad for breakfast. He does many different things during the day. He even takes a nap.

It's fun to watch what he does. He's happy by himself.

Your little one will be fascinated by this book and might even mimic the bear...

Kuma-Kuma Chan is an adorable little bear who lives in a far away small house deep in the mountains. He lives alone. He fills his days with unhurried movements that make him happy. He wakes up every morning and stretches, concocts a breakfast salad of tomatoes and lettuce, makes himself a cup of coffee, tidies up his home, shops at a bookstore, takes an afternoon nap, grooms himself, and takes time to daydream, just to name a few.

Kuma-Kuma Chan has no problem living a solo life and always manages to fill his days with activities that he loves. Finally at the close of the day he brushes his teeth and heads off to his comfy bed.

The watercolour illustrations are minimalistic and kids will identify with his routines. Each two page spread features text on the left and a soft-coloured pallet of illustrations on the right. I love the book's simplicity and especially the sweet main character. The book is very popular in Japan and elsewhere as kids can identity with the little bear as he travels through his day. This gentle book is wonderful and I highly recommend it.

Kuma-Kuma Chan is the perfect storybook and bedtime companion. The narrator explains that his friend, the little bear, lives in a home in the mountains that is "far away and difficult to get to." The narrator imagines how Kuma-Kuma Chan fills his time. He might spend his days quietly eating salad made from vegetables fresh from his garden or cleaning his small house. He might visit the bookstore or dance to music on the radio. He might even write "a long, long letter to a friend."

The charm of the Kuma-Kuma Chan books lies in their softly colored, uncluttered illustrations. If he is singing songs in the autumn, then readers see him sitting with his guitar and a couple of falling leaves are the sign of the season. Nap time shows him draped in his blue blanket. There are no extraneous details to make the scenes visually busy and hectic; everything is calm and spare. By the end of the book, the slow rhythm of basic tasks and simple joys like listening "to the sound of rain falling on the roof," will lull readers into their own peaceful state.

"Takahashi's illustrations embody kawaii—the quality of being cute and adorable, which is prominent in Japanese popular culture." (quote from publisher) Kuma-Kuma Chan is shown as a rather fluffy watercolor bear that all ages can appreciate. He seems to always be content and the only frown is one of concentration as he "pours milk to make beautiful drawings in his cup of coffee." Who wouldn't want to share a book about such a cute and cuddly bear?

Apparently this is the first book in a series about Kuma-Kuma Chan, the cute little bear.

In this one we learn what he does during the day. Or rather, we learn what the narrator thinks he does during the day.

Does he really trim his nails and line up the cut nails and gaze at them?

Does he lie on his roof and look at the clouds floating by?

Does he follow the sun in his house in the winter?

Does it matter if this is true, or just what the narrator supposes, we get to see the cute bear doing all these things.

Cute pictures, and. cute bear. I can see why this became a favorite book in Japan.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Museyon Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is a children's book. Hmmm this one was a bit confusing. It has nice graphics. I found it to be rather random. I read this with a 4 year old. She asked a lot of questions and just seemed confused. She asked where are his parents?, Why is he alone? Doesn't he live in the woods? Why does he live in a house? How old is he? Why can he drink coffee? He thinks that was fun? . So it made her think, but it also confused her. She seemed offended that a bear could drink coffee but she can't. She thought that clipping his claws and staring at the clippings was gross, and she said who does that? Anyway, I am not sure that I would recommend this or not. It seemed confusing and I had no answers to her questions. I am not sure if this is part of a series. 2.5 stars.

Kuma-Kuma Chan is someone's favorite bear, so he must do fun and interesting things all day long. This book follows the bear from morning to bed-time, imagining all the things he might be doing.

Shopping, trimming his claws, reading; normal bear things, and we hope he's happy!

The sweet illustrations show the fluffy bear with very short legs, (although perfectly sized for him, I'm sure) doing the many things mentioned in the text, and he looks so serious, it's funny!

This is a book that will bring back fond smiles every time. (Young children will love the variety of activities, and want to try a few!) I also recommend this book to anyone who could use a smile and reminders of how to relax a bit (nearly everyone), so it would make a nice personalized gift.

5/5

Charming little story about cute little bear named Kuma-Kuma Chan and how he might spend his day.I think littles will enjoy this imaginative tale of a bear spending his day much the same way as a toddler or preschooler might! Tending his garden, enjoying a salad he grew, shopping, etc... No dramas, no conflicts, it would make a nice nap or bedtime story! The illustrations are sparse, but they work, only showing the bear performing the actions of the story. Not complicated and easy for a little to follow!

A charming children's book where the unseen narrator speculates on how Kuma-Kuma Chan, his little bear friend, spends his days. The writing and illustration styles are both incredibly simplistic and infused with a cozy aesthetic as the little bear is seen focusing on doing things that make him happy throughout the day, like writing a love song and gazing at the rain. A nice reminder to take things slowly and enjoy as much time as possible.

Kuma-Kuma Chan, the Little Bear is quite a wholesome and cute little book, great for small toddlers, but it was a bit random and strange in some parts, though I kind of loved that about it

Thank you to the author, publisher, and netgalley for granting me and my toddler access to this book!

If you’re looking for a bright, colorful, busy picture book, this is not it. It is sparse, neutral in color, and very minimalistic.

Kuma kuma fluctuates between cute/silly activities (e.g., dancing around) and mundane daily activities (e.g., daydreaming while walking). As another reviewer said, it seems like Kuma Kuma leads a lonely life, and that made me kind of sad.

My toddler loves all books so his attention was kept by these pages. I’m not sure I would read it over and over again though.

First, my gratitude to Museyon Books and Netgalley for providing me with an advanced reading copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Simple and universal! Lowkey telling the ordinary life of a simple human being, you'd be lying if you say that you experienced neither of Kuma-Kuma chan's daily routines. I was actually entertained and found myself smiling. I felt the unexpected nostalgia as I grasp each delightful page. I love this and if I have kids I'd definitely read this to them.

I love the simplicity of the story and the illustrations, but this book definitely would not be for just any reader. Kuma-Kuma Chan is a sweet little bear, and the gentle expressions he gives throughout the book were just enough to make me smile. This would be a great book to work on retelling due to the simple details, or to discuss the things that a child does in their own day.

What does Kuma-Kuma Chan do all day? This is a beautiful, gentle story exploring an imagined day in the life of Kuma-Kuma Chan, a bear who lives in the mountains. From day to day activities, like eating breakfast and shopping, to more mindful moments - watching the clouds float by and listening to the rain on the rooftop, this is a dreamy book, which would be a lovely bedtime read.

The illustrations are beyond simple. In fact, they look like a watercolor splotch.
But I feel deep in love with that splotch!! Kuma, Kuma Chan is adorable and super loveable.

The storyline is great for young beginning readers, as we follow Kuma, Kuma Chan through his daily tasks.

I would follow Kuma anywhere. And my only question is… when will the Kuma. Kuma Chan stuffed animals be made? I need one!!

Grateful to have received a digital copy of this book from NetGalley & Museyon Books.
