Maddie and Mabel are two sisters that also best friends. Two different style, but complete each others, and help each others. The author put it brilliantly, how we should share, and decide which way is better, although we might have different ideas. Beautifully illustrated too, this book is a treasure to have.
Love this early chapter book, and already purchased it for my library! Hope more in the series follow!
Maddie and Mabel Take the Lead is the second book about the sister duo by Kari Allen. Maddie and Mabel Take the Lead has four mini stories in the volume and I believe it is geared toward a Beginner Reader. The stories are sweet and build on the previous book in the series. The stories have life lessons built into them. I think this book would be great for a Beginner Reader. I love the sweet stories and the relationship between Maddie and Mabel and believe kids will enjoy this book too. I would like to thank NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book. My review is also on Goodreads,
Maddie and Mabel is a sweet book about sisters being kind to each other and helping each other. I read this book with my 2 daughters who are very similar to Maddie and Mabel even down to their hair color. They both enjoyed the book. The illustrations go with the text nicely. I’d recommend this book for 4-10 year olds.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review.
This was such a sweet book, and the illustrations just so happened to remind me of the two littles in my life! I especially appreciated the themes of this book and the discussion questions at the end. This is a great example of easy-to-read text with nuanced and thoughtful themes!
Maddie and Mabel are the sweetest sisters -- they remind me of a pair of sisters that I know and love. In this delightful second book, the girls climb a tree, share a cookie, dance, and have their first day of school...all while being sisters and friends.
Maddie and Mabel are sisters. Maddie and Mabel are friends. They play together, the dance together. And they teach us that if you want help you should ask for it.
What a fantastic early reader chapter book! I love their curiosity and their sweet bond. And I always adore Tatjana's illustrations!
Maddie and Mabel is a story about siblings sharing quality time. It is cute on some level, but I thought the book lacked something deeper to make it stand out. The text is too straightforward and cold (not fluid enough), and the illustrations could've been a bit more complex.
True, the message is meaningful, but I wasn't convinced by the execution.
I received an arc of this title for an honest review. Maddie and Maple are sisters and also friends, and together they learn to work with one another to solve problems.
This book is well written. It has multiple stories of Maddie and Mabel and the Illustrations are nice looking. Together Maddie and Mabel (who are sisters) go in adventures together. Teaching about trust, sharing and helping one another. It is preparing children who read this alone or with someone else about something new, making feelings like nervousness discussable. That this feeling is okay to have! (like all feelings are actually) how to deal with the feelings and what could help. These are nice little stories within a bigger story, however I’m personally not blown away by it. there are better options out there for kids (and adults) teaching the same ideas. personal taste I guess? ..
I loved the big sister/little sister sharing and teaching. Didn't we all have a favorite tree? I hope so. This book was a great reminder of simpler times and the value of friendship.
This book was so adorable, my heart cannot handle it!
This is the story about two sisters Maddie and Mabel. Maddie is the big sister and Mabel is the small one. They do everything together- they climb a tree, they dance, they share cookies. This book showed beautifully what is sibling love. This book will teach the kids to share and talk what they are feeling to their elder siblings or friends. This is a very important book for kids in my opinion.
And the art style was perfect. The artwork and the drawings made me so nostalgic. It was very simple but absolutely beautiful.
I truly loved this book! Cannot recommend enough!
Maddie and Mabel are two adorable sisters working through some of life’s challenges together. Having two little girls myself, the importance of sisterhood is something we try to encourage and teach in our family. Maddie is the older sister who is brave and takes risks. Mabel is the younger sister who likes to sit back and watch Maddie. Maddie encourages Mabel to seek adventure and to trust her sister. Whether it’s climbing a tree, dancing together, or splitting a cookie, this book is wonderful for sisters. My girls truly loved the stories we were able to discuss similar situations in our own lives. We love you, Maddie and Mabel!

Growing up an only child, these stories are what I dreamed having siblings would be like. I later found out how different two siblings could be. I find it helpful to read books like this, by providing a good example of how siblings should get along. Or to foster a sibling bond.
This is an adorable book made-up of 5 mini-stories. Though the stories are short, each teaches a valuable lesson, like: sharing, talking about our fears, learning from each other or taking turns. It teaches children to be compassionate friends, to grow up to be a caring and thoughtful young person within a family, friend's group or in the community.
The illustrations are great! I love the bright and charming pictures of the sisters playing together. The text is simple to read. I enjoyed the outdoor activities, like climbing a tree or dancing; it's refreshing that Maddie and Mabel aren't sharing a tablet. I recommend this as a good book for a teacher's preschool-2nd grade (in the US). Or for parents wanting to develop a deeper sibling bond.
Thanks, NetGalley and Kind World Publishing, for providing me with a free ARC copy for an honest review.
An adorable story about the bonds sisters share. The illustrations are darling, the text simple enough for emerging readers, and the stories are short but each teach an important lesson. I could definitely see myself using some of these stories in small group counseling sessions with my early elementary students. I love that the author included discussion questions and ways to connect to the text at the end of the book.
Thank you to the publisher and Net Galley for the advance digital copy in exchange for an honest review.
As an only child, this simple story is everything I dreamed of when I envisioned a sibling! As a mother of many, I’m hopeful this sweet story can teach them how to be caring, loving friends to eachother!
A lovely book ,showing the adventures of two sisters ,as they go about their daily lives . Great mentorship book . The elder sister, offering support and guidance to the younger sibling in a fun easy to understand text.
a beautiful and touching book on the subject of sisterhood, the illustrations are adorable and the story itself really made me smile and often reminded me of my own little sister and me when we were younger.
