Rachel Good gives us another great romantic book in her series about the Green Valley Farmer’s Market in Pennsylvania. Each book has brought us new characters that experience relationships and love with workers in the Market. We also get to revisit some of the favorite characters from previous books.

This book introduces us to Stephen Lapp and his children who has just moved into the area and is working with his brother, Amos in the family meat stand. There he meets Nettie Hartzler, a widow with 4 children, who is working with her brother, Gideon, in his stand.

We see many interactions within this couple and their children which makes for entertaining, and surprising reading, due to some of the subject matter, which you would not normally read in Amish romances. Blackmail, hurts, fear, sadness, recovery, relationships, love, and new lifestyles are all a part of this book.

I received a copy of the book from NetGalley and the publisher, Kensington. The opinions expressed are my own. I would highly recommend this book, particularly if you are looking for something different, yet familiar in the Amish genre.

First of all, thank you to Kensington Books and #NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
An Amish woman who knows how to wield a knife? An Amish girl held at knifepoint? Gangs and vandalism? ALL in an AMISH FICTION book? Seems wild, right? But yes, the beginning of this book was just that wild ride...it was explained in a way that made sense, but the explanation came later, so for a while, the book just seemed so out of place, especially for this genre...way too complicated and worldly for a book about the Amish. This book was very uneven for me- I enjoyed it, but it was hard to change my expectations of how I wanted it to be...
I liked that Amish parenting was on display with Joline, who was quite a character! And giving things from her perspective, added another layer to the story. But being a mom of a pre-teen myself, the drama...I get it. Seriously, I do. It's actually pretty spot on, though to people who don't currently parent pre-teens, they might be thinking, "no way would a girl behave like this." How Stephen handled it, could have been expanded upon, with more moments between the two of them. Nettie and Stephen were a good coupling, BUT I would have maybe condensed the book into the first part and then expanded upon the epilogue after the marriage....I would have loved to read more about how they blended their family, to me that would have probably been more on point for this genre of story. Also, more details about their culture and faith, would have added to the story.

An Amish Marriage of Convenience is the fourth installment from Rachel J Good's series Surprised by Love. I enjoyed this sweet Amish story. Four and a half stars.

Another amazing story by Rachel Good as she takes us back to the Green Valley Farmers Market with an Amish widow and Amish widower and their stories. Two people with their own heartaches strive to trust one and help one another. Will this be a second chance of love for both or more heartache? I found the story engaging and I didn’t want to put it down.

I was given a copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher for my honest opinion and review. All words are my own.
