A really nice start to what I hope will be a series, though it's contained enough to stand alone. The NYC setting is done really well, down to creating a nice community in the neighborhood and within the characters to achieve the cozy mystery feel. Lots of characters and good suspects, a solid plot.

Liv is a freelance photographer in New York City, struggling to get her business off the ground. A chance meeting put her in position to work a debutante ball and things are definitely looking up -- until she finds her new employer standing over a murdered body. Somehow, everyone seems to think it's all her fault,

Liv is a great heroine. She's plucky, smart, and has a wonderful, quirky family. There's lot of local color, a charming romantic subplot, and a seriously happy ending. The book is well written, with humor and charm. I hgpe to see more of this series..

Photo Finished is the first in a new cozy series set in NYC. Our main character is Liv Spyer, is a struggling photographer and has just gotten a break in the industry with a job at a Debutante Ball. Unfortunately, there is a murder at the Ball and her new boss is the prime suspect. Liv does not believe that her boss Regina is guilty so she gets involved to help clear her bosses name. As a photographer, Liv is good at seeing the details and her photos from the event may hold the answer.

The book has lots of good suspects and the author has created a great set up for the series. I can't wait to read the next one.

Thank you Netgalley and Kensington Publishers for the eArc. This is my honest review.

Liv is trying to make it as a photographer in NYC. She finally gets a big break when an influential events photographer, Regina Montague, offers her a job as a junior photographer at a debutante ball. Things seem to be looking up for Liv, but at the debutante all a famous billionaire dies. Her new boss Regina is being framed for the murder and Liv must use her photography from that night to expose the real killer.

I was sold on this book with a NYC setting and photography. I found it to be a delightful cozy! The writing style was great – so easy and quick to read. I look forward to the rest of the series.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for my copy in exchange for my honest review.

Photo Finished by Christin Brecher is the first in a new cozy series. Liz Spyer is a struggling professional photographer living in a brownstone in Greenwich Village that is owned by her grandparents.

Liz seems to be an independent and intelligent young woman who uses her eye for details not only for her photography but life around which plays an important part as she struggles to solve a murder. A clever plot, some odd twists and clues, an in depth narrative of the secondary characters and New York City kept this story moving along at a smooth pace. The slightly dramatic but humorous finale made me smile as all the pieces of the puzzle came together.

The first in a new cozy mystery series with photographer Liv as the protagonist. Liv is struggling to make it as a photographer in nyc when she luckily scores a job at a debutante hall. however, someone at the hall ends up murdered and her boss from that night is the main suspect. Liv doesn’t believe her to be guilty and starts to investigate.

There elements of this book I liked like the photography and Liv’s family. However, I found Liv annoying at times. The romantic interest also was here but there was no will they won’t they like in a lot of cozies. I probably will read the next one in this series as often the second really builds on the first!

I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Liv Spyers is a young, struggling photographer living in her grandparent’s Greenwich Village brownstone basement. She works part time in their key shop on the ground floor and her big break comes when an elite society photographer comes into the shop and Liv takes advantage of the encounter to get herself a trial job as an assistant photographer at an exclusive debutante ball. Her big chance turns bad when a billionaire is murdered at the event and the main police are laser-focused on the main photographer as their key suspect. It’s up to Liv to find the real murderer and save her (hopefully) future employer. There are plenty of suspects and I enjoyed watching Liv puzzle through the mystery. Having a photographer as the amateur sleuth is a unique device, and one that actually makes sense. Liv is observant and detail-oriented and these skills are put to good use. An enjoyable start to a new cozy mystery series.

This is the first (YAY!) in a new series, the Snapshot of NYC Mysteries. It is a good cozy mystery with a hint of romance and more than a little humor. Expect engaging characters, unusual twists, strange red herrings, and know that the publisher's blurb is a good one.
I requested and received a free e-book copy from Kensington Books/Kensington Cozies via NetGalley. Thank you!

Overall, I really loved this book. If you are looking for a brilliant cozy mystery then this is one for you. It has a smidge of romance, bu that is not focused on enough to take away from the thrill of th emystery being solved. And when it is solved, you would never be able to guess the killer and thief until it has been totally revealed for the reader, just before the sting takes place. The character development is trully brilliant as with the plot progression so does our protagonist's life and personality reveal and slightly evolve. There are enough characters/suspects for it to be interesting without there being too many that you cannot keep track of who is who. It felt like reading a non-cheesy cluedo and I enjoyed it all the way through.
I really want there to be a sequel.

I enjoyed this book from the first sentence! Brecher does an amazing job of pulling you in & describing NYC in such a charming (but completely realistic) way.

Liv is one of the freshest, wittiest & most resourceful heroines I’ve read in a while. Usually the love connection in cozy mysteries is one of my least favourite parts of the story but in this one Liv & Harry are such a highlight! The mystery involves some of New York’s wealthiest so that adds to some intriguing locales Liv has to investigate. It also has a really creative plot, side plot & suspects. This is one of the best & most unique cozy mysteries I’ve read this year, can’t wait for more! (it’s also set at thanksgiving/Christmas so technically it’s a holiday book too).

The first installment in the new Snapshot of NYC Co𝐬𝐲 Mystery series featuring Liv Spyer, a young photographer trying to make it in NYC.

Liv is very close to her loving and wacky family -so close that she lives in her grandparents basement studio apartment, where she has her photo studio, and occasionally helps out at the family locksmith business, as well. She just wants to get a foot in the door of the photo biz, and in the midst of her first assignment - a society debutant ball - she happens upon a murder victim, where she inadvertently and unwittingly appears to place the blame on her new boss! Eek! What’s a new NYC photographer to do? Why, solve a murder of course!
📸🔍
Brecher has crafted, in Liv, an extremely endearing character, and a cast of colorful, zany, and intriguing characters as well, including the hunky boyfriend. I really enjoyed this quick and delightful read and look forward to future episodes in the Snapshot of NYC series.

My gratitude to NetGalley, Christin Brecher, and Kensington Books for the opportunity to read this delightful new cosy mystery, in exchange for my honest, and wholly independent opinion.

This is a first in the Snapshot of NYC and it didn’t disappoint. I loved that the main character Liv is a photographer. When she is invited to shoot at an elite party she couldn’t be happier. That is until someone is murdered. Overall a great start to a fun series.

Loved the cover and the title. The premise is original, nice that’s it’s set in Manhattan and the hero is a photographer, a good change from all the new mysteries where they’re set in bookstores. However there were too many characters for me to keep straight and I wasn’t crazy about the authors style of writing. Not to say I wouldn’t try a second book, but this was nothing special.

"Photo Finished" is the first in the new cozy mystery series (A Snapshot of NYC ) by Christin Brecher. Liz Spyer is an aspiring photographer trying to make a name for herself in New York City, while also helping out at her grandparent's locksmith shop. Liz is delighted when meets Regina Montague, a well-known New Yorker with a photography company, at her grandparents' shop. Regina offers Liz a trial job as a photographer at a debutante ball, and Liz knows that she needs to make the most of this opportunity. However, things go awry at the ball when guest Charlie Archibald is found murdered, and Regina is found next to him with blood on her hands. Liz considers herself to be quite astute at picking up on the smallest detail of things through her camera lens, and believing Regina to be innocent, decides that she can use her skills to help prove Regina's innocence. Armed with her photos from the ball, and help from Regina's receptionist, and an insurance man for art named Harry, Liz must navigate through New York's socialites to help Regina and bring down the real killer.

"Photo Finished" was a quick read, with a cute cast of characters, including Liz and (her maybe boyfriend) Harry, as well as her family. It's a great start to a new cozy mystery series, and I look forward to the next book and more of Liz's adventures!

Thanks to Net Galley and Kensington Books/Kensington Cozies for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. "Photo Finished" is scheduled to be released on 10/25/22.

Photo Finished by Christin Brecher (Snapshot of NYC #1) 5 stars

A new cozy mystery series from the author of the Nantucket Candle Maker Mysteries.

Liv Spyers, is a young aspiring photographer living and working in NYC. She juggles her passion for photography with working part-time at her grandparents Greenwich Village key shop. A chance meeting with a celebrated photographer gets her a trial gig to photograph a debutante’s ball. Everything is fine until she discovers a body behind the bar at the ball. Suspicion falls on her boss, so Liv will have to juggle a lot of clues to find the real killer.

This is a wonderful start to a brand new series; the mystery was intriguing, the action dynamic. Liv Spyers looks to be an adventurous heroine who uses her artistic eye and intuition to solve the puzzles presented to her. The supporting characters are interesting and the possible boyfriend – charming. I look forward to the next book in this series.

Thank you Netgalley and Kensington Books for this ARC.
