I hesitated to read All the Dangerous Things since I wasn't a huge fan of A Flicker on the Dark but wow, this was fantastic! I shouldn't have put off reading it for as long as I did but I'm almost glad I did since I needed a good book to read. If you are one of the few people who have not read this one yet, then definitely grab a copy!
I love a split timeline. Willingham does an excellent job weaving past and present. Loved her first book, and this one did not disappoint. This was a rollercoaster ride where I was anxious, angry, on the edge of my seat, all of the emotions! I will continue to read future books from this author!
All the Dangerous Things was a fantastic read with an engaging plot centered around a woman whose son was stolen from his bed.
One year ago Isabelle Drake's life was changed forever when her son Mason was stolen from his crib in the middle of the night while Isabelle and her husband slept in the next room. With few leads the case quickly goes cold, leaving Isabelle unable to rest. Literally. Having barely slept for the last year, Isabelle's entire life has become about finding her son. In the hope of finding new evidence or a witness, Isabelle agrees to be interviewed on a true-crime podcast about the case. But the podcaster's questions make Isabelle think he's after more than just an interview. Isabelle begins doubting her recollection of the night Mason disappeared and has her questioning who she can trust...including herself.
I enjoy true-crime podcasts so the premise of All the Dangerous Things intrigued me and I knew I wanted to pick this one up. The book opens one year after Isabelle's son disappeared and it's clear she's not functioning well in his absence. She hasn't had a full night's sleep since he was taken and severe sleep deprivation is taking its' toll. She sees the podcast as a new way to get Mason's story out there and hopes it will lead to new evidence. I liked the use of the podcast as it was a great way for the reader to learn about what happened to Mason and where the case stands in present day. Without giving anything away I'll just say the case went in several directions I wasn't expecting and I was surprised by who ended up being behind Mason's disappearance. I thought the ending was well done and the author did a great job pulling you in and keeping you guessing until the last page.
With the severe sleep deprivation, Isabelle is a bit of an unreliable narrator. We can't fully trust anything she says as she routinely loses chunks of time due to lack of sleep. She's also beginning to doubt her own memories and wonders if she is somehow responsible for what happened. The book does go a bit into Isabelle's past which gives some insight into why she acts the way she does in present day which I found really interesting. Waylon, the podcaster interviewing Isabelle, was also an intriguing character and I found myself questioning his motives pretty early on. He seemed so invested in Isabelle's story but it went beyond natural curiosity for a story in my opinion.
Overall All the Dangerous Things was an excellent read and I would highly recommend it if you're looking for a great mystery.
This was the first Stacy Willingham book that I've read. It was a pretty decent thriller. But I just wasn't in a thriller mood. I think this book would be perfect for someone who is looking to add more thrillers to their reading!
One year ago, Isabelle Drake's life took a dark turn when her toddler son, Mason, vanished from his crib in the middle of the night. Despite a lack of evidence and dwindling leads, Isabelle's unwavering determination to find her son keeps her awake, except for brief catnaps. Desperate for answers, she agrees to be interviewed by a true-crime podcaster, but his probing question's trigger unsettling memories from her past. As insomnia and doubt blur the lines of reality, Isabelle embarks on a quest to uncover the truth about Mason's disappearance, even if it means questioning everything and everyone, including her own sanity.
Reading this book and The Push back to back sent my blood pressure through the roof and has had me on edge for daaaayyss. Psychological thrillers have been my jam lately.
I've never experienced a book where I've felt that every single character was guilty and had to be the one who took little Mason from his crib. Talk about twisty and untrusting. I could not put this book down. I had to know what happened and what unfolded was insane.
The writing was phenomenal and the way she jumped from one guilty character to the next left me feeling super uneasy. Ah, like...it gives me goosebumps.
This story is a parents worse nightmare....so what does it say about me that I absolutely LOVED it?
This was a slow-burn slow slow-reading thriller and whilst the conclusion was satisfactory the journey wasn't something which I liked.
I think the book was overwritten - 5 sentences to describe something which could have been done in one. And that started to take a toll on me. It was way too descriptive and whilst it was a good story I got a tad impatient to get to it. I was hoping for something fast and high-octane. But this was too slow and meandering for my liking.
I liked a lot of aspects of the book but they didn't end up coming together as smoothly as I would have liked.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley.
This is an exciting mystery which centers around a missing child. Isabelle, the child's mother, has not been able to sleep since the baby was taken. She is the narrator of the book and the reader is never quite sure if her descriptions are reliable. How much is happening within her sleep-deprived brain? Is she responsible for her son's disappearance or can another character be the culprit?
I very much enjoyed this book and it kept me guessing until the end.
*** VERY UNPOPULAR OPINION*****
I will definitely be in the minority with my opinions about this book BUT I did not like or enjoy this book. First of all, I know it is a work of fiction and imaginiation but I felt it was in poor taste to have a very infant kidnapping and making it look like the mother was involved. I did feel Isabelle's pain throughout the book and could identify with her living nightmare. I did not like how they made Isabelle look like she was an unfit mother.
I felt some of the plot twists were predictable. It took me awhile to read this because I was reading other books.

Isabelle Drake has been unable to sleep properly for a year, since her toddler, Mason, was kidnapped from his crib while she and her husband Ben slept close by. It's now a cold case for everyone except Izzy.
The story moves back and forth in time, between Izzy's childhood with her sister Margaret (who died) and the present, when Izzy is interviewed by a true crime podcaster.
Izzy and readers do find out what happened and her persistence is rewarded, though not in a way that I expected when I started the novel. A very good read!
I really enjoyed this book!
It was a fast paced page turner that had me looking over my shoulder and guessing what was going to happen next.
I loved Isabelle’s character and her development thru the whole book. It felt like you were living thru the trauma with her. There were so many moments where you thought you had it all figured out I love a thriller like that where you keep guessing till the very end!
Thank you NG for this ARC.
This. Was. Fantastic.
I've only seen great reviews about it, abd honestly, I'm kicking myself for not getting to this one sooner! It had such a great storyline with well-written characters, and it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I'm a slow-ish reader and I finished this one in a couple days, which says a lot! I look forward to reading others by this author.
Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
Absolotuley gripping. This was such a good book to read and enjoy. I wholeheartedly reccomend this one as a huge fan of this author and her debut. I was not dissapointed one bit. Pick this one up and prepare to enjoy. I cannot wait for more from this author as I need more please and thank you.
I finally got around to reading All the Dangerous Things by Stacy Willingham. It was an excellent book - well written and kept my interest piqued throughout. It does have sleep deprivation/sleepwalking as a component of the story which I typically don't like but it worked out well for this story. I also loved the podcast aspect of the story which I find to really enjoy in books. The story unfolds a bit gradually and eventually picks up steam. I am sorry I didn't get to reading this book sooner! I love this author's writing style and look forward to whatever she may write next. Thank you for the advanced copy - and I apologize for the delay in reading. The cover looks amazing and also - I picked up the audiobook and Karissa Vacker does an amazing job narrating!
😴🛏Book Review:
Title: All The Dangerous Things
Author: Stacy Willingham
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/4 stars
Suspenseful! Kept me very engaged, and I was able to read this one very fast because I just couldn't put it down! Great twists thrown in that kept me guessing!
Isabelle Drake has been a sleepwalker since she was a child. Her sleep issues have been even more extreme with the insomnia she's been struggling with since her two year old son, Mason, disappeared one year ago. Unfortunately, she is a suspect, and at times, she's scared she can't trust herself or her memories from not only that night but things that took place in her childhood. Many secrets are revealed, and I was definitely thrown for a loop when I found out what really happened! Great book!

Stacy can do no wrong in my eyes! I have been a fan since her debut last year. Read this book! She does twist and turns like no other. By far my new favorite thriller author!
This was my first book by Stacy Willingham and it won’t be my last👏🏼 I already have A FLICKER IN THE DARK queued up and ready to go!
This one was a lot of fun and surprised me in the best ways! Isabelle’s son has gone missing and she’ll do anything to get him back. We also get a lot of backstory of her life and her relationship with her son’s father. One of the main components of this book is sleepwalking which has always interested me!
I thought I knew where this story was going until that *one* detail got revealed and really threw me for a loop! I love a true twisty read and this one was the perfect thriller to read on the beach. I thought the beginning was a bit slower, so it took me a little bit to get into it — but once I got to a certain point I was hooked!
3.5⭐️s for Stacey Willingham’s ‘All the Dangerous Things’!
Isabelle Drake’s son Mason was taken in the night from their own home a year ago and ‘Izzy’ has been searching for him nonstop since his disappearance. Her life as she knew it has crumbled, including her 7 year marriage to Ben. Izzy speaks publicly on Mason’s kidnapping and she is well known in the true crime community. Podcaster Waylon Spencer reaches out to her to help and when she agrees, lots of secrets unfold. There are many secrets and memories from the past and present that Izzy must remember to find out what really happened to her son.
Izzy has suffered from sleep disorders (yes, multiple) since she was a child and it’s been a challenge for her deciphering what is real and what is imagined. We get to experience her inner thoughts through ‘Then’ and ‘Now’ perspectives.
So, this felt like such a long book to me! It had a great ending and lots of twists and turns, but getting there was a struggle. I picked this one up and down many times and in the end, I’m glad I pressed on.
The author’s note was great and I loved how she touched on important issues with women in today’s society that are still overlooked and often left unaddressed. Thank you! I loved ‘A Flicker in the Dark’ and all the flickering in this book as well.
Sadly I didn't enjoy this book as much as her first one which I think is evident as it took me about 2 months to finally finish it. Thrillers involving children have never been a favorite of mine and most of this book was pretty droll to me. I love an unreliable narrator but the mother in this book was too much for me and it was hard to tell what was real and what was all in her head. The ending was supposed to be super twisty and gasp-worthy but I thought it was pretty lackluster and rushed. It was a quick read once I could get into it which is why I'm giving it 3 stars but other than that I didn't really enjoy it.
Thanks to St. Martins Press, Minotaur Books for the gifted copy for my honest review!
One of the best books I’ve read this year!!! It’s a parents worst nightmare having your child go missing from their crib in the middle of the night, right?? Wow, this book did not disappoint!!! Super edge of my seat the entire time. All of the characters were complex and I couldn’t help by change my opinions of them constantly!
Loved All The Dangerous Things and others by Stacy Willingham. Would love to read more similar titles. Im a romance reader and for this to be of interest to me and really pull me in as it is not romance, it must be a great book. Cant wait for more from this author. Was a bit slow at times but you can't expect it to be go go go at all times
