This was a good romantic suspense. The story was very well written and I loved how I had no idea who was behind everything until the end. I liked how Natalie was able to put things together as the story unfolded. I also liked seeing the characters grow and seeing how the different threads of evidence wove together. I thought this was a good story. This was the first book I have read by this author and I liked that the story can stand alone and that it was so well written that I want to read the other books in the series. Definitely one to check out if you like suspense.

I'm a fan of the Natalie Marsh series and this one kept me guessing right up until the very end!

Psychologist Natalie and her husband, Gideon, find themselves deep in a murder mystery, thanks to her intern needing some help with a little family drama. This intriguing, and seemingly guilty, cast of characters was as mysterious as a Clue game.

There are so many reasons to pin the murder (turned murders) on a wide variety of people. As the clues slowly unravel and come to a thrilling reveal, I was completely captivated. This dangerous tale is one of Stephanie Black's finest and I was engrossed from start to finish.

I am a huge fan of mysteries and even more so when I can't figure it out on my own! Stephanie Black created a very intriguing story that drew me in start to finish. If I can't put it down then I know it's a good one!

Full of twists and turns, intrigue and suspicion, this story will take you on a ride!

This is book 5 in a series; however you do not have to read each book in the series for this book to make sense. I did not read every book in this series.

The characters in this book are well written. I was a little confused at first because I am not used to the third-person point of view with the view point changing between many characters.

Even though the series is called Natalie Marsh, the story does not center or revolve around her. The story revolves around a man named Rowan, who believes his brother was wrongly convicted of murder. Natalie Marsh becomes involved and realizes how complicated matters truly are.

Come Gentle Night is the fifth book in a series about Natalie Marsh , a therapist, and her husband Gidian. It was a fun read with a lot of twists and turns. And had me trying to figure out who done it until the very end.

While this book could be read as a stand alone I think you would enjoy it a lot more if you have read the first books in this series. There are a lot of references to things from past novels that would be a little frustrating if you haven’t read the earlier books

Overall I really enjoyed the book and give it 4 stars. I recommend it to those who love a good suspense!

This is the fifth book in the Natalie Marsh series. It's the first one I have read. It would have been beneficial for me to have read the first four books to know how all the characters were connected and the background of all of them. That being said I did enjoy the book. There was several twists and turns that kept me guessing throughout the book. The who done it was a surprise. There are several other surprises as well. I recommend this book to all who enjoy a good mystery. Don't be like me, read the first four first.

Every high school English teacher’s favorite: Romeo and Juliet!

Yep, this time we get star-crossed lovers: Jemma Bartholomew, Detective Bartholomew’s sister, and Rowan Montrose, who, with his cousin, hates the police and believes they covered up his brother’s innocence in the case of his wife’s murder.

Again, we have a variety of people to be suspicious of. And Natalie finds herself protecting one of them—a client who is one of the cops who worked the case of Serena Montrose’s murder. In her attempts not to reveal that he is her client, she sometimes makes things worse.

Gideon continues to be the wonderful and supportive husband we know and love, while trying to keep Natalie from putting herself in danger. Naturally, it doesn’t work, but he’s always there to pick up the pieces.

I particularly enjoyed getting to see Abe Bartholomew move from a side character to an integral part of the story. His frustration in dealing with his little sister, who is determined not to listen, rings true. Even better, rather than our young lovers dying, we see them survive their idiocy and become wiser people. And Jemma is able to separate herself from Rowan’s infatuation, so that’s definitely a win.

Black continues to give us stories that use complicated family dynamics as part of the impetus for her plots. Can’t wait for the next installment!

Who Might Like This Book:
People who like suspense stories. Those who like complicated family dynamics and other relationships. People who like allusions to Shakespeare stories. There is bit of romance here, but it is definitely not the focus of the story.

This book should come with a warning label: DO NOT START AT NIGHT. Basically, do not start reading this book if you want to get anything else accomplished, because once you get a couple of chapters into the story you aren't going to be able to put it down!

Stephanie Black is one of my favorite clean suspense authors and I'm always excited for another Natalie Marsh book. That poor woman has been through the wringer, and I hope she and her husband have a good therapist because somehow she always finds herself mixed up in these dangerous situations. I'd definitely have nightmares on a regular basis if I'd experienced what Natalie's been through. Only Natalie Marsh trying to help her intern keep an eye on a couple of people at a fundraiser can turn into a fight for her life!

I loved the Romeo and Juliet vibes in the story--from the bad decisions Jemma and Rowan kept making to the scene in the cemetary. I feel the author did a great job incorporating those elements into the story. There were a few great suspects and for once I was right about one of them (go me because this rarely happens), but the other one completely took me by surprise!! And that ending!!! I was not prepared for it and immediately texted my book besties about my surprise. I didn't give any spoilers but I had to let them know to be prepared--it's what we book besties do!

You don't have to read the previous books in the series before reading this one but I recommend you do so you can see Natalie and Gideon's relationship from the beginning and you'll also see Natalie's relationship with a few of the characters that are in this book. The series starts with Not a Word.

I've been reading these Natalie Marsh mystery books since the very beginning and I'm always so excited to get a new one. Natalie is a character with smarts and a gift for patience but she is also a trouble magnet. And when I say trouble, I mean death and destruction kind of trouble. It's frightening. Just ask her husband. Poor guy. He is always put through the ringer. I don't know how they both don't have PTSD.

This mystery was so well crafted. I love suspecting everyone and finding the truth right along with the characters. This one had me so invested from beginning to end. The danger had a growing momentum that had me reading so fast, I had to purposely slow myself down. I was in such a hurry to find out the "who done it" that I was missing the good stuff. I'm impatient like that.

The ending was awesome. I loved how everything came together. I'm a fan of this author and her mysteries. So, so good.

This book is part of a series and I think you will be happier if you read it in order because Natalie will feel like a friend and you will know her history. But, I think you could read it as a stand alone.

Natalie Marsh is in top form in this suspense mystery. The way this story is laid out is just amazing. There are so many twists and turns with plenty of Natalie's cool logic and propensity for trouble.

Stephanie Black is a master of suspense and mystery. She keeps you on the edge of your seat and wanting more.

I love that Natalie is a psychologist and the way she interacts with others. She does tend to be a bit trusting and finds herself in so many situations. =]

The characters are wonderful and the conflicts are on point. I found myself pulled into the story, caring about the characters, and trying to figure out the mystery as I go.

The Natalie Marsh Mystery Series has been so good and all of the stories, although connected, have also been very different. This novel held many surprises and things I didn't guess until almost the end. Natalie Marsh is a psychologist by trade. The problem is, she always finds herself in the middle of some murder mystery. Her poor husband has a hard time keeping up with her and gets so stressed worrying about Natalie...and for good reason. It's like trouble sniffs her out despite her always trying to do the right thing and help people.

There is a lot of action; car chases, homicide, drugging, and kidnapping to name a few. Please know, there is nothing too graphic in the storytelling. As far as crazy twists and turns you will find plenty of them. Just when you think you can sit back and proudly say you know what is happening, you're in for another curveball that leaves you wondering what you just read.

If you are a fan of this series it's an absolute must that you read this fifth book. If you've never read a Natalie Marsh Mystery, you could read this and still enjoy it but like I always recommend, you'll have a much richer experience with the characters if you've read the previous books. Stephanie Black has another hit on her hands with Come, Gentle Night.

Rowan’s brother was convicted of murdering his wife and Rowan feels uneasy about this case. Reluctantly, she decides to help him and together they look for clues to find the real killer. A suspenseful thriller that throws in some twists and turns that keeps the reading guessing.

I've really enjoyed the Natalie Marsh series and this book was a great addition to it! The pacing and character development were well done. The plot kept me on the edge of my seat!

Wowsers!!! I know I can always count on Stephanie Black to make me lose sleep at night because I just can't set her books down! I'm reading along and thinking "just one more chapter," as I fight to keep my eyes open and my book is bashing me in the face.

If you're a fan of suspense/thriller books, you need to pick up these Natalie Marsh books! I didn't start with the first book when I first picked them up and then went back and enjoyed them. As I read this I felt like readers who are picking up book #5 without having read any of the previous books, they'd be able to dive right in and enjoy it and not feel lost. The author gives back info that fills in the pertinent info. But I like them all that I suggest reading or listening to them all.

The characters are well developed and the relationships between all of the characters are built up and leave you thinking there's no way any of them could be the one causing all of the problems. Oh, but you'll be shocked by all of the twists and turns and what happens throughout the book. Poor Natalie, she needs a break. Maybe one of these books, the author will give her a break. Hahaha! I was guessing and guessing and making many conjectures of who, what, where and why. I'm happy to say I guessed right on some but I guessed wrong on other aspects. But it was sooooo good! I love when an author keeps me guessing throughout the whole book.

Get ready for some great reading material when you pick this one up. And don't forget that you might lose sleep as well. I wish you luck!!!

Content: Clean. This book is clean and written very well even with the suspense/thriller content. There are murders and such but the author does a great job of not being overly graphic and keeping it clean that a wide age range can read and enjoy her books. The main character is married but there are only a couple kisses throughout the book and nothing further. I'd let my older teenagers read/listen to it. They have the previous books and really enjoy them.

Stephanie Black is the queen of suspense. Her writing keeps me guessing until the very end, and it was no different in Come Gentle Night. Natalie Marsh gets entangled in yet another murder mystery as she tries to be a helpful friend to a young woman entangled in a whirlwind relationship. As the death count ticks upward, both Natalie and her husband are determined to stay safe and only be as involved as they need to be. Before long, the perpetrator takes matters into his own hands to silence Natalie's involvement. I finally had to stay up all night to finish solving the mystery, I knew I wouldn’t be able to sleep until I finished!

I had to laugh at just how much Natalie and Gideon just did NOT want to be a part of this story. They did their best (well, sort of) to avoid it, but I don't think they actually know how to avoid these issues. Especially Natalie. :) While they might not have been thrilled to get sucked in to yet another kerfluffle, I was quite happy to see them there. They both make for a good story - probably more so with their reluctance.
I am not a Shakespeare fan at all, not even a little tiny bit, so I didn't notice that this was a slight retelling of Romeo and Juliet until it was pointed out to me. Afterwards, I did notice some similarities, but not really all that many, because I'm pretty sure I slept through the Shakespeare unit in school. Either that, or I just didn't understand any of what I read, which is probably most likely.
Super-confusing ancient authors aside, I highly recommend this book. And this series. And this author.

A good mystery with characters I actually liked. I was a bit lost at the beginning as I haven't yet had the chance to read the previous book but I caught up fairly quickly. I liked how everything was revealed slowly but steadily and wasn't overly complicated. Everyone got exactly what they deserved and we got some great snarky banter to go alongside it. A really enjoyable read!

Come, Gentle Night was the first book I ever read by Stephanie Black, and I’m beyond annoyed that I haven’t happened upon her books before this.

I love nothing more than a writing style that makes me feel as if I’m watching a movie unfold right before my eyes, and Stephanie’s style is just that. It was able to picture everything clearly and lose myself in the story. Natalie Marsh has all the vibes of Temperance Brennan, expect she’s using psychology to solve the mysteries surrounding her. I feel a very strong need to read the entire series now.

There were so many twists and turns in this story, that Stephanie made it incredibly hard to figure out who was behind the murders until the very end. I highly recommend this book.

Bravo Stephanie Black, well played! What a rollercoaster ride! I love it when a mystery keeps me guessing. Usually, I’m pretty good at figuring out whodunit before the end. Not this story! This mystery was so full of twists and turns and just when I thought I’d figured it out, there was a new clue. Not only was the mystery fabulous, but I loved the relationships, the humor, and the overall themes. I also enjoyed the nods to one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays. So well done!

Murder, feuds, young love, an angry mother, a meddling neighbor, a questionable cop, and a host of other suspects make this story so hard to put down. The ending will have you on the edge of your seat. It’s a must read for mystery lovers. While it’s the fifth book in the series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. Those familiar with the series will especially love this. It’s a cozy clean mystery akin to an Agatha Christie or Mary Higgins Clark novel.
