This is my first time reading something by this author and I really enjoyed it. The story caught my attention from the beginning and held it all the way through. Reality show rom coms are becoming very popular these days, and this one certainly followed suit. The story follows Emmy who has really been down on her luck recently both financially and when it comes to love. In an effort to make more money and get her life back on track, she signs up as a contestant on the Big Wild Love Adventure, not really caring much for the love aspect, her only goal is the money. But while on the show, she feels a strong pull towards a fellow cast member, Wes. Emmy just may get another chance at love after all.
The book is full of drama and romance with plenty of laugh out loud moments throughout. The storyline was engaging and had a nice smooth flow with wonderful characters. It definitely left me with a smile on my face and a happy feeling afterwards. The characters were interesting and well-developed with realistic qualities that gave them an authentic personality and were easily relatable. I enjoyed their interactions and seeing them together. The story was delightfully cute and a great escape. I found this to be a thoroughly entertaining and adorable story and am glad I had the opportunity to read it.
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
Reality TV romcoms are quickly becoming one of my favorites! The story was fast pace and the romance and relationship was perfection!
Thank you NetGalley for giving me this book in return with honest review!
I pick this book because of the unique concept. The only Reality Show I followed is the Korea one and when this book offer me a reality show to get adventure and also love, I'm really excited to read this one!
Emmy has been in bad luck since her wedding broken. Her man leaves her for another pregnant women, what make it worse is he leave her on their wedding day, on the altar. Since than Emmy try to get her life back, but it is not easy and she meet failure after failure. Until her assistant persuade Emmy to join reality show called Big Wild Love Adventure. She only set her goal for the Prized Money but unexpectedly she find another thing here that she think already lost in her life.
Like I said before, I love this concept and author really can portray it well. All the games, all the adventure are really well explain. I can feel the euphoria from the contestant and I love how author use the jungle as the main background so all the games related to a really adventure.
What I don't expect is I'm in love with all the character that play in this reality show. Emmy as the main character of course I love her. She really a great one, with all the failure she got she still standing strong and focus on her goal. The contestant in this show became such a great friend for Emmy and I love the way interact with each other, they feel like a best friend like a family. Even though they have to fight each other, they still care too much for the others. I love they stand for Emmy with what happen in this book. Of course not all the characters are good here but even the bad ones I like.
When we talk about the relationship, I feel like Emmy and Wes didn't have a strong one at first. Because they're not really interact with each other but Emmy maybe like him first. But, after they become partner the whole relationship between two become better.
One thing I don't like is the way the show end. I don't know why they need to do "something" like that and just causing drama at the end. I wish the author just use another approach if she want to add drama at the end because it just not make sense to "force" people to that. Well maybe I just didn't like Emmy hurt again.
Overall, this book was so tropey and wholesome. I just
had a really good time reading it. It was a perfect
balance of serious and comedic. I've never read a book
quite like it before and I'm happy about that. It gave a
really good message too.
Things I Liked:
I love the premise so, so much and I think Emmy is
amazing.
Bailey and Emmy's friendship is so cute/relatable.
I laughed a lot reading this book.
Oh my god, the first actual kiss scene??? That was so
great.
Emmy and Tad's friendship made me so happy. I like
how they were really supportive each other too.
I LOVE how Karly and Emmy make up while they're in
the woods together. It really subverted a lot of reality
TV tropes especially since the rest of teh girls were
already so close.
The ending was perfect!!
Things I Didn't Like
The story begins before it feels like it should. I think
instead of it starting with Emmy successful, it should
start with her at the lowest of lows- instead
This was an absolutely fun ride! The plot is simple: a down-on-her luck baker gets drunk and enters for an adventure/love reality show. Shocker! She gets chosen and the book is 85% what happens on show. I had so much fun with this. Emmy was such a sweetheart and I wanted to protect her from everything. Not because she was weak, but because I cared so much. Seeing her emerge stronger and happier was wonderful.
I appreciated so many things about this book - No insta-love between the leads, in fact there was a veryyyyy brief moment I thought I didn't have the ML correct (I did :)). The other characters! They were so fun and some of the contestants had great growth from when we first met to end of book. Even the show's host was fun. The show's twists and turns plus their wacky challenges. The final conflict/break up - Now I rarely like 3rd act breakups but this one was different, in fact if events had happened differently I would have not enjoyed the couple as much as I did.
P.S. It was when I was done with the book that I remembered that JK wrote 2 NA and the very angsty, steamy Time Served series that I also enjoyed. They are different from this book in tone but not in how well written they all were.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and the Publishers for the ARC, I had a great time reading this.
Emmy's hit rock bottom and she knows it. What better a way to avoid a rundown food truck, the aftermath of being left at the altar, and owing your parents money than signing up for a reality show?
If you're big on reality television and the concept of a Love Island/Amazing Race/Survivor mashup reality show in book form sounds intriguing to you, then you're in for a TREAT with this one. "Big Wild Love Adventure" was such a blast! I love reality competition shows, so reading one was so much fun!
Thank you to NetGalley, Julianna Keyes, and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for the copy in exchange for an honest review!
RATING: 4 out of 5
I'm a big fan of reality TV show based books and when I read that the premise of Big Wild Love Adventure was an adventurous reality show dating show, I knew I needed to get my hands on this book! Big Wild Love Adventure is a perfect summer read and the details that went into describing the different reality TV show challenges and activities were so fun! Wes and Emmy had great chemistry and I was rooting for them the entire time. The other side characters were also well developed and I found myself wanting to know more about each one of them, specifically Alex and Paige.
It was a bit of a slow start to get the story rolling but once Emmy is finally in the jungle, that's when all the wild adventure begins! Low-risk, good character development, cute romance-- check, check, check! Thank you NetGalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-Op for the advanced copy. All opinions are my own.
Big Wild Love Adventure is the second reality show themed rom-com I’ve read this spring and I absolutely loved it. Emmy has been having a heck of a year. Dumped at the alter, her business destroyed, and her reputation trashed online. What’s a girl to do? Go on a reality TV show of course! That’s right, Emmy and a group of hot singles head into the jungles of Panama to compete for the chance at cash and love. Emmy is there because she needs a break from her reality and could really the cash. The last thing she expected was to actually find love. The book features a super cute cast of characters and I loved the story. I really hope we see more rom-coms from Julianna in the future. Thanks so much to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an eARC of Big Wild Love Adventure.

If you love reality tv, you'll love Big Wild Love Adventure. And while I'm not the hugest fan of reality tv dating shows, I enjoyed this fun romp in the Panamanian jungle with cameras, questionable outfits, hot contestants, and Emmy's adorable internal snark:
I’m not looking for love; I’m not ready for it. My humiliating heartbreak was less than a year ago, but I haven’t come close to dealing with it. All I want is to get my business back up and running, and if it means selling my soul for a few episodes of free advertising, then that’s what I’m going to do. There’ll be no “vibing” with anyone. And, to be honest, it’s hard to believe any of those men would vibe with me when I’m standing next to seven women who appear to have come straight from the Victoria’s Secret runway.
Despite my usual indifference to reality tv shows, I found the ridiculous challenges and contestants so much fun, even more so than the actual budding romance between Emmy and Wes. Emmy and Wes connected almost instantly but their underdeveloped relationship often felt like an afterthought. In fact, so many questions were left unanswered that it almost felt like Emmy and Wes had a sweet HFN rather than a full stop HEA.
Wes felt like a bit of an enigma and I'm still baffled by his appearance on the show. The other contestants were a diverse group that I became more emotionally invested in than Emmy and Wes. Tbh, I hoped for a love triangle situation but no. And let's hope that Tad gets his own spinoff book.
I once asked a reality tv dating show obsessed friend why she adored them so much and her breathless answer: "They're so over-the-top ridiculous and fun!". Same goes for Emmy's Big Wild Love Adventure. Her journey from down on her luck baker and bride-to-be to reality tv darling was absolutely ridiculous and fun, and just the perfect summer read. Well, s long as you are not trying to survive the Panamanian jungle, that is.
The beginning of this book was really slow and dry however it does pick up once Emmy goes into the jungle.
I am not the biggest fan of reality TV but reading about the challenges and love connections made me actually want to watch similar shows that exist on TV today.
I had fun reading the parts where they are in the show and the different challenges. I felt some parts were a bit confusing as to why they happened for instance Emmy’s ex who is married and has a child comes on a show where they are finding love? Why? Also the final “task” at the end felt like they tried to shove “Love Is Blind” into the mix of this game show.
Also it was pretty unbelievable that everyone in her real life would side with her ex when he left her at the altar to be with his girlfriend who was six months. I felt like that could happen but the writing could have been better to portray the storyline.
I genuinely really liked Alex and Paige’s relationship and wish we had seen more.
Wes was actually really boring and you didn’t see any character growth.
I didn’t think I would love Tad but by the end of the book I adored his obnoxious self. He was such a sweetheart to Emmy at the end.
The couple I wanted to end up together didn’t which was disappointing and the ending was very rushed.
I would recommend this book but I would only suggest reading the chapters with the show content cause the beginning and ending are boring and not worth it. The show parts were probably the best parts for me personally that I read.
"i didn't know what to expect when i signed up for this show. i didnt expect to be dropped in the jungle, to meet these people, to form these types of friendships. and i really, really didn't expect to fall in love."
want to start off by saying thank you netgalley for this arc !!
ahh i loved this so much. it wouldn't be a book that i would pick up to read randomly, and really the only reason why i read it was because i saw it on netgalley, applied for it and got accepted to read it, and so when starting the book i didn't expect the greatest thing to come out of, especially since of the plot but it was so fucking cute.
it was such a fun read, and the found family was amazing. the reality tv show idea was amazing, and such a good idea. you don't see a lot of books with this kind of genre, so it was different.
wes and emmy have my heart. i was kinda confused who emmy would get together at first, and had to skin the blurb again for clarification that she was getting with wes. they started out without any chemistry, which i didn't really like and i was dreading writing a bad review because of that, but later into the book (like 40% in i want to say?) they started getting that chemistry i was craving for.
if i was totally different person and was reading that part of my review i probably wouldn't read this book because of the long wait, BUT during that 40% where wes and emmy didn't really have any chemistry, the found family came in, so it all goes together very nicely.
i recommend it very much and im very grateful i was able to get the arc for this book !! it was very fast paced and i finished it under 4 hours (it's 2am, but it's okay). if you are looking to get out of a reading slump, i recommend this book a lot !!
This is the perfect fun beach read for this summer!
I have to admit I'm addicted to reality dating shows, especially Love Is Blind and The Bachelor. And adventure romcom films like Lost City and The Proposal. So this book was just what I needed!
Big - It's a jungle out there... and in the villa in the middle of the jungle! It's also filled with big drama between couples, between new friendships, and of course, some made-for-TV moments! " Voices murmur goodnight, and soon it's just me and the soothing patter of the rain, the dark jungle surrounding me."
Wild - "They're just starting with the adventure part. They wouldn't let me die on the first day." Into the wild on her first day in the jungle. And every wild moment after! "I told you that things would only get harder as you continued this adventure.'
Love - I definitely had a favorite choice for Emmy, but did she end up with him? I'm not telling. 🥰 But I surely enjoyed the drama and sexual tension between Emmy and her options! (The kissing booth!)
Adventure - The Panamanian tropical rainforest came alive through the author's delicious descriptions of the lush flora and fauna. Not to mention mosquitoes. The scavenger hunt was a winning scene, as well as the candyland maze and the talent show! I felt like I was with Emmy on her adventure!
Highly recommend this original and well-crafted romcom! 10/10
I love summer reality tv shows so reading it in book form was so much fun!
Big Wild Love Adventure follows the story of Emmy, who was jilted at the altar when her fiancé says he can't marry her because he got his mistress pregnant. In the ten months since, she has been pouring everything into her food truck business, which makes one custom designed treat a day. Suffice to say, girl is not thriving. With the loving help of her friend (and alcohol), she decides to sign up to be a contestant on Big Wild Love Adventure, where she could walk away with $250,000. She is surprised to find out she gets picked and ends up going to Panama to compete for the cash prize- and maybe find love.
I love Rom Coms and dating shows and jumped at the chance to be a part of this book tour. This book did not disappoint. It's light, fun, and perfect for the beach! I loved the drama, romance, and the supporting characters are amazing.
In this book, we follow main character, Emmy, who has had a run of bad luck. About a year ago she was left at the alter (for his pregnant girlfriend of all things), her baking business needs a cash infusion. When her assistant suggests they sign up for a reality show (which she loves), and a few drinks later, their application is submitted. Emmy is shocked when she learns she been accepted and not only does she have a chance at a cash prize, but she also has the chance to find love, what could go wrong?
I loved the characters and all the shenanigans throughout the book. What I liked best is that each of the characters learned to know themselves better through self-discovery. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good reality show and I look forward to reading more of this author!
Thank you @Netgalley for the advanced reader copy!
This book is the perfect summer read!! I loved it. The witty conversations, the relatable characters, the reality tv show vibes. It was great!
Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read "Big Wild Love Adventure" by Julianna Keyes! This books is slated to come out on June 20th, 2022!
This novel tells the story of Emmy, who runs a well-loved but broken down food truck (dessert truck, really) in her hometown. She's behind on the rent and the truck is eventually taken to a junkyard. Living in her parents' basement on an air mattress un her late twenties definitely feels like one of the lowest moments of her life. So what's the reasonable solution to all of this? Get drunk with her best friend & business partner, and register herself for a reality television show, of course - to win some big bucks!
Now, I must admit that I myself am not personally a fan of reality television shows. However, I thoroughly enjoyed a majority of this book! I especially like that she became a more confident character who was capable of speaking up for herself by the end of the book. Reading how she stood up to her ex Eddie was on point! I did, however, take off some points for cheesiness revolving around the ending of the novel, which reminded me why I don't enjoy watching these kinds of show in real life - the insta-love aspect.
Overall, I would rate this story a 3.5 out of 5 stars!
I really enjoyed this book! It was refreshing how the conversation sections were smart, funny, and different than typical conversations within romance and even YA novels. The characters were fresh as well which was nice! Highly recommend and would recommend this to others! Full review to come on my Goodreads page!
Absolutely loved this book! A must summer read-- it hooks you at the beginning and takes you on a wild journey. If you love reality tv shows like Love Island or Bachelor in Paradise this is a good book for you. Even if you are not into those reality tv shows, this book is a really great summer love story read. I did visually feel I was watching a reality tv show reading this book- the details and the stories came to life in my mind. I loved being able to get more into the minds of the various characters on the show. The character arcs are really wonderful and you really get to know each character as the story goes on. I loved seeing how Emmy really grew as a person and changed over time.
Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this early copy of “Big Wild Love Adventure.”
Thank you to Julianna Keyes & Netgalley for the opportunity to review this ARC.
If you watch Love Island religiously, this book is for you, no questions asked! The author has written a delightful summer romance, following Emmy, a baker jilted at the alter who drunkenly applies to a reality dating show. The book follows the Love Island formula (or insert other dating reality show of your choice here), so expect the usual twists & turns in book format.
If you’re like me & don’t watch reality dating shows, here’s why you should still read this book: a great cast of characters, relatable MC & a fun, well paced book with off the charts summer vibes🏝
The book didn’t feel overly trope-y, had a very satisfying scene with the ex & a slightly more realistic ending than I expected. Overall a quick easy read & a book was made to be consumed on holiday by a pool or for the inevitable Love Island hangover!
Thank you to NetGalley, Julianna Keyes, and Victory Editing Co-Op for providing this e-ARC copy in exchange for my honest review.
I was super nervous about receiving this ARC the same day that it was set to be archived, but my nervousness disappeared as soon as I dove into "Big Wild Love Adventure." A great read, and very fast-paced!
My guilty pleasure TV shows are always reality dating shows, what a perfect mix to read a book like that. I felt like I was watching a show through a book. Everything that you love about a reality TV show, Julianna Keyes captures perfectly. You get to be inside the mind of one of the contestants, which is something you don't get just watching them on TV. The story was fun with adventure, drama, funny moments, and a sweet love story mixed in. I literally "Lol'ed" at so many parts!
The characters were very well written. They each had their own struggles to overcome, and grew individually as well as as a couple. Being able to see a character who started out having a rough time realize her worth was awesome to see. It made me so happy!! The support that Wes and Emmy have for each other is incredible. Especially realizing that they are better together than not.
I would 10/10 recommend this book to anyone who loves reality TV, romance, and adventure. I can't wait to read it again!
