Wow another great book by this lady
You’ll start this and not want to put it down
A well written story
And kept me guessing till the end
Thanks NetGalley
This was SO different from what I was expecting from this book after reading the description and after starting reading. I did not see where this was going but LOVED where it led. The ending ended up being so totally different from the rest of the book but in a lovely way that made complete sense. I was so intrigued by all of the main characters and couldn't see how things could possibly end up well for any of them with the web of lies they were tangled in. The concept of this was really great and I think this was executed in a really fresh, unique way. I can't wait to read more from Karen Clarke. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Yikes! Jack leaves Caitlin, gets in an accident, and then has no recollection of why he was leaving her. This was super fun to read because Caitlin is just grateful to have her husband home after a year, but she doesn’t know what he’s hiding. But with amnesia, neither does he. Let’s not forget he has another family that has no idea what’s happened to him. I loved the different POV’s, There are twists and turns you will never see coming!
This was a great read, from page one I was gripped and their is twists and turns galore throughout it and a lot I didn’t expect.. your husband leaves you for another woman but yet after he is the victim of a hit and run he has no memory of this other woman and can only remember you… bad case of amnesia…
I hate to give low stars but I have to be honest.
I found this book hard to read. It didn’t flow smoothly. I found myself wanting it to end quickly.
This was a weird book. Not totally enthused, but the storyline was there, with a little more tweaking it could be much better.
I'm huge Karen Clarke fan so when I saw this book on Netgalley, I just knew I had to read it and requested access to this title as soon as I could!
I could not imagine not knowing my husband is having an affair with another woman. Jack left Caitlin for Lydia yet when he's in a hit and run, he calls Caitlin. However, we later find out he is suffering from amnesia. He can't remember anything about Lydia.
You couldn't even write this. It was gripping and thrilling as per usual with Karen Clarke, she is the queen at keeping me reading and hooked to her books. I'd always recommend them. This was no different, I didn't expect the twists and turns that were thrown in. It was a rollercoaster of a journey and I was loving it.

The story is told by Caitlin, the woman that Jack left a year ago; and Lydia, the woman he's been in a relationship with since his breakup with Caitlin. When Jack is involved in a hit and run, it's Caitlin he calls to come and collect him from the hospital, not Lydia. It becomes apparent that Jack is suffering with amnesia and has no recollection of the past year or Lydia, and that there may be something more sinister going on.
This story begins slowly but soon gathers pace, and was engaging and addictive throughout. It's full of twists and turns, and had me questioning everything and everyone. The ending was a tangled web that I didn't see coming until it was unfolding before my eyes.
This was the first book I have read by Karen Clarke, I'm sure it won't be the last. (less) [edit]
The tangled threads between a man and two women are laid bare in this thriller that starts with male character Jack as the unfortunate victim of a hit-and-run accident. Suffering from amnesia, he has no recollection of his split from his former wife Caitlin, who takes him home to convalesce, or his more recent relationship with girlfriend Lydia, who is sure to confront Caitlin at some stage as they fight over Jack. But can either woman totally trust Jack as more and more details about his suspicious past emerge?
Expertly plotted and quickly gathering pace, this is riveting read that will be sure to gather Karen Clarke many new readers. Thank you to NetGalley and to the publishers for the complimentary ARC I received that allowed me to produce this unbiased book review.
Intense! When Jack is the victim of a hit a run and has amnesia, he doesn't remember separating from his wife Caitlin or his new partner Lydia. Caitlin then picks Jack up from hospital and carries on from where they left off, not telling him that they were no longer together. But can Jack really not remember? I loved this twists and turns throughout and the constant suspicion of all of the main characters. There was also a brilliant twist at the end which left me gasping until the very last page.

Synopsis: Jack has been in a hit and run accident. He has no memory of why he left Caitlin, no clue about his new family who are worried he’s missing, and no recollection of the phone call he made two weeks ago – I made a terrible mistake that I can’t put right. All I can do is get out. Jack is different to the man that walked out a year ago – his mood seems more volatile, and Caitlin is certain he is hiding a secret of his own. But Caitlin finally has her husband by her side and with Jack suffering from amnesia, surely the easiest thing would be to stay quiet… but can you really trust a man who simply vanished from your life?
My Thoughts: The story is narrated by Caitlin and Lydia, from their perspectives. The story does start out slow but quickly picks up. I love the dual narration as you get both sides of the equation, but then you have to weed out the truth. The characters were well developed with depth, emotion, mysterious, and work together well, not everyone is likable. The author does a brilliant job of playing off each of the women’s personality. The author’s writing style was complex, twisty, suspenseful, and gripping. It was a fast paced, page turning (after the initial slow start) that I read quickly. The story is built well, starts with character building and backstory filling, has multiple twisty layers to the plot, and the ending was a bit of a intertwined web, but brilliant. Clarke’s writing makes you feel like you are right there in the scene with the characters, and I love that. This is a first author for me, but will not be a last. If you like a good domestic thriller, I would recommend picking up this book that was released last month.
I am sorry to say that this book disappointed me. The start was good, but then it all got very interwoven with characters popping up and down in strange places. I found it hard to reconcile the distance between Brighton and Robin Hood's Bay as it seemed unlikely that a person would still have such close contacts at such a distance.
The story became even more convoluted towards the end, where I feel it reached a height of confusion that was not pleasant.
Caitlyn is suprised to hear that her estranged husband has had an accident and that she is his next of kin. They have been separated for a year. Nevertheless, she crosses the country to pick him up from the hospital and finds out that he has amnesia after the accident. During the separation, Jack had a relationship with Lydia, building a good bond with her teenage son. Lydia reports him missing and then tracks him down, following him up to the North Yorkshire coast.
The story is told from both Lydia's and Caitlyn's viewpoint and you read about their suspicions about Jack, about arguments and in Lydia's case about the relationship she had with her deseased husband and her son. The plot is well told and seeds of doubt are sown about all of the main characters. The truth, when it comes out is believable though perhaps a little too neatly sown up . A good and suspenseful read.

This was a good book with an interesting twist but it didn’t hold my attention like I would have hoped. The twist wasn’t as dramatic as I think it was meant to be and whilst I did enjoy reading it, it wasn’t a can’t put this down kind of read. Glad I gave it a good though.
i received an advanced readers copy of this book from @netgalley, but it’s available to everyone now!
Caitlin receives a surprising call from the hospital after her husband, Jack, was involved in a hit and run accident. Jack is thrilled to see his wife when she arrives at the hospital; but he has no recollection of their past, specifically that they’ve been separated for the past year. Caitlin, eager for a fresh start between them, is hesitant to break the news, and instead moves Jack back in with her.
meanwhile, Jack’s current partner, Lydia, is out looking for him. after her previous husband passed away, she has leaned on Jack and the positive influence he has been to her son. unwilling to let her son go through another loss, Lydia begins searching for Jack. when Lydia realizes that he’s made it back to his ex and doesn’t remember who she is, she vows to get him back and break them apart for good, and will do whatever it takes to get her life with Jack back.
this book was told in both Caitlin and Lydia’s perspectives, so readers are able to make connections with both characters and understand their inner conflicts throughout. it had some good twists and role reversals, but wasn’t overly suspenseful or thrilling to me. there were a few moments where I wasn’t sure which characters were good or bad, but I realized pretty early on how it was going to play out. while I found it a bit lacking overall in suspense, i still enjoyed the read!
Lures you in until you can’t escape. Nothing and no one is quite what they seem. So gripping from the first page to the last. Fast paced, unpredictable and original with a twist that made me gasp out loud. Dramatic, atmospheric and fast paced.
My Husband's Secret by Karen Clarke is a compelling domestic thriller that kept me glued to the pages.
Jack has been in an accident and wakes up asking for his partner, Caitlin. Caitlin is quick to respond in his hour of need, but is confused as to why she has been called as she and Jack have not been together for more than a year, ever since he walked out. Realizing that he is suffering from amnesia, Caitlin takes advantage of the situation and convinces Jack that he never left. Lydia, meanwhile, is Jack's current partner and is desperate to have him back.
Told from the alternating perspectives of Caitlin and Lydia, Jack's story begins to unfold, and secrets are revealed that will change everything. If you love a twisty narrative with a conclusion that you will not see coming, this is it. Well played Ms Clarke.
Many thanks to NetGalley and HQ Digital for an ARC.
Great set-up for a story. Caitlin receives a phone call and rushes to the hospital after her husband Jack has been in a car accident. Turns out he left her a year ago after she did something unforgivable, but he has amnesia and doesn’t remember the events of the past year. Caitlin seizes this as an opportunity to reunite with him, and keeps their year-long separation a secret from him. Lydia is the woman Jack has been with over the past year, who is determined to find him and get her man back. There are plenty of secrets, twists and craziness in this one and I raced through it to figure out what was going on.
A domestic thriller that kept me engaged and wanting to know what happened. My Husband's Secret was definitely a page turner - fast paced and intriguing.
This is my first read from Karen Clarke but definitely won't be my last.
A solid 4 star read for me!
