Ben Larsen needs a deterrent. His family wants to see him married. Maybe it’s time to give them what they want. His best friend, Amber Croft is engaged, but not to him. If he borrows her for the week. When I started reading I couldn't put it down.KyAnn Waters is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this books. Can't wait for the next book
Absolutely yes! I really enjoyed reading this novel. The characters were fun, it held my interest, and provided an escape from reality. I would definitely recommend!
A fake engagement between two friends leads to complications and love. Ben and his best friend, Amber, are inseparable. While she’s engaged to his military buddy, she’s off-limits. But that doesn’t stop his heart yearning for sweet Amber. With his family pressuring him to marry, a plan falls into place, kind of. Amber offers to be his pretend fiancée to get his mother and his ex off his back. He agrees. The next week proves to be a stress test for both Ben and Amber. There’s nothing fake about the way he feels about Amber. His caresses are real, as are his kisses. He wants Amber for his very own, but truths come out that threaten to sever his heart in two. Can his borrowed bride become his real bride who loves him in spite of his money, or will the lies tear them apart?
Borrowing the Bride is a steamy military rom com I couldn’t stop reading. This romance blends a few tropes and is an unforgettable read. From the get-go, I connected with Ben. He’s such a sweet guy and deserves honest-to-goodness love. He’s in the military and his best bud is engaged to the woman Ben secretly loves. It’s a not-so-new twist on a love triangle, but KyAnn Waters adds her own spin to this trope. There’s a huge amount of chemistry between Ben and Amber. It was great fun seeing them dance back and forth. Sure, they have a lot of feelings and lies to overcome but it made the ending all the juicier. There are plenty of scenes with humorous dialogue which is my reading jam. Any romance reader who loves steamy romance needs to read Borrowing the Bride. KyAnn Waters is a scintillating writer who writes unforgettable characters and hot romance. Her stories are relatable, honest, and realistic romance and you don’t want to miss out. Highly recommend!

What do you do when your best friend needs to pretend to be engaged to get his family to stop setting him up with the girl he is not interested in? You fly home with him and play the part of his pretend fiance of course! Forbidden best friend love- that is what you will find in this story!
I think I liked this book a bit more than some of the reviews that I have already read from the advanced copies. This book follows Ben Larsen and Amber Croft of their journey to finally admit their feelings to one another. Amber is engaged to Ben's best friend Pete, but the relationship is not as rosy as it seems. This book had all of the elements to be wonderful: forbidden love, best friends falling in love, far away places and billionares. This book started off strong and really had a lot of potential, but as I got further in, I kept wishing there was more. Near the end I felt as though some of the story lines were extremely rushed and while the beginnings of each of those story lines held a lot of promise, they just fell slightly flat. Don't get me wrong-they were all wonderful story lines they all worked extremely well in terms of moving the story forward and the speed at which they were moving is how many of those events happen in real life. My only wish was that some of them had been fleshed out more in the beginning so the reader could get a better picture as to why and how they were happening near the end.
Overall, I still think this was a good read. There was plenty of will they won't they in the beginning, the spice was fantastic (not overly graphic but not underdone to the point where you want more) and I loved the relationship between Ben and Amber (something I wish was explored a bit more as well) as well as Ben and his family.
I couldn’t get into the storyline. It seemed like it was going to be good but there was just too much going on and couldn’t connect with the characters.
This was an OK read but I struggled to relate with the characters.
It is supposed to be a good story as I'm a sucker for bestfriends to lovers trope and fake dating but
I couldnt feel the connection between them.
the story was too fast paced.
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Backlit PR for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is sort of a mixed bag for me. I loved the chemistry between Ben and Amber. I thought Ben was a nice guy (a little misguided but nice). I didn't like the secrets, lies, cheating, and Ben's mom obsession with pushing marriage. Then throw in all the extra crazy stuff (crazy ex's, etc). It was over the top, and convoluted, but I did enjoy it in an odd way. 3 stars
Thank you to the publisher and to Netgalley for giving me this book to me to review.
This is a 2 for me as I had to DNF it at around 65-70%.
Potential spoilers below:
The main girl's fiance is the actual worst and the guy who borrows her is also sort of terrible because he lies to her all/fails to tell her pretty damn important stuff all of the time about. There is the trope of annoying ex-girlfriend which I don't like and the main guy's mother is the actual worst and made me so angry with the pushing of marriage and stuff. I think if you like drama and you don't mind cheating where the two main characters confess their feelings pretty early on then this could be for you but not for me.
For me, the two characters were better when they were best friends and the book lost its spark around the 50%.
Ben and Amber have amazing connection and the attraction between them makes for a satisfying read. I would definitely be happy to recommend this book for your next weekend read. Looking forward to reading more by this author. Happy reading everyone.
I really enjoyed Ben and Amber. The chemistry is great. The romance was a bit of a slow burn but when it finally caught, WOW! I also loved Ben's family. That part was realistic and relatable. So were the crazy exes! That added a bit of tension that balanced the doses of humor. The truth about Ben's birth family was a bit out there but it was something different. Overall I liked this book a lot and will read this author again.

This story started off in a great direction. I really enjoyed the characters and the ruse they were trying to pull with his family. But then it just got a bit much with several other storylines that if felt hard to keep track of everything. Overall still an enjoyable read

This story started strong. I enjoyed the friendship that Ben and Amber had from the beginning. I also liked the premise of them pretending to be engaged to avoid his matchmaking mother. But then they seemed to throw in every dramatic trope, including the kitchen sink, to keep this story going. Birth secrets, inheritances, cancer, and crazy exes, make this plot way too busy, and it lost my interest by the halfway point. The fact that the whole cheating aspect technically had a basis left me feeling cranky. I give Borrowing The Bride 2/5 stars for my final rating.
