I have been loving this series! Ivy McQuaid is the only girl in the McQuaid family. Her older brothers have established a life in Colorado near Fairplay and their spouses are all unique and talented. Ivy is both of those but not really into feminine pursuits. One of her favorite things is steer roping. Jericho Bliss has know Ivy since they were kids playing on the trail to Colorado and he is now a lawman and back in the area. He is not happy with Ivy's escapades but feels like he can't intervene because he has vowed to stay away from women since he doesn't feel he can get married in his current occupation -- too dangerous. Ivy wants Jericho and she also wants her own ranch away from her brothers. This was one of the most fun books of this series -- and they were all fun! Can't wait to see the last brother's story in the next book in the series!

This is the fourth book in Jody Hedlund’s Colorado Cowboys series. It really helps if you read the first books (A Cowboy for Keeps, The Heart of a Cowboy, and To Tame a Cowboy) before this one in order to read the stories of the older McQuaid brothers, Wyatt, Flynn & Brody, and understand many of the characters that show up again in this book. This new book is about their “little” sister Ivy.

I had a hard time putting this book down! Ivy has had a crush on Jericho since she was quite young. He walked out of her life, seemingly without a backward glance, and suddenly he shows up again. Watch out as things sizzle every time Ivy and Jericho cross paths. If you get frustrated when two people are attracted to each other, but don’t acknowledge it, don’t communicate well with each other, and drive each other nuts, then this book may frustrate you :-) Hedlund does an excellent job in dragging out the tension, the attraction, the frustrations – making you wonder if the two will ever face up to the attraction and admit they love each other. Throw in some bad guys, a forest fire, angry brothers trying to protect their impulsive “little” sister, and just life in Colorado in the late 1800s, and you’ll have a hard time putting this book down too!

Picked this up to read the first few chapters before bed time....and ended up staying up way past my bedtime and read until I reached the conclusion because I could not put it down. Jody has done it again! *chef's kiss*

I loved these characters! I loved getting to know more about Ivy and Jericho individually as well as their relationship with one another. The first chapter had me hooked right away and I was enthralled to see Ivy didn't take long to get up to some shenanigans on the page. I love her strong will and her spirit. I also loved how Jericho sees her and appreciates her exactly as she is, the woman who doesn't quite fit the mold of what a lady should look like and behave like. The twists, the secrets, the discoveries along the way make this story a gripping journey that practically turned the pages all on their own.

Read this if you love:
💙 friends to enemies to lovers
💙 a bit of the secret identity trope
💙 protective older brothers
💙 coming of age stories
💙 swoony kisses

I think this series just keeps getting better and better, I can't wait to see what's in store next for this heartwarming family!

Many thanks to Jody Hedlund and Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book, all opinions are my own.

Jody Hedlund’s Colorado Cowboys series has been utter perfection so far, and Falling For the Cowgirl is a wonderful addition to the McQuaid family’s story. I have been greatly intrigued by Ivy and Jericho since book two (The Heart of a Cowboy), and since reading the last chapter of book three (To Tame a Cowboy) I have been dying to get my hands on their love story. With super swoony romance, fascinating history, and a to-die-for setting, readers are sure to love Falling For the Cowgirl.

Ivy is one of the most unique heroines I have ever read about—I can’t think of another who ropes and rides in cowhand competitions! She is perfectly matched with Jericho, who I would definitely love to know in real life (if we’re being honest, I’d like to know all the McQuaid men in real life 😉). I also loved getting to know some of the minor characters better, whose stories I’m hoping to read one day.

If you enjoy romance with historical intrigue and compelling characters, you NEED to read Hedlund’s books, and this series is the perfect place to start. Although I’m sad this series will end with Dylan’s story (The Last Chance Cowboy, releasing in Feb. 2023), it has become one of my absolute favorites and I highly recommend it to everyone! 4.5/5 stars

Falling For The Cowgirl is the fourth book in the Colorado Cowboys series and the long awaited story of Ivy McQuaid.

Sister to the four McQuaid brothers, Ivy more than knows how to stand her ground and hold her own on a horse and cattle ranch. But it’s her dream to have her own spread. She’s been entering cowboy competitions, disguised as a man, to raise the funds she needs to buy the land. But when Jericho Bliss rides back into town, everything is thrown into chaos. Of course, he immediately sees through Ivy’s disguise and threatens to tell her brothers if she doesn’t stop with the dangerous competitions. And then there are the feelings she’s long carried for Jericho. And he’s never done anything but treat her like a sister. What Jericho can’t tell Ivy is that he is now a Pinkerton Agent, hunting down a dangerous killer, and following his feelings for Ivy could get her hurt. It’s something he’s vowed never to do, but it is hard to ignore the deep friendship between them and the blazing attraction they share.

I had to laugh at the many compromising situations Ivy and Jericho find themselves in. It makes for some blazing scenes. There is no denying the chemistry they share, but what I really loved was the friendship that their relationship is built upon. Having read the previous three books, Ivy and Jericho have been strong characters throughout the series. They been through a lot together, first friends, then awkward young adults, then separated by time and distance. Now, reunited, you can sense all those layers. When they are not arguing, (or kissing) it’s their gentle teasing and endless banter that speaks to their connection. Hedlund writes such fantastic romance.

Along with the romance is, of course, plenty of action and drama. Jericho is hunting a dangerous killer and Ivy is apt to get herself in sticky situations. Luckily she also pretty good at getting herself out of trouble.

I’m also excited to learn that there will be a book five in the series, featuring the wayward Dylan McQuaid.
