I tried to read this book several times when it was sent to me. I struggled getting into the mind of the characters, and I think that happens with non binary ones. That's not the fault of the author, but sometimes descriptions help.. I do feel like the author was trying to capitalize on the success of Red White and Royal Blue or Boyfriend Material
Were there parts that tugged at my heart strings? Yes. But unfortunately, there were more parts that made me want to scream at Charlie for just being so downright miserable. It overshadowed the rest of the storyline and I just struggled to get through it.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for giving me this e-arc to review. I enjoyed this read, the characters were not unpleasant, and I could really feel their passion for one another. However, I feel the passion overshadowed other parts of the romance, and would enjoy a slightly more emotional journey, with perhaps less sex.
I would give this a three and a half, but I'm round up : )
When London Snow Falls is a sweet, easy romance perfect for readers who enjoy an instant connection with plenty of heart, humor, and heat. This heartwarming story pairs hot rocker Ben with adorable, anxious Charlie, a college student with too many commitments and too little time. He has a plan, and falling for a quirky, indie rocker isn’t part of it.
I’m normally not a fan of instalove, but this story somehow just works. Maybe it’s because there’s a slight build as Ben continues to visit Charlie at the coffee shop where he works, the same place they first meet. When they finally decide to meet outside of the shop, however, things escalate quickly. There’s an intensity to their connection that suggests there might be more than attraction between them.
Miscommunication and misunderstanding play a major role in creating tension and conflict in this story. Charlie’s anxiety works overtime to convince him he doesn’t deserve someone like Ben, a feeling compounded by his homophobic parents. He’s overwhelmed, vulnerable, and the panic he feels leads to some not so great decisions and heartache all around.
In all of this Ben is a DREAM. He’s the perfect boyfriend - patient, loyal, funny, and caring - although he has some baggage of his own. I can’t imagine a more perfect balance for Charlie; the way he constantly supports Charlie while also refusing to accept less than he deserves in their relationship only makes me love him more.
Let me say the first book of this series is very good! Try
it!
This one felt flat in all places possible. After I read the
first one through Netgalley I got the hand of the second
one, although independent stories I thought the idea
would be the same.
I was totally wrong!
While the first story felt organic, and well-paced the
characters had development, were deep, and the
romance flowed very well, this one felt very fake.
Everything happened super-fast, like the way they so
hardly fell in love with each other, I don’t know just
everything was super-fast. Days and weeks passed
without taking notice, and the resolutions were very
plain!
I cannot compare the two books and how distinctive
they were while I really enjoyed the first, on this one I
did not connect with the characters, the story, and the
overall plot.
Yes, they had cute moments, and some moments I was
like aww but mostly I felt just confused, bored, and
expecting something.
I will still be looking forward to the next book by this
author maybe it was just one and see if the first was
the exception or this one.
It's a raining day today and I read most of this book this morning and afternoon. I enjoyed this story very much.
Very well written and very much entertaining
Really I just need to stop trying romances. I enjoyed the teeny bit of banter before it leapt straight to physical but there wasn’t enough build and up for me to be interested in rooting for the relationship.
Basically it’s the they meet and are gobsmacked by each other, immediate lust, but then complications and finally happily ever after.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me free access to the digital advanced copy of this book.
This book was 10x spicier than I was expecting, which of course I loved. It was a solid 3.5/5 when the cutesy cartoon covers usually don’t get spicier than a 2.5 or 3.
The characters were likable and you were rooting for them. The MC’s flaws kept adding up, like he couldn’t have one thing wrk g with him, he needed 12— lots of baggage. Over all a cute little gay rom com- would totally recommend to friends
Funny, sweet winter romance! I will be recommending this to any fans of Red, White, and Royal Blue! Great banter and steamy scenes!
Charlie, a barista, university student, father, and guitarist, falls hard for Ben, a fellow musician and apparent regular at his coffee shop, in the charming romance "When London Snow Falls." The issue is that Charlie strictly prohibits dating. Ben would be difficult to resist falling in love with. He exemplifies genuine, irreverent self-expression. As a result, Charlie constantly experiences anxiety: Is it true that he doesn't actually have time for a relationship? And even if he did, nobody would fall for him like Ben would, right?
When the weather is gloomy, WLSF is the perfect book to read in a cozy afternoon. The romance between Ben and Charlie was such a wonderful escape. My only gripe is that I am unsure whether novels always capture the internal experience of living with anxiety well. It was at times difficult to peruse Charlie's internal talk since his nerves appeared so ... dreary? The cyclical nature of anxious thoughts, such as "I can't date because I have to work because I have to pass uni because I have to provide for my family, and therefore I cannot date because I have to," was not conveyed in the way that I had hoped.
However, I do believe that Emily's character was a wonderful addition that ultimately demonstrated to Charlie that his anxious thoughts are not his reality—or that they do not have to be. One of my favorites was their conversation because it showed how disconnected from reality anxiety can make you and how Charlie finally got it.
This was a cute, Steamy, fun read and I highly recommend it to all the people who like Roan Parrish or NA Walker.
This one was a fairly enjoyable winter romance that was very cozy, cute, romantic and sexy as fuck.
I had requested it a long time ago from Entangled on NetGalley, and I'm so glad I ended up reading it during the Christmas season because it really made a difference.
The things I really enjoyed about this book:
. Both main characters felt very different yet also similar, which really worked for me.
They're both in bands, good at music, on the younger side and I feel like their similarities made them a perfect match and it was refreshing not to read yet another opposites attract romance.
. The setting, London in snow, was wonderful and utterly Christmassy.
. Honestly, I liked how fast paced this was.
They fucked the first time they really met, aka the third time he came to the coffee shop, and I feel like that's accurate for a lot of gay relationships and how they begin.
Do I also get why some people wouldn't like that? Sure, but not every romance is going to be a slow burn one.
. The romance, having fucked, was quite well developed and I really enjoyed the chemistry they had and the cute lil dates they went on.
. The sex scenes, albeit repetitive and not super original, outside of the yarn bondage (yes, you heard me right, and it was incredible) and the initial coffee shop sex, were good as well.
. I really loved how emotional this book was while also maintaining a lighter tone.
Charlie's anxiety, his young dad situation, coupled with Ben's vulnerability just did it for me.
. I absolutely adored how Ben was there for Charlie, especially with Charlie's parents and the situation with the car.
. The conflict, albeit predictable, was well done and I loved how they made up and got back together.
The aspects I didn't really enjoy:
. This book was repetitive.
Both in Charlie's inner monologue, always going on and on about needing to deprive himself of everything to support Carys and Emily, and the sex scenes.
I get that he's a young dad who wants to support his lil family, but he didn't have to go on and on about it every couple of chapters. We get it.
That's basically it lol.
I really enjoyed this one and it just did it for me, but I strongly recommend you read this during the Christmas season or at least when it's snowing.
I really wanted to love this one, but ultimately the narration and dialogue weren’t a match for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

I really liked this book, worth reading.
This was a lovely, quite story that just curled up under my skin in the best way. Charlie and Ben are a delight and I Ioved their banter, humor and heart and watching them gradually fall in love. Hayden Stone does an excellent job of handling Charlie's anxiety and capturing how it can affect every small bit of your day-to-day life. Ben is a treat and I loved so much how he wouldn't let Charlie push him away, that he saw through to the heart of things and kept fighting for their relationship. The side characters of Emily, sweet little Carys, Michael, Jenna and the bandmates were all a delight as well, not to mention Great Aunt May and Katherine! I really enjoy Stone's take on making relationships work between every day folk and celebrities and this was no exception. I cannot wait to see what other stories come our way from Stone in the future.
There's not a lot of exciting things about this book. The romance set-up was nice and somewhat relatable/real. But everything else was not. Charlie was too insecure to the point where its ALL of his inner monologues. How Ben found this charming is a mystery and sounds like a savior complex. The banter was repetitive and predictable and it was cringy throughout. The only redeeming quality of this for me was the ending, everything else was blaah. 2.5 rounding up to 3
This one, I must admit, is a bit of a disappointment. Based on the summary, I was looking forward to this, but it fell quite short for me. My biggest issue with this was the characters. Ben was fantastic, and in any other book, Ben would be the guy you could build a whole series around. Charlie is the issue. I cannot fathom how anyone would want to tie themselves to someone like Charlie and try to call this a contemporary romance. Charlie is so self-deprecating it's intolerable. I understand the connection between mental illness and self-worth and his growth through the novel, but he was so tiring to read about I couldn't fathom being in a relationship with someone like this. I had a lot of issues with the relationship between Ben and Charlie, the relationship between Charlie and his family, and how to enforce boundaries. I just wanted this to be more than it was. I like romances to fill me with daydreams and contentment, not to be reminded of why I left mentally tiring relationships.
This the second book I have read by Hayden Stone. After this book I'm not sure his writing is for me. His type of characters are the type that get on my nerves. Indecisive, nervous, full of anxiety, timid.
Charlie the MC of this novel has a LOT going on in his life...and thinks about it non-stop in a circular motion that does not actually go anywhere. He finds ways to avoid his problems in a way that is totally realistic but aggravating.
Have a paper to write that you've already got an extension on? Well, looks like those curtains need to be washed and the kitchen deep cleaned.
Charlie, is a push over. He constantly allows his family to treat him like shit and allows them to talk down to him. He 24/7 thinks about making money to send to his baby-momma so much that it makes me wonder if she is doing anything? Why have a baby when you can't afford one.
The romance in this book starts off very much like the first novel in the series. Two people that barely know each other immediately having sex and then working on a relationship later. It's not my favorite set up for a romance. I enjoy the slow burn of two characters getting to know each other before having an intimate relationship. I also felt that the slight BDSM in this book didn't fit and felt unrealistic.
I think many people will be able to relate to Charlie and will feel value in his experiences and what he goes through to be able to trust Ben.
Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this novel for a fair review.
