I couldn't read this as an ebook for some reason so will get it when it comes out! Sorry! (Leaving a 4 star review to be fair.)

Sadly this one just wasn't for me, I didn't really click with the characters or the story but I do think it's just a personal preference and I think others would love this!

The Love of my Other Life by CJ Connolly
.
After crashing her bike, Josie wakes up in the hospital to find her mom and sister…..and a man she has never seen before who everyone says is her husband.
.
What I liked:
-I love “what if” type stories and this one had a few elements that were different and I’ve never seen in a story before. I really liked how it made the story fresh and original.
-This was an entertaining read, yet also very sobering. I appreciated the serious conversations Josie had with the people in her new life.
-The ending was sweet and I was happy to see all that the characters learned through the story.
.
4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I don’t want to say more and accidentally give anyway any of the fun things that make this story original. Also, I listened to the audio and the narrator was very good.

Unfortunately I could not get into this book - other readers may enjoy it more. I did not finish it in the end

The Love of My Other Life by C.J. Connolly is a perfect fit for readers who adore intriguing, emotionally charged romance novels that explore the complexities of love, identity, and the what-ifs of life, particularly those who enjoy speculative fiction and are drawn to stories that delve into the mysteries of parallel universes and alternate realities.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of The Love Of My Other Life Life by C.J. Connolly in exchange for an honest review.

I was intrigued by the blurb and premise of this book and went into it admittedly with high expectations.

The story overall was enjoyable, however there were repetitive scenes that made it feel like the book kept dragging on.

I was so enamoured by the blurb and the premise of this book and had high expectations for it.

I struggled to find my mojo with this and despite repeated attempts I found I had to slog my way through what I'd hoped would be a more enjoyable experience.

Sadly, this one, was not for me!

This was such a fun book to read! I read it in a couple of days, and I couldn’t put it down. In between my reading sessions, I would think about the characters and wonder how it might end. The characters were engaging, and I felt for the conflicts they were in. What a terrific story of how your life can go in a totally opposite direction that you think might be the answer to your problems.

Thank you for the opportunity to review this book. Unfortunately since requesting the book, my reading tastes have changed and it would be unfair to review this book as I do not think I could give it the review that would be justified

In "The Love of My Other Life," Connolly skillfully weaves a tale of self-discovery, underscored by a sci-fi twist that highlights life's brevity.

The narrative introduces Josie, whose life seems picture-perfect in Brooklyn—great career, a supportive boyfriend, everything falling into place. However, an accident changes everything, revealing that her reality isn't as it seemed.

As Josie navigates this new, unfamiliar life, the novel touches on the stress and emotional strain she faces, mourning the life she once knew. Connolly effectively portrays the fragility of life and the inevitable confrontation with personal truths.

While offering an insightful reflection on life's unpredictability, the book occasionally falters in its writing style, making some of the more challenging themes less effectively conveyed. Nonetheless, it's a compelling read for those seeking a semi-serious storyline exploring profound topics.

I was really intrigued by the premise of this book but unfortunately it fell a little bit flat for me, it was an okay read but it just didn’t blow me away, at times I always felt like it dragged so found myself skimming.

Rounded up to 3 stars

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

josie is living her life when she has an accident and wakes up as an alternate universe version of herself. the other universe josie is dealing with the same thing. they both try to figure out how to live in their new lives.

i was really intrigued with the premise of this story but it fell a little flat for me. the similarities in their lives became very repetitive. the josie's were both likable but also irritating.

this felt more women's lit and less romance thriller than i was expecting. i didn't love or hate this one.

I felt like this book was a lovely romance, and it definitely felt like a summer read, one to take on a day trip to the beach maybe. I found myself loving the romance elements, and the funny moments. Even when the heartbreak hits, and hits you right in the feels it does, I found the book to be beautiful. The writing style really sucked me in, I found it easy to read and poetic in a sense. I was able to finish this book in a weekend and I feel like this is a book everyone needs to add to their summer TBR.

I loved the concept of the book but the execution didn't work out for me. Not a bad book but I wasn't wow'd either.

3.25⭐
Genre ~ women's fiction
Publication date ~ June 30, 2022
Page Count ~ 366
Audio length ~ 10 hours 39 minutes
Narrator ~ Claire Storey
POV ~ single 1st & 3rd
Featuring ~ debut, 6 part story, dated chapters, amnesia, minimal steamage

Josie's unique story is told in 6 parts ~ 3 for Me told in the 1st and 3 for Her told in the 3rd. It didn't alternate chapter after chapter, but we get 8-10 chapters before the switch up. I thought that was a good way to do it, so it didn't get too confusing. I liked that she kept a journal to help document what was going on with her mind.

There were some slow points when it dragged a bit for me because Josie had two different personalities. Repetition also, when we switch timelines. At times I didn't really care for her. I don't like when there's talk about body image. First thing when she wakes up is that she notices she's 30 lbs lighter. Calls herself plumper once. "And me, my old self - regular Josie, with shoulder-length dark blonde hair, and a bit of extra weight," "It looks lovely, despite the extra weight I'm carrying," blah blah, love yourself girl!.

Overall, a decent debut with an interesting plot. I wonder if there is another one of me running around being awesome somewhere, if so I'm sure she's just as delightful as I am in that parallel universe.

This so a good read. But the ending was a bit rushed and I wish the author would have written more about the ending. And not rush it. But the story was beautiful.

A book with a lesson, The Love of My Other Life, teaches how short life is with its own sci-go twist.

The book follows Josie which presents how great her life is at the start with her living in Brooklyn, having the best boyfriend and doing well in her career. When an accident happens, her life is turned upside down when she realised that all of what she thought her life was, isn’t real.

Josie then has to wrap her head around her “new” life, the stresses that comes with it, and mourn her old life.

Connolly’s book presents the reader an idea that life is very short for anyone, and anything can suddenly happen. She also shows that life maybe perfect at one end but eventually many people will eventually have to face their “realities” whether they want to or not.

This book is certainly a clever read for those in need of a semi-serious storyline that deals with some difficult topics. However, some of the writing styles within this book were difficult at times which didn’t exactly make those topics be written very well.

Hello

Apologies for the late notice, but I have decided not to review this title.

While I am certain it's obvious by now, I wanted to also clear this off NetGalley, so it's not showing as open for either of us.

I look forward to continuing to work with you in 2023 and beyond.

Laura
