Thrilling read! I was able to connect with all of the characters and throughly enjoyed the story the author painted.
I enjoyed this book, I thought the premise was quirky and well executed, I liked the characters and thought the ending was great! Quite fluffy and great for a holiday read, I would definitely recommend this x
I was excited to read this book based on the synopsis and the concept of the book. However, this one fell somewhat flat for me. I did not particularly connect with the MC, and I think that had a lot to do with it. It wasnt bad, but it was definitely not my favorite. I think it was just ok.
I read 70% of the story but sadly then gave up. I felt the book was taking a long time to get anywhere and I really didn’t like the characters that much. There wasn’t a lot of depth to them or the plot and I sadly just lost interest. Such a shame as the synopsis sounded so good and Reminiscent of the film Sliding Doors.
If you are looking for a cute and easy to read book. This would be the book for you. It's easy to follow along and an enjoyable read.
Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from NetGalley. This was an enjoyable, easy read. I was engaged with the parallel worlds premise, and enjoyed how the author created two similar but distinct personalities for the two versions of the main protagonist. The setting and imagery was crafted well.
This was a first time read for me by this author. The story was entertaining and unique and was a fun and enjoyable read. The premise of an alternate universe was interesting, and there was a strong emotional aspect as well, which made the characters more relatable and realistic. They were well-developed and I enjoyed getting to know them and follow their story. The story was creatively written and very entertaining. I would definitely like to read more by this author. Overall, this was an enjoyable and entertaining book and I am glad to have had the opportunity to read it.
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
The Love of My Other Life is a nice twist on the expected coma romance trope. Unfortunately, I just didn’t like Josie. It feels like no matter her situation, she is incapable of being happy; any spark of joy is quickly extinguished, often for very little reason. To be fair, I don’t think there are many characters I did like. There was no complexity – everyone showed up to play the necessary role and then faded into the background. With no exploration into motivations or histories, the entire narrative felt superficial.
I was hoping for a twist – something to turn this multiverse into a psychological thriller – but that’s just me trying to force my preferences onto a different kind of story. When everything kept going in the predictable direction, though, I will admit I lost interest. It was pretty clear that regardless of what happened, Josie would find a way to be unhappy and blame it on Rob while taking no responsibility for her actions. I understand I’m being hypocritical – I can’t stand instalove, but everything here took. so. long. But not because we got a lot of details. Instead, months seem to go by with no change in these relationships or any plot development. It’s easy to skip from Christmas to Valentine’s Day to Easter if nothing happens in between these holidays.
Fairly average with a few good moments The Love of My Other Life is a nice change on an expected trope but just didn’t do it for me.
I found myself dipping in and out of it. It was an easy read but I was able to predict quite a lot of it.
The premise of this book was very interesting – main character Josie experiences her life in parallel universes after a biking accident. In one timeline, Josie is a single radio show host who spends her free time singing in a choir and crushing on a few choirmate. In the other, she is married to a wealthy architect, working in a marketing position at her dream company and living in a gorgeous penthouse.
The characters were a little challenging to connect with and the dialogue was a bit clunky, making it a little difficult for me to really enjoy the book. Overall, the book was a quick, easy read that kept me turning pages to see how it all came to an end.
Thank you to NetGalley, Joffe Books and C.J. Connolly for an advance copy.
Meh... beautiful cover and interesting plot, but it was not remarkable to me. Thank you for the arc.
I did find the premise of the book interesting, however I don’t think the story was executed too well. The characters lacked ‘character’ so it was difficult to want to connect to any one of them. Also, the means by which the character(s) had to take to get back to their original timeline was a bit extreme in my opinion.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my e-copy of this book.
A quick and easy read that I found myself picking up after a long day to unwind. The characters are beautifully written and I came to love them within the first few pages and was rooting for them all the way to the end. At times I wanted to stop reading because I just wanted the experience to go on for longer.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I must say the synopsis really drew me into this book and I was very curious. The entire time I was reading it the story didn’t lag or slow for me. I stayed curious and interested in the story of the two Josie’s in their parallel universe. I felt like the story was unique from anything else I have read lately and that is always a plus. In such an unrealistic type of story, there was a realistic element to how the two Josie navigated each other’s worlds. I honestly couldn’t put it down. It was obvious how they would have to switch back but the real story was in the time they spent in each other’s world and how it affected them. I really enjoyed this book!
The concept of this fascinates me greatly and I was really into it initially due to the idea of Josie being in this new life and having to learn how to navigate it.. I was reading it just imagining what people would do in that situation and it just blows my mind so for the first half I really enjoyed it. I just felt it started to slow a bit and became a bit repetitive. I really liked the characters, I felt like Josie was very relatable and likeable. It’s very thought provoking and interesting. I have to say I felt so sorry for Rob all the way through! He was absolutely my favourite character throughout!
An enjoyable read with a very interesting concept and lovely, relatable characters
The Love of My Other Life was unlike any book I've read before. I loved the concept of multidimensions and Josie's two different lives in them. I thought the complexities of both lives were dealt with in the best way and I'm so glad everything worked out in both dimensions in the end. My biggest fear was that Brooklyn Jose wouldn't also end up with Rob, but I'm so glad that wasn't the case and she and other Josie both got the ending they wanted.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
It took me a few pages to really get into this book, but once I did, I enjoyed it!
Main character Josie experiences her alternate life in a parallel universe after a biking accident.
In one timeline she is a single woman, a host of a radio show, and a choir member.
In the other she is married to a wealthy husband and lives in a penthouse.
The reader gets to see these two versions of Josie struggle to adapt to their different timelines.
The dialogue was rough to me especially with all the "baby" talk, while the actual narration felt more smooth. I also found Josie to be problematic, with her thoughts on weight gain, long distance relationships, and mental health.
I did enjoy this book, but it is a bit predictable.
Thank you to NetGalley as well as Joffe Books for the E-ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
We meet Josie as she’s about to celebrate her 36th birthday. She lives in Brooklyn, has a successful real estate radio show, great friends, and a crush on a guy that it seems like will be hers soon, as well as a brother who she's extremely close to.
On her way to her birthday dinner, she’s in a bike accident and wakes up in the hospital to a husband, body, and LIFE she doesn’t know! She has a different job, a different address, and a whole different life! It all seems perfect until she finds out that there are people missing from this life. She’s honest with everyone about not remembering any of this, but it isn’t “amnesia,” she has memories, but of a different life. She really can’t have it all, it seems.
The book is told from alternating points of view "Me" and "Her". It wasn't hard to follow, sometimes I feel like books like this CAN be. so that was a positive to me
I felt like the book was about 100 pages too long - I was skimming a lot at the end. I did like the journaling aspect that "both" Josies participated in and I also liked the dream aspect and wish that was fleshed out a little more
one of the biggest issues I had was when Josie came back to "her" life with Rob and was so angry at him for falling in love with the Josie in his own timeline. She failed to mention her own dalliances in the other timeline and was just really unreasonable (I felt).
Anyway - the multiverse aspect (in anything - movies etc) confuses me a little but this really didn't. I just felt like it was a little too long and had some issues.
When I think of romance, I think of books just like this one, that gives all the feels and satisfies every romance junkies' heart. This is a perfect book to snuggle up with on any day.
