Miranda has heard the stories of the time stitch from her sister and her friend. As a writer of adventure novels, she's determined to experience the 21st century for herself. But something goes wrong and she winds up 50 years in the past just in time to save a man she's only seen as a ghost. Nicolas Dupuis is a privateer accused of piracy. The local town has given him shelter and in return he smuggled in the goods they need like a "pirate robin hood". Miranda decides to help him in his cause, but with her second sight she discovers a mystery they need to solve. The cabin boy of Nico's former ship has been murdered and comes to them as a ghost for help. This is far more adventure than Miranda counted on...
I liked this adventure the best so far in this series. There's mysteries to solve, swordfighting, ghosts, pirate ships, and the dashing and heroic pirate himself. I loved Nico in this story and the banter between him and Miranda was perfect. I was sad to reach the last page. I can't wait for the next book in this series!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I love this series. Thorne Manor is an estate in England with an oddity - there is a locked room where there is a time portal. Miranda Hastings is a young woman who lives in the manor during the Victorian era. She knows about the portal - just not how to find it. So whenever she is lucky enough to find the forbidden room unlocked, she searches for it. She has a great desire to see for herself the wonders of the 21st century where her other relatives visit frequently. Miranda also sees ghosts in that room and has seen those of an older woman and a young man. She sees the ghost of the man as he is falling back - dying, she believes.

One day she trips and accidentally falls through the portal herself. However, instead of finding herself in the future, she finds herself in the past - Georgian England, to be exact. The nearby village is in trouble. Their old lord had died and his son, the new lord, is requiring more and more taxes and goods from the villagers and driving them to ruin. Miranda immediately runs into a man that she has seen as a ghost, the one who was falling back. His name is Nicholas Dupuis (Nico), a man of color whose native language is French, who has been accused of piracy. He is actually a privateer as in he does take ships, but what he does is state sanctioned. The current lord wants him dead rather than going to trial, as the trial would reveal some of his own activities. Nico and Miranda team up to avoid the new lord's men who are searching for him.

Miranda is also still seeing ghosts - the ghosts of an older man and of a young boy. When she describes them, Nico is able to tell her they are - the old lord and the cabin boy from his ship. The cabin boy was supposed to have been sent to safety after his old ship was damaged. His story is horrifying. The old lord has something important to tell before he can pass on.

I really enjoyed this book although it was a little slow at times. I'd recommend reading the first two books before reading this one. I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher KLA Fricke Inc. via NetGalley and voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

I do very much loved this series. I am pleased to have discovered this author. Already purchased previous works by her.

This is such a great series by Kelley Armstrong...but then again I pretty much love everything she writes! I loved A Turn of the Tide as much as A Stitch in Time (Book 1) and A Twist of Fate (Book 2). Time travel books are my favorites and Kelley writes them in such a fun way. I loved the characters of Miranda and Nicolas. Miranda is an adventurous and strong young lady and he is the perfect match for her.

I definitely recommend reading the other two books first because you'll be seeing characters from them as well. There's a Christmas novella, Ghosts and Garlands, coming out on November 15th that takes place after A Turn of the Tide that is also about Miranda and Nicolas. I can't wait to read it and have already pre-ordered it!

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review. All opinions are my own.

This is the third installment in Armstrong's "A Stitch in Time" series and still can't seem to capture the magic of the first.

I loved "A Stitch in Time" and was disappointed by "A Twist of Fate." This book ranks somewhere in the middle. I did find myself turning pages into the night at about the 40% mark, but the beginning was slow to catch my interest and the ending felt very rushed. Maybe there was a bit TOO much plot/action to wrap up in a short number of pages? A novella and a fourth book in the series were teased at the end, but I think I've had my fill.

This is the story of Miranda (Rosalind Courtnay's author sister who is also a medium) who accidentally goes back in time through the infamous time stitch in Thorne Manor and finds the very pirate smuggler whose ghost she's watched reenact his death dozens of times, but now he's very much alive. Deciding she can save his life; Miranda befriends Nicholas Dupuis - a sexy pirate doctor (which had me rolling my eyes) and they have a sexy pirate adventure together.

There's a lot of action, but the action you WANT to read about between these two gets glossed over. After all the cute banter build-up and sexual tension, I felt real let down that this wasn't open-door.

It was just alright for me. The fourth book is going to be about a third sister I don't really care or know anything about so I'm going to move on from this series to something steamier now.

A Turn of the Tide: A Stitch in Time - Book 3 Time Travel Series by Kelley Armstrong is exciting from beginning to end and not easy to put down for any reason. The characters include time travelers, ghosts, pirates and purely evil men capable of anything.
Romance, time travel and action is blended throughout this entire series. I can’t wait for the next book by Kelley Armstrong. Where and when will they travel to next and what new adventures await them?
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. I appreciate the opportunity and thank the author and publisher for allowing me to read, enjoy and review this book. 5 Stars

Turn of the Tide is book 3 in Kelley Armstrong’s historical romance series. Victorian writer Miranda’s sister has a secret, Miranda is pretty sure her sister has been to the 21st century. After Miranda finds the time stich, she’s surprised when instead of a wonderous future, she finds herself in the 18th century where she is just in time to save the life of a pirate she has seen before as a ghost. Nicholas is wanted for treason, but he continues to play Robinhood for the local towns folk who are suffering under a controlling lord.
Miranda and Nicholas are in a race against time to clear his name and to discover who killed a cabin boy from Nicholas’s ship.
I really enjoy this series and look forward to more adventures through time

Miranda Hastings is sneaking around Thorne Manor hoping to get to a portal to the twenty-first century. If the others can travel, well, so can she! She is already way ahead of her time. She writes rather risque adventures and wants to do more than write about them. She is looking to have one of her own.

When she lands, however, it is not in the twenty-first century. It's Georgian England and the first person she sees is Nicolas Dupuis, a man who has been accused of piracy. Also, the man whose murder she sees over and over in her dreams. While she can see ghosts, this is not a ghost, this is a flesh and blood man. And she likes what she sees.

So much adventure here that I don't want to spoil it. Ghosts, pirates, lords and ladies all can be found here and it is such a good time travel, historical fiction, a bit naughty as well and we loved it!

Ms. Armstrong is very diverse and I love it!

A Turn of the Tide by Kelley Armstrong is the third full-length novel in the Stitch in Time series. Romance, adventure and pirates await you as Miranda Hastings steps through the time slip at Thorne Manor looking for adventure and lands in Georgian England.

I am absolutely loving this series (and several others) by this author. Miranda Hastings is a writer, explorer and good with a sword. She slips through the time slip intending to explore the future… only she goes thirty-years back in time from the Victorian era she lives in….back to where Nicolas Dupuis, a privateer accused of piracy, will die.

Miranda saves Nicolas Dupuis life, but mischief is a foot and soon the two are trying to solve a murder to set a ghost free, attempting to stop a corrupt lord who is overtaxing the good people of this seaport and keeping Dupuis from a date with the noose.

This was such an engaging tale from Miranda’s inquisitive nature to Nicolas and his whispered words in French. Ghosts, aid from the lord’s granddaughter and moments in caves to explore one another had me reading this in just two sittings.

I like the concept that Armstrong has developed that the time-slip sends the traveler where they are needed. Each book is an adventure with a delightful romance. As we travel, we learn about the places and times and get to enjoy a mystery or two.

The ending has me excited about the next book in this series. We get hints at the possible adventure, and I hope they come to fruition.

On a side note. These stories can be read as standalone. Armstrong does a great job of making each hold its own. I recommend reading the novella Snowstorms & Sleigh Bells if you’d like to learn how Miranda knew about Nicolas Dupuis.

This novel was a little different than the previous two in that Miranda knew exactly what she was in for when she stepped through that stitch in time in the attic of Thorne Manor. She didn’t expect to travel to the past, but her instant connection to Nico made sticking around pretty easy. MIranda’s independent nature was stifled in her own time and her chemistry with Nico and he “friendly” nature, allows her to experiment with a sexuality that men of her time trod upon. I actually really liked the more sexy nature of this book as it added another layer to a mystery that was pretty easy to solve. I also liked that NIco and MIranda were a mixed race pairing. No one really seemed to pay attention to that fact at all, which may not have been historically accurate but it was refreshing.

This novel was definitely easy to read and the mystery wasn’t much of a mystery at all. Despite my wanting a little more depth I did enjoy this novel and always like to support a favorite author. If you find yourself wanting to read a paranormal romance, I don’t think you need to read the previous two novels. This book stands alone on it’s own, but I bet you’ll be interested enough to go back and read the first two. My favorite was the first novel A Stitch in Time.

Kelley Armstrong is my favourite author. None of her books disappoint including this one!

Just like the rest of the books in this series, the MC has changed from the previous two novels and we are fortunate to get Miranda Hastings point of view with this one. An adventurous, strong, intelligent “victorian writer of risqué pirate adventures”. Which is entirely too appropriate because she travels back in time to Georgian England to find that she needs to help Nico aka the “pirate Robin Hood”.

Also similar to the other two books, you do not need to have read the pervious novels in the series in order to understand and appreciate this one. Armstrong is kind enough to outline/explain everything you need to know if you are a new reader and tells us familiar readers where to skip to.

Unlike the other ones though, where the story is evenly balanced between plot and character development, this instalment is mostly character driven. However; I do think we are going to get more plot driven stories with Miranda and Nico in the future, at least I really hope so!

If you enjoy time traveling, historical fiction, fantasy, romance books that feature pirates, you will love this book! Actually if you like any of those genres on there own you will also love this series.

I would like to thank @netgalley and @kelleyarmstrongauthor for sending me an advanced e-copy of this novel! I throughly enjoyed traveling through the stitch again with Miranda and Nico!

The third book in the Stitch In Time series is A Turn of the Tide where we do not go forward in time to the 21st century but back in time to 50 years before the settings of the other books. In this time, Miranda will find a man, she has seen him before as a ghost in her time and knows how his death is to come. But how to convince him so she can save him.

Nicolas is a privateer and just lost his captain and crew when they were hanged for piracy. He escaped that death but is still a wanted man for smuggling goods to the people of hoods bay. A Robin Hood of sorts you could say. The nobleman of the area, Nottingham is looking for him and keeps showing up when least expected. Nicolas, with help of Miranda, hopefully will be able to find out which one of his trusted allies is selling him out to the enemy.

In their exploration of the ship holding the stolen cargo, Nico and Miranda run across the spirit of a boy who should be safe in York but was instead starved to death in a room on the ship. Nico and Miranda swear to find the boy’s killer and help set him to rest. But who can they trust and who is actively working against Nico and his cause? He will need some proof if he is going to be pardoned and be able to live a safe life.

This series has been a lot of fun taking two people who have lived in different times and throwing them together. I really have enjoyed the interested things that brings up for the characters and how each story plays out. A Turn of the Tide, while good, was missing some of the angst of the other stories. I loved both Miranda and Nico but he honestly seemed too good to be true. Their flirting was fun and I liked how forward Miranda let herself be with him. There are some interesting theories floating around about that stitch in time and why Miranda isn’t locked into just her time and the future one Bronwyn came from. But I’m sure that will be fleshed out in one of the future books as there are two more for this series planned. A holiday novella and then there is one sister left to go through time and find her true love.

Overall a satisfying conclusion to Miranda and Nico’s tale. They seems perfect for each other and I did like the conclusion to who the person was that sold Nico out and why. I have had a great time with this series and look forward to the upcoming books in it.

This was a fun time traveling, sweet romance with lots of adventure! Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC.

Ahoy there me mateys! I love Kelley Armstrong.  This be me 19th book by the author.  This one had me at "pirate Robin Hood."  Arrrr!  This book is silly and totally floated me boat.  In this third installment in the series, Miranda goes back in time where she runs into Nicolas Dupuis, who is accused of piracy.  He also happens to be someone Miranda recognizes as a ghost from her own time.  Can she stop him from being murdered?  Can she stop falling in love?

This was the best of the series so far.  The banter between Miranda and Nico, while ridiculous, was lots of fun.  Part of this was none of the dancing around the fact that the two have the hots for each other.  Miranda is strong-willed and sassy.  Nico is strong and intelligent.  There was no angst just cooperation and a fight for survival.  I was rooting for them and smiling at the crazy escapades.  I even loved the ending.  This is fluff and was an excellent use of me time.  Arrrr!

It is a sweet journey of finding love in unexpected places while on a Robin Hood inspired adventure.

Miranda Hastings knows about the time travel portal in Thorne Manor, and she has every intention of visiting the 21st century. All her adventures so far have happened in her imagination and on the pages of the books she writes, and she longs for a real one. But the portal doesn’t take her to the future. She is dropped into the past where she runs into the privateer, Nicolas Dupuis. She recognizes him as the ghost she has seen in her own time and makes it her mission to save him from the betrayal that would take his life. They work together to rescue Nico from the hangman’s noose and send some ghosts on to their proper afterlife.

I quite enjoyed the sexual banter between Miranda and Nico, but otherwise their relationship was just too even-keeled, and maybe too good to be true. They didn’t have any personal conflicts to resolve, other than the fact that they came from two different time periods. And even that never seemed like a huge issue. While this was a grand adventure, it did not have the same urgency and excitement as the first two books in the series.

The events that lead to the final confrontation were a bit convoluted, but a complete surprise. And I really liked the ending. It was so unexpected and full of hope and joy.

This is the third book in the A Stitch in Time series. It’s not necessary to read them in order, but it might make more sense if you do. I can recommend this if you like a cozy romance with elements of ghosts thrown in and want a bit more adventure to your reading.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I have been a reader of Kelley Armstrong's writing for many years. I admire her attention to detail and grasp of what it feels like to be a little different than most people.
In a' Turn of the Tide', Miranda Hastings, a 25 year old writer from the 19th century thinks that if she steps into the "stich in time" (portal) in a room in the Thorne mansion that she will find herself in the 21st century like her older sister Rosalind had. Instead she finds herself back in time in the 18th century and when she hears someone downstairs in the kitchen she thinks that she will find someone she knows. Who she finds is Nicolas (Nico) Dupuis a young man that she recognizes as a man whose death she has seen many times before. Gifted with "the second sight", Miranda tries to convince him not to meet his trusted ally because she has seen that he was ambushed and killed on the road. He approaches the meeting point from a different way and avoids his death, but Miranda is shot.
Nico is a privateer and a doctor, but finds himself hunted as a pirate. Hiding from authorities and assisting the locals because their corrupt Lord is slowly starving them, he finds shelter among the area villagers..
Dressing as a boy to go about undetected, Miranda finds a freedom that she has never known. Constricted by Victorian norms, Miranda cannot even write her novels under a woman's name. Hiding in caves and townsfolk's homes, Miranda is on a true pirate adventure.
This novel has a sweetness to it. Miranda is no typical Victorian woman and Nico is a product of his upbringing in the West Indies and his life as a sailor. They find in each other a match in spirits. He doesn't doubt her "second sight" and her abilities to converse with ghosts, and she trusts him to keep her safe.
The secondary characters are well sketched out and believable. I can't say that I didn't expect the ending, but per usual, Armstrong has a bit of a "twist".
I am thoroughly enjoying this "Time Travel" series. I love a series with strong women who are unusual for their time and men who are willing to meet them half way.

This book was quite the adventure! The romance took center stage, naturally, but there was still plenty of swashbuckling! And swordplay, which makes for a delightful double entendre. This series is so much fun, and I can only hope that Portia will get a story of her own.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.

Great series from Kelley, a very interesting take on time travel and as I missed the first few books in the series I am now about to catch up on them.📖📖

It pains me to be writing this, but A Turn of the Tide was Armstrong's weakest book to date. The story was pretty good, with some small twists that kept me turning pages, but the narrative itself was overwhelmingly prescriptive. Can't have sex without condoms (we know), a woman can seek pleasure without the confines of marriage (we know), cant drink too much rum and then touch each other's bodies (we know!). This kind of thing is good to include, but it was clumsily done. It read like a grade-school primer on how to be politcally correct.
The female character was overwhelmingly woke, and seemingly without flaw, and so was the male. There was no room for growth, because aside from a tiny bit of pride and an irritating penchant for reciting French poetry, these two were smarmingly perfect.
The "answer" to the conundrum of their time travel romance was obvious from the start, and upon finishing the story, I felt no sense of loss apart from MY time.
I rate this book 2 Stars. I finished it, but I wouldnt recommend it to anyone.

This is the third in the “Stitch in Time” series, a time travel/romance/historical fiction series. It began with Bronwyn Dale inheriting a home called Thorne Manor in the English moors in Yorkshire. Inside one of the rooms, she discovered a “stitch in time.” That is, she accidentally fell through time, two hundred years in the past, and met her current husband William Thorne.

In the second book, “A Twist of Fate,” Rosalind, the wife of William’s best friend, August Courtenay, fell into the time slip and moved forward from the nineteenth century to the twenty-first. It took her four years to find her way back to her husband and their son Edmund.

In this book, Miranda Hastings (at 25, Rosalind’s youngest sister), had overheard there was a time portal behind a locked door in Thorne Manor, and was determined to investigate. She is secretly a novelist, and was convinced there is an adventure worth writing about in this time stitch.

We also find out that Miranda has the Second Sight, and can see and communicate with ghosts. In fact she has rather been obsessed with the ghost of a legendary local pirate-turned-Robin-Hood, a man who steals from the corrupt local lord and redistributes goods to the villagers. When William and Bronwyn were away, Miranda sneaked into the room with the time stitch. She ended up in the past, fifty years earlier, in 1790. There, in the kitchen, she encountered none other than the “Robin Hood.”

She was immediately attracted to this handsome 26-year-old man, whose name is Nicolas Dupuis, called Nico, and she told him he was about to die. Of course he didn’t believe her, so she insisted on following him to the rendezvous which she has seen over and over in her visions.

Soon they are traveling together, and their conversation quickly moved from politics to sexual innuendo and banter. Of course their lives are in danger as well, so these forays into romance were counterbalanced by constant danger and hair-breadth escapes. While they were each wildly attracted to one another, Miranda worried about telling Nico the truth about who she was and “where” she was from.

Evaluation: I love this author. She is so good, especially with romances, even if she does have her male leads speak in a “husky voice” when aroused or beset by emotion. For my tastes, however, this book had a little too much hot sex and too little on the discrepancies and dissonances caused by the protagonist surviving in a different time zone, so to speak. For fans of the former rather than the latter, however, this book will be most pleasing.
