A great insight into what I can expect as I get older! Well written and informative.
Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.
This is the book I would have wanted to read some years ago as it would have helped me to understand what was happening and know that my experience was shared with other women.
It's full of humour, well researched, and matter of fact. There's all you need to know and understand about the changes of your body.
There's not a lot of good books about menopause and this is highly recommended even if you think it's still early.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
Such an interesting and helpful read, I’m not going through the menopause yet, but I have been thinking I am peri-menopausal for awhile now , so this book was such a great help to me. I loved the tone of this book, nothing was unclear, everything explained and it was like having a chat with someone you trust, I definitely recommend this to anyone going through the change or just about to like me, worthwhile reading
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion
A great no nonsence guide to all three phases of this important and and up until recently mainly ignored stage of every womans life. Having read other Menopause guides / books, I think this is one of the most concise, friendly and informative guides and every woman should get a copy on their 40th birthday!!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to read Making Friends with Menopause.
I appreciated this book so much! It can be hard for those of us going through the transition to figure out what’s what. Add in that our doctors tend to dismiss individual symptoms instead of thinking about how they add up together and books like these are even more important. I liked the experience of the authors— a woman who has gone through the transition herself and a family practitioner. I especially loved all the personal anecdotes interspersed throughout the book. It helped reading about the experiences of so many other women. I also loved the format of the book— each chapter started with a letter/theme that spelled out the word “Menopause”. Very cute!!
*Thanks to the authors, publisher, and NetGalley for the ebook copy in exchange for an honest review.
Menopause is a topic that is not talked about enough. I didn't really want to even think about it until I actually went through peri-menopause and surgery-induced menopause. I think it's a topic not discussed, in part, because it puts us one step closer to mortality.
While there are a lot of downsides to menopause, there are actually almost as many upsides. MAKING FRIENDS WITH MENOPAUSE discusses why certain things happen and how to cope. It lists alternative therapy, as well as more common tools such as hormone replacement therapy.
A doctor co-wrote the book with author, Sarah Rayner. The book gives a nice overview of various aspects of menopause. The medical terminology is easy to comprehend.
I thought the chapter regarding weight gain was helpful. I think that's a major issue for most menopausal women. I will definitely use some of the tips given. I also thought the section about anxiety was useful..
I think this book could be an excellent tool for women in peri-menopause looking for information on what to expect with menopause.
Thank you to NetGalley and Thread books for an e-copy to review.
I rate MAKING FRIENDS WITH MENOPAUSE four out of five stars.
Making Friends With Menopause is an informative guidebook for the menopause. It is very textbook like but does cover a lot of information. It is pretty standard stuff but good for anyone who is just learning about this subject. There are so many books out there now on the menopause that you can choose something that suits your knowledge and interest level. and this might not be the best choice for everyone. Overall though a good solid and informative read.
I enjoy how organized this book is. And easy read about menopause. Great information about the physical and emotional effects. Will keep going back to this book often.
I like how detailed this book is. It covers so many symptoms of menopause and offers so many practical advice. It discusses so many different parts of menopause too from the physical to the emotional to the psychological.... It's also organized very well into different chapters and easy to find. A terrific book....
Thanks to the publisher for the arc.
