Mac and Tim demolish a wall in their house in preparation for a new bathroom but find a skeleton behind a false wall. With their wedding only five days away will Mac have time to solve the mystery? I really enjoyed the change of pace in having the murder be a cold case rather than a current one. Mac seemed a bit more scattered than normal but I could blame that on pre-wedding jitters.

Mac and Tim are finally ready for their big day. But before they walk down the aisle and head off on their honeymoon, they want to add a bathroom to their downstairs bedroom. When they break through the wall, they find the bones of someone dressed in a wedding dress and bolted to the wall. While Mac has enough on her plate as her own wedding looms, she can’t help but try to figure out who killed the bride all those years ago.

As Mac and her book group dig in, it seems the story of the bride, and her groom, comes down to the founding families of the town and may be too cold to hold anyone accountable. Though how can Mac enjoy her own wedding when the young bride never got to enjoy hers. Will they solve the cold case, or will something happen to Mac leading everyone to think she got cold feet?

I love this author and her writing. I follow all of her series and can never get enough of her writing. If you want a great cozy with interesting whodunits full of red herrings, you need to read a Maddie Day book! Why not start with this one, as they all read fine as stand alones.

Mac is preparing for her wedding day and also working with fiance Tim to remodel their cottage. When they break through a wall, they find a body dressed in a bridal gown chained to the wall. Mac can't resist getting involved even though her investigating gets in the way of the wedding planning. Who murdered this woman and why? Is an important Cape family involved in the murder? Was there a coverup? Will Mac and Tim make it down the aisle ? All the questions are answered in this cozy by Maddie Day. As always, I enjoy Day's writing and her contemporary characters. A good read! Thanks to Net Galley for the preview.

Let me start off by saying I really enjoy Maddie Day's books. I have read all the books in this series so far and enjoyed them all. This book was a let down though. There seemed to be a lot of unnecessary filler of day to day things. Mac also seems to have changed drastically, from adventurous and fun, to someone who overreacts to just about everything and is depressed and depressing. There was not much mystery solving either just a few crumbs of information here and there. The ending was great but it was a very slow build up.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review this book!

I absolutely love murder mystery books, so when I seen this one; I had to request it.

Mac and her husband Tim are in the middle of remodeling their home when they bust down a wall and find a 80ish year old Skelton bride hidden in it. Mac being who she is, loving crime, just can’t get what has happened out of her head. She too is fixing to get married and she wants justice for “Bridey” since she never got her happy ending.

With all the twist and turns in this book, it still leaves you wanting more. I suspected Win had something to do with what was happening in the present time and I was right! I’m super glad that everyone in this book got the justice they deserved and that Al made it out alive.

Mac and Tim are about to get married, but as they are making last-minute renovations to their home, they make a gruesome discovery - a skeleton in the wall. The skeleton of a young woman dressed in a wedding gown and chained to the wall is terrifying, but so close to her own wedding, Mac is especially freaked out. Trying to stay on track for her wedding ceremony, Mac tries to discover who the skeleton was and why she was imprisoned in the wall, It's a tale of family greed and honor.

Murder in a Cape Cottage is the 4th book in the series. Mackenzie (Mac) Almeida is the main character and is the owner of a bike shop. She is engaged to marry Tim Brunelle on New Years Eve. He owns the bakery. They are doing work on the old house that Tim owns. While taking down a wall for a future bathroom they come across a skeleton on a chair wearing a wedding dress. Her hands are tied behind her and chained to a wall. There is a suitcase next to the chair. with the initials DLR on it. They call the police. Nikki Kimuri and August Jenkins, police officers arrive along with Penelope Johnson detective sergeant with the Westham Police Department. Penelope has a young girl Winslow (Win) Swift to check out the skeleton and later the suitcase. Win is a descendent of one of the town's old and important families. . When examining the suitcase they discover the skeleton is Della Louise Ruhlaln. There is a picture of a man Manny Cabral in the suitcase. . He is a fisherman They were going to run away and get married but disappear.

Mac is interested is curious and in finding out more about why she was walled up in their house. The house was originally the guest house on the Swift's property. In checking old newspapers Mac comes across an article about a body washed up on shore as well as a name of a boat that was shattered by an explosion. The story picks up with the supporting characters being related to both Della and Manny as well as the old and wealthy Swift family.

The story picks up with the twists and turns of finding out who and why they were killed. I will leave the discovery and adventure of the exciting ending to the reader. The book ends with Mac and Tim's wedding.

I enjoyed this series and plan to read the first three books,

I received this ARC via Netgalley and Kensington Books, in return for an honest review. While the third book in this series, it is easily read as a standalone. It’s only week from their wedding when Mackenzie ‘Mac” and her fiancée, Tim, discover a skeleton in the wall of their cottage as they’re renovating for a new main suite bathroom. Since Mac’s mom and best friend have almost all the bridal plans completely under control, Mac desperately wants to solve this mystery before her wedding since the skeleton is clothed in a bridal gown and Mac feels great sympathy for the murdered woman. A very enjoyable cozy mystery and I look forward to the next in this series.

I am a bit mixed on this book. About half way through I realized that it was only going to be about solving this decades old mystery. Considering Mac is trying to get ready for her wedding at the end of the week, it is hard to believe that she would spend time on it. At times it gets bogged down and at times Mac overreacts to things. Only at the end it there really any action. This was not the best that I have read by Maddie Day.

I wasn't sure about this when I first started reading. There are a number of books I've read which have a skeleton unearthed during renovations. This book though had a great mystery with lots of interesting beck stories.

Thank you to NetGalley for the advance read.

Intrigue and romance
Ms. Day gives us a mystery...who was in the closet? During a reno Mac and Tim find a skeleton, adding to the frenzy of their approaching wedding. She can’t let it go and snoops as she prepares for the wedding...with the help of friends, family, and the local PD. They dig up info that gives them suspects and pass it on.
Ms. Day creates colorful scenes and multi-faceted characters for us to ponder. I really enjoyed the book and recommend highly.
I requested and received this book gratis from NetGalley and offer my opinion in the same.

Mac & Tim are about to be married & are renovating Tim's cottage before the big day. A skeleton is found behind a wall, and mystery ensues. Through lots of historical digging, as well as questioning people in town, the mystery is solved. A quick read, enjoyable as it continues the story line.
Personally, I would read these books in order, although it is not necessary. I have enjoyed reading them chronologically though.
Thanks once again to Kensington Publishers, NetGalley & Maddie Day for the chance to read an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. I look forward to the next in the series!

Mac and Tim are getting ready to say I do, but we all know there's going to be a dead body involved.
While renovations are underway, Mac and Tim discover a body, hidden behind a wall, left there, chained, wearing what appears to be a wedding dress.
I have grown to love this series, the characters feel real, which means a lot to me. There's always that special character in any book I read, that just tugs at my emotions until I'm wrapped in their world. I'm waiting to discover my special character in this series.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of this book.

“Mac” Almeida had a high-powered employment history but now owns a bicycle rent/repair shop, lived in a Tiny House, has a father who is a minister, a mother who is an astrologer, has a verbose African Grey parrot, a baker for an imminent bridegroom, and is essential to the Cozy Capers Book Group. While doing renovations in their new home a few days before the wedding, she comes upon a skeleton hidden in a wall wearing bride's dress with a small valise and wearing handcuffs! The police do try, but this skeleton was from 80 years ago and there are other things going on. The person is identified as a member of town royalty with issues. I'm making it a point to do this review at the 65% mark so I don't get tempted to give away any spoilers! Another entrancing read!
