Interesting read! This was my first book so I felt a bit behind in reading this. It’s better to read the previous novels first. Interesting premise for a book but it was a little too graphic for me
Thank you to Netgally, the publishers, and Roberta Kagan
When I requested this book I was unaware that it was a part of a series, one that requires you to read the previous books for this one to make sense. I am unable to read all the previous books along with this one before the publish date. Therefore, I will rate this a fair 3/5 stars and will adjust the rating and review when I am able to read all the books in the series along with this one.
I am sorry for any issues caused by this and I will be more careful in the future.
This is a wild ride. There is an all that and the kitchen sink element but it makes things interesting.
I already knew about the conspiracy theories and whole New World Order thing so I could follow this.I did find off hand comments amusing. This is a plot driven book which it does well.
There is one side with trans humanism/hybrids/inhumans and the other on the Conspiracy side. Add in an apocalypse and you have a thriller film of a novel.
I recommend this for traditional sci-fi lovers, apocalypse fanatics and those who like to debate conspiracy theories.
I have not read the previous book in this series. I would not recommend reading Revelation as a stand alone. I was at least 35% into the book before I felt like I understood what was happening. The author does not revisit much of the information from the first book, which I do not mind if I have read them sequentially. The multiple points of views also made it challenging for a reader new to the story line (again, I think it would not have been an issue if I had read the first story).
The technical military vocabulary was unnecessary and excessive for me. Instead of drawing me into the story, I found it more often was a speed bump. The story is gritty, it focuses on war, the occult, suggested sexual exploits, and physical harm. Main characters are not spared from the unpleasantness. It reminds me of Game of Thrones, but would be appropriate for teens.
