This was a gorgeous and heart-warming read that I devoured. I loved being whisked away to Scotland with great and cosy characters.
Bootcamp for Broken Hearts by Joanna Bolouri is a delightful and hilarious romantic comedy. The book tells the story of Nora Brown, a woman who is determined to stay happily single. She is not convinced that love exists, and she is not interested in finding it. However, when she is invited to attend a "bootcamp for singles" at a Scottish castle, she reluctantly agrees to go.
The bootcamp is designed to help singles overcome their fears and insecurities and find love. Nora is not convinced that the bootcamp will work, but she is willing to give it a try. She meets a handsome stranger named Will, and they quickly start to fall for each other. However, Nora is still not sure if she is ready to open her heart to love.
Nora is a strong and independent woman who is not afraid to go after what she wants. Will is a kind and compassionate man who is always willing to help others. Their chemistry is undeniable, and they bring out the best in each other.
The story is well-paced and engaging. I loved watching Nora and Will's relationship develop, and I was rooting for them the whole time.
Overall, I highly recommend Bootcamp for Broken Hearts to anyone looking for a fun and romantic story.
Absolutely loved reading this, heart warming, funny, compassionate and touching. Very well written, loved the details and storyline. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers and the author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest opinion

Oh wow, I really enjoyed this book.
Funny and fresh romantic comedy! Fantastic characters and a great setting. Laugh out loud worthy on several occasions with a scattering of romance and dollop of sauce! Snuggle down and pick this up. You won’t be disappointed.
Thank you Netgalley

This book was not long and only took me 2 days to read cover to cover on my kindle.
I have to say that this book deserves more attention from book lovers because this was a very fun story. I literally laughed out loud throughout the book. Main character Nora was very likeable, relatable and with a splash of inappropriate sense of humor and sarcasm.
Just because she doesn't believe in real love and had only seen bad experiences thorugout her life, so in her 40s she doesn't believe that real love exists for her. Nora thinks she doesn't need "the one and only". Sister, best friend and daughter come together and plan an "exclusive six-day romance bootcamp retreat" to change her view on life and love so she can find someone to love again.
How I would have liked a little more "spicy scenes", at some point I even sat on the edge of my chair and waited for the author to give me more Nora and Will.
Big thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture from providing this ARC copy!
An amusing romp - fun, real and a bit of escapism. I spent an enjoyable couple of hours following Nora and Will's developing relationship as they both go through the motions as reluctant participants in a week's bootcamp for singles in a romantic Scottish castle and estate. Lots of laughs and some reality too as Nora comes to realisations of her own. Loved this. #netgalley #BootcampForBrokenHearts
Nora runs a cafe, has a teen daughter and is resolutely single. Then a friend gifts her a stay at a retreat for her 40th birthday. Sounds lovely except it’s for people needing a romance reboot and Nora has no interest in finding a man.
Amid the meditation and yoga and the cosmic ordering and speed dating sessions, Nora meets another sceptic, Will, who confesses he’s only there to write a magazine story. But as both feel the spark, maybe Nora is about to look at love – and her life – differently.
With a relatable heroine, an interesting ensemble cast and some instructive life coaching lessons, this was a fun read that I raced through.
Very good read highly recommended. I totally recommend this book to friends and family it does not disappoint. Hope to read more books by this author in the near future.
For people who read a lot more books on average during any given year, thanks to time and access (I am incredibly thankful for both), certain books fall in a very personal category.
These books are fun to read, can be read quickly, and are well written but not something that you sing praises about. It does not mean that the book was bad in any form or fashion. The three-star rating that you give does not have to mean anything negative. It is a comfortable spot that, as a reader, I am thankful exists. It also means that many others will enjoy it more than I did!
The characters in this category of books are well-rounded and fun to meet and watch as they grow during the course of the unfolding of the story. This (if you have not guessed already) is one of those books. It would have been higher rated if the romance did not feel a little rushed. There is a twist hidden, which I saw coming just before I flipped the page, which felt like a treat.
Our lead character is a single mother reaching a point in her life where she thinks she is comfortable without having a significant other, but her sister and best friend/co-owner of a cafe do not agree. They have decided that she needs to open herself to love (which felt slightly annoying since they were not 'listening' to her, but since she does find her man at the end, it put me in a very confusing position as to whom I was championing). They gift her an all-paid visit to a boot camp that is supposed to kick start one's willingness to think well of oneself and be open to positive relationships and remove negative influences from your life. Despite all the joking and inner taunts of the processes, it actually helps people, and they start to rethink things. It is there that Nora Brown finds her joy for the week. The banter was fun and instantaneous, making the 'courtship' part of the relationship fun to observe.
As mentioned earlier, if the book spanned a little more time and slowed some things down, I would have loved visiting with all the characters in the narration. They were entertaining, and I still recommend this book to people who love the genre!
I received an ARC thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, but the review is based on my own reading experience.
Nora has had enough of men. She is happy bringing up her daughter and running her own business, she doesn’t need anyone else to upset her daily life. However, her sister is determined that Nora needs to find love. So she gifts her a ‘Romance Reboot’ get away in a beautiful Scottish castle.
While there she meets Will, another love sceptic, and their easy camaraderie and banter has everyone talking.
Will Nora drop her defences or is Will going to prove that her theory about men is accurate?
From the first chapter I was hooked on this book. It was laugh out loud, tears rolling down your face, brilliant!
Oh wow I genuinely loved this book it was sweet and a fab read.
I really couldn’t put it down. I loved the boot camp and it felt fun and the writing got me hooked on the characters.
One of the best books I have read for a while.
Nora is strong and dependable but she’s bored and doesn’t know it.
Her sister wangles a boot camp for the broken hearted and gifts it her for her 40th.
Will is an undercover journalist and they click and enjoy being cynical about the new agendas of the camp.
It’s not at all predictable and really fun.
Thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange of an honest review.
Nora's sister, best friend and daughter send her to an exclusive retreat to try to kickstart her love life. She makes an instant friend but will romance be on the horizon...?
Bootcamp For Broken Hearts is a warm and fun novel. There is plenty of humour and wry observations but also words of wisdom that resonated with me.
The book is written from Nora's first person perspective. Her character really came to life and I had my fingers crossed she would get a happy ending. She is happily single but stuck in a rut. Her friends and family want her to have some excitement, find happiness and someone special. They arrange for her to attend a retreat which aims to change her mindset and promote personal growth.
Nora and Will develop such a great spark that I was desperate for them to get together. The plot has some big twists in store for the pair and the anticipation was maintained until the very end. Both are skeptical about the retreat's vision but find themselves reassessing their feelings and opinions. I found the power of positivity encouraged at the retreat really striking and thought provoking.
Bootcamp For Broken Hearts is an enjoyable romantic comedy with a lead character that is easy to relate to.
I haven’t read anything by this author before, but having enjoyed reading Bootcamp for broken hearts I will definitely look out for other books written by her.
Written in a humorous way, I giggled my way through it (I read in bed and despite laughing silently I woke my husband up several times because of funny bits in the book!)
I enjoyed reading the book, it has a storyline that kept my attention throughout and is filled with interesting characters. A feel-good, fun read.
I love Joanna Bolouri, I have read all her previous books and really enjoyed every one of them. So, as you can expect, I was really excited to see a new book by her. Bootcamp for Broken Hearts was a bit of a surprise though, I think it had more of a serious undertone than her previous books and the setting was also a bit unexpected.
After all, this book is set in a retreat where very wealthy people go to learn how to find love. At the beginning, I thought this would be the perfect setting for hilarious and absurd situations but somehow, the main character Nora, and an unwilling participant to this charade, started to really connect with the meditations/self love sessions. At first I was a bit surprised with this turn of events but I could see how Nora was benefiting of this setting and how she was developing and growing and it reminded me how important it is to try new things and get out of our comfort zone.
So all in all, I ended up enjoying this book a lot. I might not have gotten the hilarious scenes that I was expecting but I got a lot of heart and real connections. Don't get me wrong though, the story was still a lot of fun and still had this little bit of craziness and serendipity we are used to from previous books!
4,5 starts from me!
First I would like to thank Netgalley, the author and publisher for my free ARC.
Who hasn’t had their heart broken. Who’s had it broken bad enough or too many times that they feel romance just isn’t for them anymore. Doesn’t every single article ever written about broken hearts say that true love will find you when you’re not looking. Meet Nora, single mum, who goes off to this retreat with a closed mind on romance but open to taking a break. It doesn’t even matter that this is a time immemorial story because who doesn’t love a story where it all comes good.
The author gives us the right formula for compassion, cringe, fun and love in this story about Nora and Will.
I highly recommend this book for a sunny weekend with a tall gin and tonic and some cheeky snacks.
4.5 stars
I’ve been a fan of Joanna’s since I first read The List years ago. Everything I’ve read so far I’ve enjoyed and this was no exception in that regard! The only exception with this was was that I half listened on audio and half read the kindle version - largely due to being on holiday and not being in the car as often to listen along!
The story focuses on cafe owner Nora and her love life, or rather lack of it. Her sister meddles and finagles her a place at a week long boot camp where she will learn mindfulness and affirmation.
She’s very sceptical and honestly so was I when I read where the story was going however in the end it even gave me some food for thought!
Romance develops with one of her fellow boot campers and as to be expected from Joanna’s writing there’s just the right amount of tension and spice to along with her sharp wit and down to earth characters.
If you have enjoyed and of Lindsey Kelk’s books then I’d recommend you give Joanna a try.
Laugh Out Loud, is a life-affirming comedic novel.
Self-love is the main element running through the story-line
The well-written characters are easy to relate to and root for,
The humorous element in this book is so well written throughout. I am sure most readers have been where Nora is at some time in their life. I really love the fact that the book conveys the message that you have to love yourself before you can be loved the way you deserve. I think the downside of this book is that it seems to end abruptly, we definitely need a sequel for more Nora adventures.
I definitely won't hesitate to read this author again

Thank you for the advanced e-copy! The beginning of this book was a little slow for me, and it took me a while to become invested in the characters. However, I ended up loving the set up and premise and was laughing and swooning as the story went on. I loved Nora and Will and their chemistry! Where can I sign up to go to Romance Reboot?!
