GRIPPING police thriller with the kidnapping of a 12 year old little girl. Great story line with an abundance of suspense leading up to a shocking enlightment of human greed & betrayal of the worst kind. RECOMMEND totally for a n intense reading experience. Thanks to #NetGalley & Bookouture for this ARC in return for my honest review.
Missing Angel – Roger Stelljes
It’s a seemingly normal afternoon as 6th grader Isabella Farner packs up her school gear in preparation from the bike ride home across the park. As she begins pedaling away, friend and neighbor Quinn Braddock, a 7th grader, catches up to her and asks her to a party at his house after their respective soccer games next weekend. Izzy barely has the chance to say yes when a jogger comes sprinting their way, ski mask on his face, knocking both kids down before he scoops up Izzy and runs to a van tossing her inside and fleeing the scene. Quinn, wind knocked out of him, does the only thing he knows to do. He frantically calls his Dad, Manchester Bay Detective Will Braddock.
Retired FBI Special Agent Tori Hunter is setting up her home office when she gets the call from Will regarding the abduction of Isabella. As the FBI’s Child Abduction expert before her retirement, she is now a special consultant to Shepard County law enforcement agencies, and Will’s significant other. Immediately heading to the scene, she finds a tearful Quinn, and learns all she can from him and his friends, before heading to Isabella’s home to interview her parents. The question – was this a random abduction, or was Isabella targeted?
As Will & Tori speak with Isabella’s family, there seem to be no red flags, nothing to indicate a kidnapping for ransom. Isabella’s mother is a well-respected pediatrician in the community, and her father is a trustworthy financial advisor. Neither can think of anyone who would want to do them harm. But everything the eyewitnesses are able to tell them seem to indicate that Isabella was targeted – but by who?
As Will & Tori dig deeper, they learn of parallels with two other cases in the general vicinity – instances where children were abducted, never to be found. A suspect was identified in those cases, but there was never any proof. As Tori looks to him once more as a possible perpetrator, he again has an ironclad alibi. Meanwhile, Izzy’s family receives a ransom demand with proof of life - and a warning not to involve the police, or else…
Another fantastic read from Mr. Stelljes! I just love this series, and the Mac McRyan series is every bit as good!! While each book is great as a standalone, the character and relationship developments as the stories build are important too – I was wondering how Tori was going to manage retirement when she’s such a driven investigator – I needn’t have worried! I cant wait to see where this series goes next! Great read! Great series!! I promise!!

When 12 year old Isabella Farner disappears, Agent Tori Hunter is involved with the investigation. While I had not read earlier books in this series, I will be looking to read them. This story was engaging, kept my interest, and had twists and turns. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance review copy in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you to Bookouture for letting me take part in this tour and for my copy of this book via Netgalley. I am a big fan of this series so I was clearly excited when the 4th book was announced. While this is the 4th book you could read it as a standalone.
Tori and Braddock have quite the case on their hands this time. It was full of twist after twist. Just when you thought you knew what was going on, BAM Roger pulls the rug out from under your feet. Nothing about this case made sense. From the very beginning, there is this niggle that something is off.
The story was very fast-paced and packed full of action. Roger had me on the edge of my seat.
Highly recommend if you love a good police procedural that will have you biting your nails with tension then this is one for you.
I couldn’t get into this book because I realized it’s the 4th book in the series. I’m going to need to read the first 3 then I’ll come back to this one. I really liked the characters and where the story line was going.
Amazing!! A gripping edge of your seat thriller, my adrenaline was pumping so much I thought my heart would burst. Everyone should read this book it's fantastic. Thank you bookouture and netgalley for this ARC 5/5 stars
Well-written suspense that definitely kept me awake at night! My only concerns with the book were the amount of unnecessary four-letter words and the paradox of a couple who seemed very committed to each other, but never mentioned the possibility of marriage. The foul language was totally unnecessary and were distracting from the professionalism of the characters who used them. Great plot that was well developed and kept the reader on her toes.
When Will Braddock's son witnesses his friend Isabella taken from right in front of him and thrown into a van, Tori Hunter immediately jumps in to help. As this missing child case hits so close to home, Tori rushes to put the pieces together and find Isabella before it's too late.
I'm never disappointed with a Tori Hunter novel! I absolutely love the way Stelljes has slowly built a healthy life for Tori after her tragic childhood and how we see her channel her experience into expertise as she tracks down missing children. I also love the way these cases are built. I'm not sure if they're based on real cases or just extraordinarily well constructed but they're very realistic.
These books are definitely on the procedural side of mystery/thriller, so as long are you're good with that these books are amazing! Super exciting reads.
First time reading this author but I have heard lots of great things so wanted to jump on the bandwagon!
As this is book 4, it was a little tricky to get used to the characters having come to the story without having the background story.
The introduction grabbed me immediately and I love Tori as a character, aswell as Isabelle. Stelljes does a great job of writing strong personalities that really take the story forward!
The pacing did dip a little in the middle for me, but had a strong ending and I would definitely read more from this series and Stelljes.
Twelve-year-old Isabella is taken from the park on her way home from school and stuffed into a van. Agent Tori Hunter is called to the scene and begins the search for witnesses and traces of the girl. She also digs into the family's past and previous kidnapping cases to uncover the cause of the crime and hopefully find the girl before it's too late. In the meantime, her relationship with Officer Braddock is growing as they make a home together.
I like Tori's street smarts and her skills. The chapter titles include a catchy quote from the chapter, a technique I liked. And while this is the fourth book in the series, the author introduced enough backstory that I wasn't confused. There is some romance, but it doesn't overpower the story.
Isabella also shines. I won't share spoilers, but she's a tough girl who is going places in life!
I could have done without the repetitive "boom boom boom" and other sound words used to show that someone shot a gun, etc. And the ending was heartwarming but almost too good to be true. I lost interest about 85 percent in.
While I disagree with the book summary that this book is "an absolutely mind-blowing crime thriller that will keep you up until the early hours," it is engaging and an interesting mystery with strong female leads.
Another good read by this author with an interesting plot and tenacious law enforcement. The answers don’t come easy
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this arc
Although this is the fourth in the Tori Hunter series it is easily read as a standalone, however to me there were obvious gaps that you can only get from the previous books.
The book was exciting, gripping and fast paced throughout, I found myself keeping everything crossed hoping for a positive ending. For me the ending was a little far fetched, but this didn't distract from it being a highly entertaining read.
With credible, well rounded characters I found myself being drawn to Tori the most, she's a great example of a strong female lead.
I was in such a book slump - I can always count on the Tori Hunter series to deliver.
12 yo Isabella is biking home when a van shows up - a man shoves her in and races away.
Desperate for a lead, Tori can't help but feel the parents are withholding information.
Will and Tori work the case, Tori can't help feeling his son could be next.
Great suspense. Great read.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for this e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I love this series!! This is the 4th book in the Agent Tori Hunter series and once again, Roger Stelljes had me on the edge of my seat! I love Tori's character and really enjoy her interaction with her partner, Will Braddock. They make such a great team. This book is a definite page-turner! It can be read as a stand-alone, but since the series is so great, I suggest reading books 1-3 before starting this one.
Can't wait for book 5!!
Highly recommend!
A young girl, twelve-year-old Isabella Farner is abducted in broad daylight with witnesses around, yet no one knows who the perpetrator is. Agent Tori Hunter and her partner, Shepherd County Chief of Detectives, Will Braddock investigate. Will's own son, Quinn is one of the witnesses and that makes both Tori and Will go the extra mile to crack the case.
set in Manchester Bay, Minnesota, this is the fourth book in the Agent Tori Hunter series; you don't need to have read the other instalments, but it helps if you have as there are references to previous cases. Zippily paced and suspenseful, I didn't want to put this one down. The many twists keep you flipping those pages and I'm already on tenterhooks for the next in this series!
I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Bookouture via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.
Missing Angel by Roger Stelljes did not waste any time in getting right to the action and started with a kidnapping. This was such a good and exciting book. It had me hooked from page 1 until the end. This really had me guessing and thinking hard about what would happen and who kidnapped Isabella. I really could not put this book down until I knew how it would all play out. So many great twists and turns. I really enjoyed the characters and their relationships.
I would recommend this book, this series, and this author. The author crafted a great story with real-life scenes. I liked the location of the story. Really great book.
I absolutely love this series. This book was no different. I love the stories and I love how the story of Tor is coming along.
This is a quick read and a crime fiction/romance
I am loving this series, A fantastic story line full of twists, it had me gripped till the end. I am looking forward to reading more
Missing children are the specialty for retired FBI agent Tori Hunter. When a girl, the friend of her stepson Quinn, goes missing she can’t stop driving the investigation forward. In the end, the answer she’s seeking is not where she thinks. It will take her all the way, to South America to find the ending she is hoping for. Great story, had me on edge 'til the end.
A solid addition to the Tori Hunter series. It wasn’t my favorite in the series but it was worth the read. This one just didn’t pull me in like the others. I think in this one, I just really didn’t like the characters. I felt no connection to the outcome.
3.5/5
Thank you #netgalley and #bookoture for the eARC.
