An absolute perfect book for the smallest of readers. My daughter loved the quick story and the wonderful illustrations. it was such a whimsical book that teaches about going to the moon.
Fun short kids story about adventures. The story takes place on earth with a rabbit hoping to make it to the moon. I read this with my two year-old and he loved it!
Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy.
Oscar Goes to the Moon by Helen Tanner, is exactly the kind of story and illustration style that makes me love children's books.
Oscar the bunny is feeling lonely, and everyone he approaches is scary or flaky. He decides to be adventurous when he thinks he sees a fellow bunny on the moon, and does whatever it takes to find out. It's this magical message (and equally magical illustrations to support it) that I want every child in the world to see: if you want it and believe you can succeed, anything is possible.

I adored this book. Especially the illustrations! They're very simple but sweet and fun to look at! I also enjoyed the writing content because it was very short and simple. Something I think most children can easily follow. I think this would be a great age for early childhood ages. Maybe even as a board book for toddlers. I like how sequential the rabbit went about solving the problem of trying to go to the Moon. He tried different ways that but it didn't work. Finally he figured out how to build a spaceship or rocket step by step. It was great! One more thing I really love the name Oscar. That was a great name to pick.
Oscar the bunny seems to be having trouble finding a friend when he looks up into the sky one night, and sees another bunny on the moon. He can't seem to walk there because as much as he tries, it's just too far. The same goes for floating or even climbing. Finally he comes up with an new idea and even when it takes more work, his reward is an adventure that is out of this world!
I love children's stories about perseverance, and this book teaches that with the help of one of the cutest illustrated bunnies ever. Oscar Goes to the Moon, written and illustrated by Helen Tanner was such a delightful story, and the illustration's texture and style were just magical.
Thank you so much to Netgalley and Ninewise Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this title.
This book was sweet but also a bit sad. I think it’s the pictures that help create that sadness. It’s about a bunny who is afraid of things around them and just wants to go to the moon and see the bunny. I did appreciate the prologue that tells you about the bunny moon since I’ve never heard of that. And it makes the story seem like a book of longings. Overall, I enjoyed it however it’s not one I would frequently pick to read.
Super cute, sweet book! I've heard the rabbit on the moon folktale before and this is a good twist.
My favorite part, other than the adorable end, is actually how some of the dialogue is done. Some of the words/phrases are drawn differently to showcase what they mean. The word "nervous" is written in a shakey font, for example. That was a really nice touch.

@ninewise.publishing love the book!
Adorable and warm illustrations accompany this story of perseverance and exploration. I enjoyed the "play" with print, emphasizing to children that print has meaning.
Oscar the bunny goes to the moon. Such a sweet picture with vivid illustrations. All to capture the imagination and have fun.
A special thank you to Ninewise Publishing and Negalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
Oscar the bunny is longing for an adventure, but can't think of where to go until a full moon fills him with inspiration. As it turns out, getting there proves to be a bit more complicated than he imagined, but he is determined to reach his destination.
This is a sweet, soft, fanciful tale about wanderlust and perseverance. It's a simple story, told in simple language, but it would make a lovely bedtime or quiet time book for preschoolers. The illustrations are absolutely adorable as well! I would use this at home or in a pre-K classroom as a nice wind-down before naptime.
Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!
Oscar Goes to The moon is a short and sweet book with beautiful illustrations. This is the perfect book for children who are learning to read and need something fun and simple. Thank you for allowing me to read this here on netgalley
This was very cute and warm. I could imagine parents reading this to their kids at bedtime as the perfect story.
I am a sucker for any story involving the moon. I especially love that this story is inspired by an Indian tale.
My daughter (5 years old) absolutely loved this book! It was such an adorable book! We ended up reading it twice! She loves the colorful pictures and it held her attention the entire time. Short yet sweet! I feel like kids can be a hit or miss with books, but this was a definite hit with her! I would highly recommend this book!
Oscar the rabbit wants to visit an animal friend, but everyone is either too far, too flighty, or too scary. But then he notices the moon, and wonders if a rabbit really lives up there.
The artwork style is intriguing. For the pure look of it, kids will enjoy the cute, mouthless animals done in a very simple style. These are done with strong lines and subtle shading, giving the rabbit and other animals a bit of volume. The backgrounds look to be oil pastels applied with the paper over a textured background. The effect is just lovely, so much better than if the colors had been flat. It makes the whole thing cuddly!
Please note that this is not the East Asian interpretation of a rabbit in the moon. No pounding mochi or helping Chang'e. Cute on its own, but not suitable if you're looking for something to go along with the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival. But, if your kid just likes rabbit, this is a fine choice!

Oscar knew he wanted to travel, but everywhere he thought of wasn't right. That is until one night when he was out for a walk and looked up at the moon. There's he saw another bunny on the moon! Right then he knew that's where he wanted to go. Just how to get there? So he built a rocket ship! This book was so cute and shows that you can make a new friend wherever you go!
First off, what a great story! The illustrations are lovely. My son loved this book and we’ve read several times! I highly recommend this to kiddos who love space and adventures!
This is a sweet book about a little bunny who wants to go places. He thinks about visiting animals in different countries, but then he sees the shadow of a bunny in the moon and realizes that is where he wants to go. He tries many different ways to get to the moon that don’t work, but he finally builds a rocket and meets the bunny on the moon.
My 4-year-old twins enjoyed this book. It’s a cute story about adventure and not giving up. Thank you to Netgalley and Ninewise Publishing for this digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a very sweet story. The art style was beautiful. While there isn't a lesson to be learned, per say, I think this book can help young readers with prepositional phrases and the importance of reaching for your goal. (Also, the nod to the moon landing was a cute addition!)
Very cute story about a rabbit looking to connect with someone. Great illustrations that worked perfect for the story.
