A light, fun read with kidnapping, mafia, escapades, Indian matchmaking aunts, crazy weird family dynamics and of course second chance romance! Wow, it did have a lot of things going on and was like they were on an adventure of their own leaving their regular day jobs for a bit. There were some steamy moments between Mira and Naveen and they both have been carrying their own baggage that they open up about after this whole chaotic situation.

It was more of an entertaining, heist book with a sprinkle of romantic moments!

This was fun! I liked seeing how Rai approached this subgenre after her more straightforward contemporary romances. There was more emphasis on the trauma that comes from difficult family relationships than I expected for a romance and almost felt like it coasted pretty closely to the women's fiction genre, but there was focus on both of the protagonists, and a focus on their relationship too. I hoped for more resolution with Mira's family members, but also see why tying everything up with a neat bow might not have worked well. It was a really fun book and I can't wait to see what Rai does next.

I enjoyed this one. Liked how dealt with past alcoholism, rehab, and you don't have to hide your past from everybody. Wished there was spicier scenes (because Rai writes those so well) but overall, good romance.

A quirky, enjoyable read. This was a fun new take on the romance genre! I love the adventure/heist elements and the two main characters were both wonderful. I usually don't like second chance romance, but this one was done so well I have no notes and loved it regardless. The main characters are both fully developed and I appreciated how their backstories are slowly rolled out rather than info-dumped. And they were supported by a hilarious cast of supporting characters that were fully formed and loveable in their own ways that I wish I could read more about all of them.
I laughed, cringed, and loved this whole book - a fun romantic adventure!

Partners in Crime was such a fun and suspenseful romance to read! I flew through this book in one sitting with a smile on my fave! Mira's been unlucky in love, so when she finds herself stuck with Naveen, a man she rejected ages ago, she is surprised at their unexpected chemistry. Full of witty banter, high stakes, and steam this book is sure to leave readers rooting for the couple and racing to see what happens next. I've read several other books by Alisha Rai, all of them lovely, and I can't wait to see what else she writes. This book is perfect for fans of romanctic suspense, or anyone who watches action movies but loves the romance sub=plot the most.

Partners in Crime is a delightful romp that I couldn’t put down! Alisha Rai’s romantic adventure is an amazing, can’t miss second chance road trip.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Accountant Mira is having a bad day. Her latest beau, who she found via her Desi matchmaker, dumped her. Now she’s headed to the reading of her aunt’s will, and she arrives to discover the attorney is her ex. Naveen left his high powered law firm and stopped drinking after Mira left him, and now works for his grandfather’s small time clients. But, after the reading of the will, the two are kidnapped and taken to Las Vegas in order to find missing jewels that Mira may or may not know about.

Mira and Naveen are thrown into one crazy situation after another. To say much more would spoil this raucous plot. Their
Las Vegas adventure is forced proximity at its best; in order to survive they have to work together. As a result, they are forced to open up to each other and work through their unresolved feelings.

I loved Mira and Naveen together! The best part of this kind of road trip romance is that the couple is on page together entire time. Their bickering, intelligence, and sexual tension are the ingredients that tie the fast paced story together. But they are interesting as individuals too. Mira needs to come to terms with her past, and Naveen helps her work through it. Naveen has family issues as well, and I loved the matter of fact way he mentions therapy as a valuable tool in their lives. He also loves escape rooms, and the fact that these details mesh so well in context is the beauty of this story.

Partners in Crime is a romantic scavenger hunt around Las Vegas. There are twists and turns galore that are worthy of any Hollywood film. But it’s the connection between Mira and Naveen that makes this romance one of my favorite books this year.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I wanted to love this book but unfortunately it didn’t resonate with me. The plot line is something I would’ve enjoyed but sadly I couldn’t get behind the third person POV. The book also lacked some of the wow factor I look for when reading a romcom or romance novel. I’ll always root for Naveen and Mira but this wouldn’t be a re-read for me. I wish that it would’ve been in first person 100% throughout because then you can understand their thoughts better. I would also include less clichés and MORE plot twists to produce the wow factor. I would read more Alisha Rai books because her ideas are phenomenal, this just wasn’t the one for me. It would be a great read for others though!

Do you want a Desi Romcom that is a second chance romance that also involves running from FBI agents, high stakes poker, and more? This is the book for you! Naveen is an attorney who is working for his family business and is reunited with his ex, Mira, when she comes to settle a family member's will. What happens next is a whirlwind adventure and you can just feel the chemistry that Naveen and Mira have on the page! This is a must read for any romance reader!

Mira and Naveen were set up by an Indian matchmaker years ago, but it didn't take. Now, Naveen is back in Mira's life after the death of her aunt. Of all people, he's the lawyer reading her aunt's last will and testament. As Mira walks away she doesn't expect to see Naveen again. Fate and Indian aunties have different plans though, and Mira and Naveen are both unwillingly drawn into whatever illegal scheme Mira's father was involved in before his death. To make it out alive they'll have to learn to trust each other, and maybe just fall in love along the way.

I can't deny that I appreciated what Alisha Rai did in this book - she took an actiony premise (hijinks in Vegas with some mafia-boss like antics) and she mixed some second chance romance with it. I started to read this book on vacation in Vegas to feel immersed (and also because I started thinking of my own ideas for a Vegas-set romance) and I did read it quickly. I feel like the action carried the book very well and I thought Mira was a fun character. I think that there's a bit where it fell flat though - I wanted more of a Vegas setting, like it barely felt like it was set in Vegas. And I also thought the romance spurred a bit sudden and out of left field. Sure there was buildup but they kind of kissed and with little chemistry beforehand. Maybe if there was some more tension and chemistry, then I would've loved this book a lot more than I did.

Okay, I know I'm biased because I think Alisha Rai is the cutest thing to walk this earth, but this book was truly just so cute and so much fun. It's essentially a giant escape room puzzle with a lil bit of DRAMA! Easily one of those books you can binge in one sitting, and I highly recommend you do come October upon it's release!

Thank you to Netgalley and Avon Books for an advanced copy of this book that allowed me to write this early review.

I genuinely enjoyed Alisha Rai’s PARTNERS IN CRIME, with twisty turns and a couple of plot twists that made me audibly gasp. It features an unlikely pair that gets kidnapped by the henchmen of a high-powered criminal mastermind and take a road trip to try and pay back a family debt, and are forced to confront their abandoned feelings for another along the way. While it’s pitched as a romance, I think it’s best read as a fun adventure novel with a side of romance characterized by physical attraction and developed with character growth.

What happens when your late aunt’s lawyer turns out to be the guy you dumped via text three years ago? Well, for Mira Patel it means that you both end up getting kidnapped in the parking lot and told to retrieve a diamond necklace, or face the consequences. The setup for this book immediately grabbed me, especially with the potential for second-chance romance. While I didn’t quite get that, I enjoy the way that the plot overall is handled. It’s just twisty enough to keep you reading without going full throttle on the thriller aspects. If you’re coming in hoping just for romance, this might not be the book for you, but in terms of plot, this was pretty enjoyable all around for me.

Character and relationship growth wise, we see Mira and Naveen go from partners out of necessity, to partners by choice. Mira struggles with the harm and trauma of her past life now that she’s seemingly moved on, and Naveen works to settle into himself as he continues to recover from addiction and find a path in life that’s fully his. The book sees both of them grow, though Mira’s is more memorable, and that growth sees them come closer together. There isn’t necessarily sizzling chemistry, although the characters are clearly attracted to one another. But we do see how they fit together and better one another. Again, it’s not necessarily what I came into the book wanting or expecting, but I still enjoyed it.

At the end of the day I would recommend this book. If you’re in romance purely for the romance, it’s probably not your thing. But if you’re looking for a romance with a heavy dose of adventure, plot, and a nice dose of character growth along the way, this one might be for you!

The title and cover intrigue me enough to read this book. Was it a masterpiece, no, but was a fun action/romantic comedy with second chance romance, yes! I would have liked a bit more drama but it was an ok read full of family dynamics - had potential but definitely fell short.

Thank you to Avon and Harper Voyager and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this digital arc

I am so tired excited for this book! I have to admit, I haven’t been a huge fan of Rai’s in the past. I found her work really angsty, or just had trouble getting into it. This book was everything I wanted. Emotional, thrilling, sexy, fast paced. I loved it so much. I loved the second chance aspects, but also the commentary on flawed families and found families. I loved it so so much. I hope for more!

I couldn't put this book down. The fast-paced adventure, combined with mystery and reunited lovers was the perfect weekend afternoon read. I have already requested other books by Rai from my library.

This ended up being a rather fun, sexy suspenseful read. I think the plot is trying rather hard to be exciting and mysterious but the main characters do have good chemistry.

This kept me reading past my bedtime! Mira is not having luck with her matchmaker, after 12 matches that didn't take her matchmaker is going to fire her. She is having a bad day that gets worse when she goes to settle her aunt's affairs and the lawyer is the only match that she has regrets about. Things get even worse when they are kidnapped in the parking lot. Can Mira and Naveen put aside the past to survive?

Alisha Rai has done it again. I loved this book. What a refreshing take on the “partners in crime” trope on dating apps. Mira and Naveen are great together but I wish they’d been more honest from the beginning. So many issues! Loved this book.

This is a brilliantly written romcom that has matchmaking, kidnapping, and escapades galore.

Mira has just been dumped by her latest matchmaking client candidate and is quite upset. Then she finds out that her aunt has passed away and that just makes everything even worse. To make things even more complicated the attorneys office that Mira goes to in order to hear about the wheel is Naveen’s office. He is one of the first candidates that Mira had matched with and she had dumped it. Levine is shop to see Mira with not only the woman who dumped him but who happens to have a different name then he was told.

As Mira leave the office she is attacked and then when Naveen comes they are kidnapped. They both escaped the kidnapping and decide to find out why her aunt passed is leading to such situation. This is when the fun begins in the book. It’s a constant symphony of capers and interesting characters that Mira and Naveen meet along the way. Also you see that they have chemistry and you wonder why Mira broke up with him in the first place. As a relationship progresses you fall in love with the idea of Mira and Naveen as a couple.

This really is a romcom in the best of the ways. It’s a romance through and through and all of the hijinks along the way are entertaining and keep you engrossed in this book in a way that you can’t put it down.

Thank you to Avon Books and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy. These opinions are my own.

Mira and Naveen were set up by a matchmaker years ago, but she called it off. Now she is surprised to come across him again when visiting a law office. The two get tangled up in a crime they need to solve.

The crime elements were so over the top that they made me laugh and felt like a light escape. Picture everything from a fun action movie from awful henchmen to car chases and fake identities. It landed solidly in fun rom-com territory for me, and the added twists and mysteries were great.

Simultaneously, it also managed to tackle deeper issues of trust in a second chance romance as well as family issues. I loved their adventures and their quieter moments. I wasn't ready for the book to end (though I loved the epilogue).

So if you like a bit of adventure with your romance, I highly recommend this.
