This book starts with Ali & Matthew just coming from their third anniversary celebration, and having a very heated argument in the car. There is a torrential downpour and the car swerves off of the road into the river beyond. Ali is saved, but she has severe injuries, and cries for someone to save Matthew. The rescuers are unable to find Matthew and he is presumed dead.
Ali refuses to believe Matthew is dead. She assists the help of her best friend Liz's husband Dane to help her to find Matthew. Her daughter, Emma worries about her mom, but she does all she can to help keep her mom's real estate development company running while she is recovering.
Along the way, Ali discovers secrets that devastate her. She wonders who is lying to her. Is Matthew still alive, but hiding? She doesn't know who to trust. She feels betrayed by those closest to her. Ali discovers many things that threaten to tear her family and friends apart.
This book was a fast read for me. Some of the twists were predictable, however I couldn't stop reading. I had to find out if what I thought was the outcome would be the truth. This book doesn't have the action some of us are used to in a thriller, but it keeps your interest. If you enjoy domestic thrillers I think you will enjoy this book. This book was given to me by Net Galley for an honest review.
My Husband’s Secrets by Louise Sharland sure does have a lot of secrets in her life. This starts out with a fatal car accident on Ali and Matthew’s anniversary. She can’t believe he is gone and has to learn to live without him. She finds out lots of secrets she never knew he had. This kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to see what was coming up next.
This is my first book I have read by by this author. As you can by the one star review I was quite disappointed. So as you know from the blurb, Ajo and Matthew are on there way home from their anniversary party and they slip into the water with only Ali making it out alive. They can’t find Matthew’s body leaving Ali to believe he is alive. As the book progresses Ali finds out many things. But no spoilers here. The only pro in this book was the beginning and the blurb. From that point on, it was repitive and so slow going. I truly hate giving bad reviews but this book did not do anything for me. I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC I received for this book for an honest review.
What a tragedy to happen on their wedding anniversary. Ali and Matthew are involved in a terrible auto accident. Ali is saved, but Matthew is nowhere to be found - presumed drowned. Ali is mourning his death, but believes he still could be alive. Then discrepancies appear in the accounts, money unaccounted for and suspicions from the employees. Could Matthew have some secret agenda. Ali starts to learn more about her husband's secrets.
I thank the author, publisher and Netgalley for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Is the man you married everything he seems to be or are dark secrets lurking in the background? That is the question throughout this story. I think we'd all like to think we know our significant others inside and out, but can we ever truly know someone as deeply as we'd like?
After the death of her first husband, Rory, Ali is left alone with her daughter, Emma and the business they created together. After a few years her friends, Liz and Dane introduce her to Matthew, and they fall in love quickly. Fast forward a few years and they are just finishing celebrating their third wedding anniversary at a party with friends. In the parking lot, they get into an argument and as they're driving home, Matthew is speeding and he loses control of the car, plunging them in to the river below. Ali is able to escape with the help of her friends, but the car and Matthew are swept away. Matthews body is never recovered, and Ali is left a widow for a second time. What happens in the months after their terrible accident, is a complicated web of lies, deceit and betrayal. Is Matthew still alive and if he is, just what has he been hiding all these years?
This is the first book I have read by this author. The story kept me on the edge of my seat and is a definite page turner. I found myself yelling at her for not doing things like changing her locks or getting a security system in her home. My heart would be thumping as I was quickly turning the page to see what she was about to uncover and I for one, never saw the twists coming. I really enjoyed this story and will be looking for more from this author, I received this book for free from NetGalley for an honest review.
my husband's secrets is a good mystery with a storyline that goes from bad to worse.
The tenacity of the lead character is inspiring. It is good to see a strong female lead withstand the nightmare that her life becomes.
I read this book in a day at the beach. A good summer read in that it is engrossing.
a really good read with lots of twists and turns. It holds your attention as you are wondering what happens next.
This book was a decent thriller about the secrets a woman discovers when her husband is missing, presumed dead. No one is as innocent as they seem and I didn’t expect the final twist at the end. I did not find the main character overly likable, which brought down my rating a bit. She made too many excuses and seemed to have her head too far into the sand for much of the story. But it was still an enjoyable, fast read and would be a great pick for a summer beach read.
Big thank you to @netgalley and @harpercollins360 for the ARC!

The plot of this book kept me reading until the end. Having said that, the writing is repetitive and superfluous. I think you can cut 25-30% of the words without losing an ounce of the story. With better editing, this book could have been quite good.
I did like this book, it has an engaging story and a strong ending- without the shocking twists that seem to be so popular these days. Ali is in an accident that costs her husband his life, or so she believes. But things keep coming up that make her question what really happened that night. As things unfold contradictory messages come up making her question what she believes.
As it turns out, many are keeping all sorts of secrets that are revealed that show her that some of what she did believe was true, and other was not.
Pretty quickly paced and fun to read, even if people you believe in turn out to be not so good afterall.
Disappointing after a strong start. I'm fine with unlikeable characters if the plot is suspenseful and surprising (see Gone Girl). This one was repetitive and lackluster.
I was hooked from the very first scene in this book when Ali and Matthew's speeding car slides off the mud-slicked road into the river below. Though Ali's injuries are serious, leaving her with a limp, she does not know what happened to Matthew. He is presumed dead, but Ali does not believe it and sets out to find him, with the help of their friend Dane. Or is a friend? And what were she and Matthew arguing about when their car crashed.? So many mysteries and threads lead to a truly unforeseen ending. This is a fast-paced mystery that will keep you turning the pages until you find out what happened--and you will not see it coming.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the advance copy of this title to read and review.

Oy, this one started off immediately with a bang! But, like popping a bottle of champagne, it quickly fizzled out afterwards. For me, all of the characters were unlikable and the story line was tedious and repetitive at best.
After celebrating their wedding anniversary and having a little bit too much to drink, ‘Ali’ and Matthew, leave the hotel in an argument. Ali can’t remember what the argument was about because shortly after leaving the hotel, their car skidded down a ravine and into the river below. Ali was pulled out of the car badly broken and bruised. During recovery, she suffered from a bit of amnesia regarding the events immediately before and immediately after the crash. A search for Matthew ensued, but he was no where to be found. Everyone eventually presumed Matthew was dead, but Ali refused to believe it because his body was never found. But if he’s still alive, where is he and why hasn’t he come home?

I appreciate receiving a free copy of this eBook to review. I really enjoyed the story.
Ali and her husband are in a car accident. Ali survives and her husband is missing, presumed dead to everyone except Ali. Ali, with help, is on a mission to find her missing husband and along the way learns of his many secrets.
I wish the story was more dramatic. Most of the secrets just weren't exciting or juicy enough (were most of them even secrets at all???) and there wasn't much action in the book, either. I really liked several of the characters, but I didn't like Ali, whom we spend the entire story with. For someone supposedly so polished, she was wholly unpleasant to everyone around her while her attitude towards her missing husband remained schoolgirl obsessive. She reminds me of the type of mom who is so desperate for love that she'd ignore her own child's abuse at the hands of her new romantic partner to preserve her own happiness at the expense of her child. It made it exceptionally difficult to root for her, so instead I felt indifferent to her plight. Liz and Emma were far more interesting characters whom I wish we got to see more of. Overall, though, it was an entertaining story and a solid book. It was a good read.
This is a new-to-me author, and I enjoyed the storyline. Secrets, lies, betrayal, healing, hope, survival, and more. Ali was a bit annoying at times but I liked the fact that when she finally got her act together, she was a strong woman fighting for her daughter, her business, and her future.
I figured out early on who the bad guy was but not exactly why.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I loved this book , it was very fast paced and an easy read! It hooked me in the first sentence! I had to keep reading even when i wasnt supose to be ! I liked Ali's character and was wanting to know what happend so early on
This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, Harper360 and by #NetGalley. Opinions expressed are completely my own.

Synopsis: On the evening of their wedding anniversary, Ali and Matthew are involved in a fatal car accident. Grief-stricken, Ali can’t bring herself to believe that her beloved Matthew is gone… The smell of his aftershave lingers in their bedroom. His voice still rings out on their answerphone. She sees his face in the eyes of strangers. But as the months pass, and her family and friends rally round, Ali starts to uncover secrets that Matthew kept from her. Did she really know her husband as well as she thought she did? And why can’t she shake the feeling that somehow, somewhere, he is still alive?
My Thoughts: I really wanted to love this book, it had a wonderful premise. It just fell a little flat for me. The characters were one-dimensional and did not have much depth, shallow, and not likable. The prologue and first few chapters was great, then there was repeating of information as well as the repeated swearing, I just felt like it did not add any value to the novel. Having said this, there is still some twists, suspense, and tension created throughout the book. It was still a good read and I would absolutely read other novels by this author.
I really loved this book! Fast paced, light suspense, and an easy read. The storyline felt believable, which made me like this even more. It was very well written and I look forward to reading more from this author in the future. This really is a must read!! 5 stars ⭐️
