This book was a 3.5 rounded up to 4 star book. I enjoyed the writing and thought it was predictable but still great! The writing style was good and told an exciting story.

I didn't love this, nor did i hate it.

I was certainly intrigued by it from the location it takes place in, to the book cover. I think it just fell flat in a lot of ways compared to other thrillers I have read. I loved the documentary aspect of the whole thing. I think that made up for a lot that fell flat.
I still think it's something that alot of people will enjoy. It does keep it you on the edge of your seat!

Great storyline, engaging characters, and a "I didn't see that coming" ending is what you get in When She Disappeared. How do you solve a 15-year old mystery in a small town--you interview everyone who knew the victim, over and over again. Just when you think you have it figured out, the book ends and your mouth is hanging open. Enjoyed this book!

Margo comes back to her hometown, Lake Moss, to help her father recover from his knee operation. Her father, Shane, is a beloved coach and teacher at the local high school.

Coincidentally, the same time she returns is when the body of her missing friend, Jessie Germaine, is found. Jessie went missing her senior year of high school but nobody knew if she ran away or was killed and hidden.

Margo, along with another childhood friend, Austin, work together with his documentary crew to investigate what really happened the last night that Jessie was seen.

Huge twist ending! I suspected something about the truth but it still took me by surprise!

When She Disappeared by Steph Mullin and Nicole Mabry was just an okay read for me. I get lost when the authors provide too many unnecessary details to describe a scene, which adds nothing to the story. Then, I get pulled from the story because of this. The story was slow, and there was not much build-up in the mystery, especially as it was described as a psychological thriller. It was hard to get through and even care about what was going to happen.

The relationship between Margo and her father was nice to read about. It was probably the best part of the book.

I'm rounding up from a 2.75 to a 3 for When She Disappeared.

When She Disappeared is an intense murder mystery that had me hooked from the very beginning! I didn't want to put this one down and wish I didn't have to for those few snippets of time when someone needed something from me! This was really good and now I want to go back and read more from this duo!

THIS BOOK WAS SO GOOD! One of the best I have read this year. Margo's life changed when her childhood best friend, Jessie, went missing. She left for college and didn't turn back until her father needed help while recovering from surgery. Margo didn't fit in as a child and she felt as if she still didn't fit in. After coming home the body of Jessie was discovered and the investigation was reopened. Margo was able to reconnect with someone she had a crush on in high school and have the opportunity to help investigate Jesse's murder.

First of all the cover to this book is gorgeous! The writing drew me in from the first chapter. I was so invested in who killed Jessie and let me tell you, I did not guess right.
The authors really made it feel like everyone did it. You would guess a suspect and then you would second guess yourself because it might be another person.
I wasn’t a fan of the ending, I needed it all wrapped up in a nice bow and I don’t think I got that. Still Overall a great book and I will definitely be seeking out more from these authors.

This is my first novel by this author, I found this an intriguing story and I liked the aspect of them interviewing each of Margo’s old classmates and assuming they are all in the frame for Jessie’s murder. A different type of who done it mystery. I do have to say I was a bit disappointed with the ending it wasn’t all I thought it would be. There really isn’t much I can tell you about this book as it would spoil it for potential readers. There isn’t a lot of twists but there is something captivating about this read!

This book kept me pulled in. It was suspenseful and I found it hard to put down. It was a well written book. Recommending to others for sure.

I really enjoyed the story in the beginning, but then a chapter about 35% in or so hit and I felt like it completely changed the tone of the book in a way that it felt like I was reading a completely different story. I just couldn't get into it after that and had to DNF not much later.

From the opening of a high schooler uncovering a body in a local swimming hole, I was hooked. After this a twenty year old missing persons case is reopened. With a documentary crew investigating and a handful of suspects, there was plenty of suspicion. This book was a twisty thriller and my initial guess was completely wrong.

I really enjoyed this book. I was actually surprised by part of the ending, which is great. I only gave four stars though because I felt as though there was something missing in the writing style that I can't exactly pinpoint.

This sounded really cool in theory, with the true crime documentary aspect, which I'm really into but I felt like there was just too much going on and it made it hard for me to focus. I even tried the audio, but it still wasn't a good fit for me.

It was still well-written in my opinion, just a little too long and all over the place for me.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read and review.

After a couple of starts and stops, I finished this novel. The plot is interesting, and although the authors have talent, they don't seem to know how to write well. What happened to the editor? This is a traditionally published novel, it shouldn't have beginner's mistakes. For their next book, I recommend that someone gives the authors constructive criticism on how to write dialogue (there's too much info dumping, it sounds stilted and fake), how to cut words and make sentences pop, and perhaps also point out (and eliminate) all the cliches. The end left me unsatisfied and a bit annoyed.

Thanks NG for the early read. I have to say, I had high hopes for this book. I was disappointed at the end. It was great until the ending happened. This book kept me guessing til the very end, and then some. I thought I knew what was going to happen but I didn’t really figure it out until it all came together. I hope there’s a follow up. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Jessie Germaine went missing in 2004, after leaving school and vanishing into thin air. Fast forward to 2019. Some high school kids are at a local swimming hole when her body is found.

Jessie’s friend, Margo is coming back to Lake Moss after being away for years. Her father just had knee surgery and needs her help. She is recently separated and is looking to start over so this is a good opportunity. She hears the news about Jessie as she arrives in town.

The crew from ‘Into Thin Air’, a crime documentary program, are in town to air a segment about Jessie. One of their classmates, Austin is part of the show crew. Margo helps him interview old classmates and others who were associated with Jessie at the time of her disappearance. Margo also finds clues to Jessie’s last days as she reads through old diary entries.

Who killed Jessie Germaine and why? The answer will shock you!

This is my first book by these authors. I was in suspense throughout the book and shocked at the ending. It’s definitely worth a read.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

After 15 years, Margo is finally returning to Lake .Moss to care for her widowed father following his surgery. Upon arriving back in town, Margo soon learns that her best friend Jessica’s body has been discovered at the bottom of a local swimming hole where. It had been hidden in a cooler for the last 15years. Here begins the story, who murdered Jessica? Was it Charlie who Jessica was dating? Is it Cassidy who Jessica’s was always confiding in? Is it Tucker who states he was with Charlie the night Jessica disappeared? Or is it somewhere in between? Only Margo and her friend Austin can find the truth, but will they. The ending will surprise you, it had me guessing until the very end.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t get into this book, no matter how hard I tried. I just didn’t connect to the material as I hoped I would.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to review this book.

Margo returns to Lake Moss to help her dad recover from surgery. As soon as she arrives, she finds out the body of her childhood friend, Jessie, has been discovered in an ice chest thrown in a local swimming hole for seniors. She and her former classmate Austin work together questioning the townspeople for the tv show Into Thin Air to try to drum up new information on who killed Jessie.

The premise of this book sounded great but it fell far short of great. First, the characters weren't well defined or distinguishable from one another. Many were one-note. Margo is in her early 30s but is vastly immature for her age. She speaks and acts like a teenager, almost like she'd stopped maturing around 14 or 15. Austin speaks exactly like Margo does even though a 30-year-old man doesn't talk in the same fashion as a woman would. That alone is enough to distract a reader from really getting into the book.

Second, there were no thrills. For a thriller, there were a lot of things added in that were supposed to cast doubt on people, but none of it was mysterious at all. There were issues I wanted to see addressed that were dropped in and out but never fully realized. Was Margo harassing her ex still or had she stopped? If she had stopped, why mention it? Margo's stalker was easy to figure out as was the murderer.

Third, the ending was a complete throwaway. It ended in what was supposed to be a cliffhanger but was instead just lazy writing. The book didn't end so much as just abruptly stopped. Honestly, it was almost a slap in the face to the reader to make it all the way to the end to have the book just stop that way. I originally gave this book 3 stars, but after ruminating on it, I think it's more 2 1/2 or even two.
