Wyatt Ford left Cold Springs to get away from his entitled manipulative family. He thought nothing could make him return until he gets a wedding invitation from his little brother asking him to please come. On arriving back in his hometown, he discovers things have changed. Townspeople are protesting in the street, his father the mayor is drunk on a weekday, and the name Ford is spoken more as an expletive than his last name. His uncle Jed and his plan to rezone farmland to build a new housing development are behind most of the trouble. At the head of the protest is Etta Sullivan, Jed's ex-fiance and owner of Puss and Boots tavern where Wyatt falls for a sassy pool shark that happens to be Etta's niece. Hazel is charmed and attracted by this handsome stranger until she learns he's one of "them". But as maid of honor to his best man they're forced together and the more time she spends with him she realizes he's not like the rest of his family. But Cold Springs is her home and he'll never stay.
I fell in love with this small town with its quirky characters and close-knit community vibe. I could see this becoming a series with so many interesting characters and plotlines to develop. I loved Hazel's sass and how much fun banter she had with Wyatt. And the parrot...omg I laughed so hard!!
I I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
After leaving and not returning Wyatt is coming back to Cold Springs for his brothers wedding. He plans on attending the wedding and then leaving. Then he meets Hazel, his future sister-in-laws best friend. And with the last name Ford, Hazel isn’t going to get involved with him. But being around each other they grow closer. And Wyatt see’s what’s going on with the town and his family. But he has to decide if he’s going to stick around long enough to do something about it. This is a good small town romance full of funny banter, and one hilarious bird.
This is a great redemption story that finds love along with new beginnings. Wyatt left Cold Springs years ago, found his own way of life creating a successful wood working business without his family name, Ford and Uncle Jed trying to control his life only to return when his brother asked him to be in his wedding. Wyatt is surprised to see how the town dislikes his family and discovers how Jed is trying to destroy families, livelihoods and their small town life with an upscale neighborhood, higher taxes on their farm land. Wyatt meets Hazel and instantly becomes interested in her and is happy she’s in the wedding party. Hazel’s family is nothing but strong crazy over the top women who speak their minds and yes, CRAZY and lovable! These two should be enemies but find that risking their hearts can fiber so good in and out of the bed! Wyatt shows the town that he is behind them and becomes the driving force against Jed and his plans to over take the town with his brother, the mayor and Wyatt’s father. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

When you leave town and never really want to go back due to not wanting to work in the "family business", but then your brother calls and pretty much begs you to come back... Surprise he's getting married and wants you to be there and be in the wedding. Throw in the conniving Uncle that the whole town pretty much can't stand, your father who's caught in the middle and then the spunky gal and her family that have the worst potty mouths and vulgar sense of humor. Will this be enough to make you stay or run for the hills? Read this one to find out what happens. Great sibling bonding and hilarious town-folk!
The Wrong Bridesmaid by Lauren Landish is a book full of laugh out loud moments, family drama, and steam! This small town vibe brings to life the love story of Hazel and Wyatt. Once I started, I didn't want to put it down which is always a sign of a good book! Looking forward to reading more from this author!
Lauren Landish delivers a story full of fun banter and lively characters in The Wrong Bridesmaid.
As William Wyatt Ford the third aka Wyatt returns to his hometown of Cold Springs to witness his younger brother Winston marry. And finds the battle lines have been drawn between the lifelong residents and his dad, the mayor and his uncle. An unscrupulous developer who wants to bring major change to the historic town.
Where he meets spirited and sassy Hazel the maid of honour and even though she's been taught to heartily despise the 'Ford' family name. She can't help but be charmed by Wyatt, especially as he's willing to help the protest against his family.
And with sweetness, humour, great pacing, memorable characters and a crazy parrot. This was a really enjoyable read and the perfect story if you're in need of a pick me up.
I'm always up for a great Lauren Landish romcom!
This was another fun read that I was able to get through in a single sitting (under 300 pages) - also, it was so captivating and I didn't want to put it down. A fantastic storyline that really draws you in!
Wyatt Ford is guilted into returning to his home town for his younger brother Winston's wedding. A town that he managed to escape in his college years, along with his toxic uncle and diminishing relationship with his father (the Mayor). He reluctantly returns for the wedding, with plans to escape again immediately afterwards, but gets dragged back into family drama related to a business deal his uncle is trying to do, and have his father, as mayor, get run through council. On top of that, one of the bridesmaids has caught his attention...
This is a great read and so very many things going on - not just the relationship between the couple, but a lot of family drama, on all fronts. It was a really great read! None of the drama is too angsty, it's so well dealt with, no triggers, and I absolutely recommend it for everyone!
It is a very unique storyline, not like any I've read before, as you can expect when picking up a Lauren Landish novel, so hop on over to KU and grab yourself a copy now!
I received an advance copy from NetGalley and Montlake, and this is my honest review.
This was such a fun read...
I am so running out and getting myself a Lester-like parrot!
This is one of those stories that has it all... Lots of LOL-moments, lots of family drama, lots of smalltown vibes, and lots of heat!
I really enjoyed reading this book, and I will be looking for the audiobook version just to hear Lester yelling at everybody and grandpa Joe zinging people...
Thank you so much for an awesome reading experience! <3
I was very entertained by this story. Lately I admit, I've been in a bit of a book slump- everything feeling kind of "eh" to me. I worried this would follow the same vine but it didn't. Once I started, I didn't want to put it down and the flow of Hazel and Wyatt's love story was just right.
Wyatt is home for a wedding, hasn't been back in years, and it seems the whole town is fighting his family. Hazel is on the town's side, and she has her guard up at first but he's pretty persistent about getting to know her. Plus, they're both in the wedding. I love the genuine connection they build, the undeniable attraction, and the way everyone is all up in their business. But I especially love her silly bird. He provided great comic relief. This was just all around a pleasure to read.
Wyatt is back, years after he left town, after a disagreement with his Dad. He had no plans of returning, but an invitation to his brothers wedding has him driving back to Cold Springs.
Hazel Sullivan is fiercely independent and the maid of honor for her best friends wedding. She is not looking for any romance and definitely not with a Ford. But you can’t control who you are attracted to.
This is a very cute read. I really enjoyed the interactions between Wyatt and Hazel, it was adorable and funny. The secondary characters are quirky and eccentric, including the parrot. The book was funny, sweet, entertaining and hot !
Wyatt comes home to attend his brother’s wedding. He left town after a family disagreement and hasn’t been back since. When he sees Hazel across the local bar he is instantly attracted to her, one problem though, her aunt has had a feud going with his family for decades. Even although the name Ford is a dirty word in her family, Hazel can’t deny her attraction to Wyatt. She thinks she can handle a fling with him as he is only meant to be in town for the wedding. They grow closer and closer as they spend time together getting ready for the wedding as the bride is her best friend. We get to meet their quirky friends and family, go to a wedding, take part in a demonstration and watch the town pull together for the greater good, all while seeing them fall in love. Hazel is a strong, independent, loyal and passionate woman. Wyatt is talented, determined and wants to do the right thing. I love small town romance, so this is right up my street.
If you love small-town romances, this book is for you! Luckily, I was on a small-town romance binge when I started reading this book and really enjoyed it. Wyatt and Hazel are such fun characters and this book was just a joy to read. Lauren Landish's writing will surely keep you entertained with all the banter between the protagonists. Overall, this was a solid read and I had a ton of fun reading it!
Laugh out loud funny, The Wrong Bridesmaid is everything I love about rom coms! The story contained my favourite tropes (enemies to lovers & small town) and a couple, Wyatt & Hazel, who are absolute magic together. This was my first Lauren Landish book, but it certainly won’t be my last!
Thank you for the opportunity to review this new novel.
The premise of this novel sounded like great fun but the execution left me disappointed. A romance that’s steamy is entertaining but crass is not charming. I don’t have the energy to read novels that I don’t care for and I put it down. I’m sorry.
Hazel and Wyatt. Enemies to lovers? Well, they're from different sides of their small town- he's wealthy, she's not and now his family is making things worse for people in town. They meet at a wedding and then careen around town through the politics and family feuds to find their happy ending. This has good dialogue and some funny scenes but it's also very trope-y. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. It makes a nice read for a rainy day.
This was a fun romcom.
I really enjoyed the flirting and banter between Wyatt and Hazel. It was witty and funny. I do wish that their relationship would have been developed a bit more. It felt rushed and the ending seemed a little unbelievable.
I also felt there was too much going on. There's the wedding plot but also a town zoning plot. They do tie into each other eventually but I think they just didn't work together.
The writing itself is good.
Overall, this was cute but the romance was rushed and the plot had too much going on.
What I like about Wyatt and Hazel... despite family, small town politics, and wedding drama, they were able to put it all aside, and make their relationship work. Hazel is forthright and bold. Wyatt has a life outside of the small town. But they realized that their emotions were more important and put forth the effort to allow happiness.
As always Lauren Landish has me laughing my bottom off! The Wrong Bridesmaid was a laugh out loud romantic comedy with a heroine who is a spitfire. She doesn’t back down. She says what she’s thinking and she’s really got the eldest Ford tied in knots. I didn’t want to put this down since these two were so much fun to read about.
Will extend my review closer to release day!

Who doesn’t love a small town romance with two people who can’t stand each other, but realize they must just give in to their attraction at some point. Loved the banter between the two, Hazel is sassy, and will keep you laughing at every turn. Wyatt is the bad boy that you can’t live without, he has his moments and also needs a little work. This author throws in suspense with a twist, it’s fun and quirky, you don’t want to miss out.
