A cute, adorably illustrated guide for kids to a few of NYC’s landmarks hidden in the fanciful banter between two traveling cats. A fun read for little ones planning to take a trip with family to the Big Apple, the text involves a bit of a playful element of mystery. Great to start your own scavenger hunt for a family trip to New York City.
O.m.g. how cute are these cats?! The drawings are spot on.
I really liked this book and thought it was a fantastic idea! This should be a series, cats introducing kids to other places like this. Imagine a museum one!
Loved the library facts at the end. And of course the selfie, aww so cute. A very enjoyable read that didn't get bogged down with information or facts. Good diversity rep with the humans in the book, too.
I love books about cats, I love books about books, and I love everything about NYC. So of course, I also really loved this book. Baker and Taylor are two best friends who spend all of their time in their local library, reading completely different genres but enjoying each other's company along the way. When the librarian asks them why they never travel to see other places, they both explain that they like libraries best!
An idea comes to mind, and the librarian asks if they've ever seen the famous library cats of NYC, and so begins a fun adventure full of interesting facts about NY and all kinds of things within.
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Bookish cats Baker and Taylor are delightful to see on the page. This book gives kids a taste of NYC, covering a lot of ground in a short book. I had to read it twice because I thought I missed pages- it felt a little disjointed to me (jumped around a bit without transitions), but I dont think the audience it is meant for would take notice.
I'm embarrassed to say that i just learned more about the new york public library after reading this, than i have after living here for more than a decade. Very informative, great art work. I am relieved to know that me and Taylor have something in common aside from the love of books. We both like sardine sandwiches!
Thank you to netgalley for providing an eArc
This is a very interesting picture books of introducing New York Public Library from 2 cute book-loving cats' eyes to the readers. The illustrations are cute, the story kept me reading to the end. Good one!
This was a perfect start for a series of adventurous, book-loving cats. As they travel through New York City there are facts about the city, the New York Public Library, and even cats! We learn that not only can two different cats still be best friends but there's also more than one reason to enjoy reading. This is perfect for any child who likes cats, books or even just lives in the city.
Very cute book about cats that like to read. I believe this is a great book to help peak children's interest that normally want nothing to do with reading.
This was a cute read! The illustrations are great and I love that the cats enjoy reading. I like that even though they’re nervous to venture outside their library; they go exploring to see another library and to find the library cats. The tidbit boxes on every few pages was great; each one had an interesting fact. I also like that there’s a page that tells a little about the New York Public Library. There’s also a page telling about other New York landmarks.
This is a great addition to Baker and Taylor’s new imprint. It’s perfect for library lovers, cats, libraries, and a mystery! It’s a great first books in a new series.
Haha this was fun!! Two little cats who kept hearing about the "library cats" finally were able to find them!
**I reviewed Mystery of the Library Cats by Candy Rodo for free in exchange for my honest review. #BakerandTaylor #NetGalley**
The combination of cats, libraries, and travel won me over. 5 stars for this adventurous twosome! Taking a trip to see the library cats is a great idea. I'll have to plan the same trip for my little twosome.
I enjoyed reading this to my young granddaughters and they loved it. They didn't get the "Baker and Taylor" joke, but I did! Very cute and I love that it introduced them to the New York Public Library.
Thank you Netgalley and Paw Prints Publishing for providing me with this copy. I am grateful but my thoughts are my own.
Awee.. This book easily got 5 stars from me because combine 3 of my favourite things : cats, libraries full of books and travelling. Mystery of the Library Cats is a fun journey about two bookish cats who want to see the New York Public Library and meet another fellow cats who love reading too.
Baker and Taylor's story is very exciting.. Whole journey book fill with fun adventure and mini info about NY landmarks. I can see children will love "virtual outing" learning about it too.
I love this so much. Baxter and Taylor are so cute. I love cats and I love books and this book was so cute! I adore the illustrations and the story. I wasn’t expecting the NY cats to be lions, that was a lovey little trick. I also really loved the info about the library at the end!
Such a cute read and I totally related to the library cats. Loved the information about the library and New York as well.
So so cute! Kids love the library and kids love cats! In fact, I want to meet some library cats. Such a cute story with such sweet characters. A solid read but informative as well
This was such a cute book! We follow two cats, Baker and Taylor, as they travel to the New York Public Library. Along the way they travel on a train and the subway. Once they arrive at the library, they meet the two cats that guard the library - Patience and Fortitude, the two lion statues at the entrance of the library. Baker and Taylor are very impressed by these lions and vow to travel more and see other libraries.
Mystery of the Library Cats by Candy Rodo is a very cute children story about cats reading books. The illustrations are wonderful. The two cats go exploring to the New York Public Library because they here two cats live there. Find out who the two cats are when you read the book. Will definitely buy for my two year old granddaughter who loves cats and dogs.
Mystery of the Library Cats by Candy Rodo 4 stars
A lovely children's book about two library cats, Baker and Taylor, who go traveling to NYC to visit the New York Public Library. The illustrations were charming and the words gave a bit of color to NYC. The think the story will be easy to follow for a child. A clever insiders joke is the name of the two cats, "Baker and Taylor" is a supplier of content, software and services to public and academic libraries. I had fun reading this book and hope that Baker and Taylor will continue their travels.
Thank you Netgalley and Baker & Taylor/Paw Prints Publishing for this ARC.
