An actual adventure! I loved this a lot! I’m a big fan of New York and watching cats go on an NYC adventure was so much fun! I’ll be looking into other adventures Baker and Taylor went on.
First of all, as a librarian, I love the wink to Baker & Taylor by naming the cats after them. This is a sweet story about two library cats who go on an adventure to a big city library. It follows the trope of one friend being more outgoing than the other but that doesn't harm the story. Alongside the story of the cats, the reader is taught a little bit about New York City. There are asides on certain pages and more information at the end of the book. I would recommend this book to families with young kids traveling to New York as a way to introduce them to the city. Thank you to Candy Rodo, Paw Prints Publishing, and NetGalley for the drc.

We love books, we go to the library, he loved this book, but he was alerting me that the cats walked the streets without a mom. He know you don’t go anywhere without your mom. He then alerted me that they were lost because they didn’t have their mom. He enjoyed this book so much.
I love cats so I was really drawn to this childrens book. I thought the story was really cute and I think every child who reads this will love it because it'll get their minds thinking and full of wonder. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
This is dang cute. I am absolutely in love with the art work and the premise of the story. I will definitely end up purchasing this one for my classroom.
Mystery of the Library Cats is a wonderfully sweet but simple ittle picture book following two book loving cat friends on an adventure to New York Public Library.
As they travel to their destination to meet some fellow library cats, Baker and Taylor see many a new face and sight all accompanied by Bakers guidebook of fun facts.
I can definitely imagine this simple book would be loved by an inquisitive child- especially one that is soon to visit New York or has a well used library card! The best thing about this book however is the adorable illustrations, how could you not fall in love with a glasses wearing cat and their smelly-sandwich-on-the-subway carrying friend!
What a fun book! The setting is super cool. The illustrations are very cute. I think kids will really enjoy this book.
2 cats decide to visit the New York City library to see the library cats. It’s quite a journey to get to the library and you get to see the world from the cats eye level. What I loved most about the book was the author included information about the New York City library and other landmarks in the city.
What a cute story! I loved the art and the fun personalities of Baker and Taylor. These reading buddies decide to take their friends advice and venture out from their library in search of other Library cats like them. Their adventure takes them to New York and to the New York Public Library. With wonderful little facts throughout ( thanks to their guidebook) they let you learn history along with them. Such a cute book!

Absolutely adorable! My 5 year old daughter is crazy about cats so she loved this from page one. We got her first library card recently which she related well to and she also loved hearing about NYC. We lived in Philly for years before moving to Colorado and traveled to NY a lot to stay with friends. She’s seen pictures and we’ve spoken of taking her to New York when she’s older so all the aspects of this book really resonated with her and she loved it!
Thank you Netgalley and Paw Prints Publishing for the arc in exchange for an honest review!
This was an adorable book about two cats who live at a library and then venture out of it to find another library in New York city. Along the way they see various landmarks and people before making their way to the New York public library. The dialogue was simple but sweet and the pictures for each page were vibrant but not overwhelming. Some pages had small descriptors about the real landmarks which was a great touch.
Mystery of the Library Cats follows Baker and Taylor, two library cats and best friends, who go on an adventures to New York to find the library cats at the New York Public Library. They hop on the train, ride the subway, eat pizza, and read books. As they look for the library cats of the NYPL, they realize that they might not be exactly what they were expecting...find out who the famous library cats are when you read this book!
I enjoyed the little fun facts dispersed throughout the book to share tidbits about New York. This would be a fun introductory guidebook for young readers who are planning to explore and travel to New York with two fun library cats as their guide. There are also additional facts about the New York Public Library and other additional landmarks in New York at the end of the story. Cute book and I can't wait to see what new library Baker and Taylor end up at next!
Thank you NetGalley and Paw Prints Publishing for the advanced copy. All opinions are my own.
This book tells the story of a group of cats who travel to the New York Public Library to have an adventure. On the way they learn lots of interesting facts about New York City. At the end of the book there are two pages of detailed information about New York Public Library and other landmarks in NYC. I think this book is the perfect mix of information meets fiction, as it is an enjoyable story but also has lots of great details on the subject. As a grade 3 teacher, I would definitely consider purchasing a copy of this book for my classroom. I would recommend this book to parents and teachers of children in the age 6-10 range, especially those with an interest in New York City and American landmarks. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book!
A cute book! Baker and Taylor are two library cats. One day they are encouraged to leave to go find other library cats. They end up traveling to New York to find the New York Public Library's famous cats they hear of. But, first, they have to find their way there! The mystery is where the cats are, so not really a true mystery - more of finding their way there.
Mystery of the Library Cats was such a fun book, chock full of fun facts about the New York Public Library! I loved the cats' personalities and how they didn't want to leave their library (I can see myself there...) I also loved the illustrations of the cats exploring the NYPL and the "cats" (lions) there! I also appreciated all the facts throughout and at the end about NYC landmarks.
Thank you to NetGalley and Baker & Taylor, Paw Prints Publishing for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The story begins in a library where two cat friends, Baker and Taylor, love books and reading more than anything else. One cat loves history and faraway places, while the other loves adventure stories. After learning that there are other libraries out there in the world, the two friends combine their passions, and set out on an adventure to the New York Public Library. After a bit of exploring the city, they finally make it to the library and learn that things are not always what we think they are!
This was a really cute children's picture book - I would say it's best for ages 5-8 - that takes the reader through NYC while Baker and Taylor are trying to head to the New York Library. I loved that while this reads as a fun, fictional, story, the book also gives factoids throughout at the many NYC landmarks. Readers are able to experience the journey these two buddies make, while also learning facts about NYC.
