Loved this book. Tiger a powerful attorney who is tied to Chris Merit and Mark Compton in the Inside Out Series and he was all alpha. He meets his match in Faith Winters, an artist who is managing her life through taking care of what was left behind by her parents, a winery, not her passion, but her guilt to keep her dads legacy in tack. There is murder, lies, family secrets and lust in this story. It was a great read, some romance, some suspense, perfect for a weekend read.
This is a duet published together as one so I knew I was in for a longer read, as well as in for a read where the pacing would change in the middle at the end of book 1, then have to restart at book 2. However it didn’t really ramp up all that much and the whole storyline felt so drawn out that surely it could have been covered in 1 book instead of 2.
Our heroine has inherited a vineyard even though all she ever wanted to be was a painter, but she buries that part of herself to keep her family business afloat. Our hero is a cutthroat lawyer who is immediately drawn to the heroine but also suspects her of having something to do with his own father’s death. How else to find out what she’s hiding than to become close to her.
The connection between the two characters seems very intense and obsessive but also not at the same time, if that makes sense? They moved so quickly in their relationship while the plot itself moved slowly. Heat levels were ok but really fizzled out after what seemed like a big promise at the start. Overall this book was just a bit meh for me.
Romance with many elements. Very engaging.
Many thanks to Entangled Publishing and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
White Lies is the complete White Lies duet by Lisa Renee Jones.
Tropes:
✔️ lite bdsm
✔️ romantic suspense
Lisa Renee Jones produces a sizzling hot, angst filled story that had me on the edge of my seat.
As Nick tries to find out the truth behind his father’s death he meets the mysterious Faith Winter who he relentlessly pursues and is determined to uncover her secrets. But what happens when his secrets are revealed?
Nick and Faith’s chemistry was scorching and their overall story was full of intrigue and suspense.
I loved reading this book. This is an author that I have loved reading from the first book I picked up by her. One of my favorite things is her writing skills and her attention to details that make her stories pop. This book is no different. This is a well written story that has twists and turns like no other. This is a fast paced, engaging story that is hard to put down. A story where the author took two books and combined them into one. This is a story you don't want to miss. I enjoyed how the characters pulled me into the story from the start. They are creative, unique and made the story story for me. I enjoyed the secondary characters and how supportive they were. There is great growth throughout the story which made it easy to read read and entertaining. I really enjoyed this book and I hgihly recommend it.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you Entangled Publishing and Net Galley. I really enjoyed reading this double novel. I did not realize that it was 2 books until I saw that it was almost 600 pages. The first 40% of the book I found boring, but it certainly picked up after. The story line was a mystery and the sexual descriptions were vivid. Don't miss reading this book and look for your own Nick. This was my first by Lisa Renee Jones, but it certainly will not be my last.
This one was hard for me to stay engaged with. The length of the book was too long for my liking. I thought the characters were good and the plot interesting. I really wanted to love this book, but I ended up just liking it.
Absolutely stunningly written. As per usual, the novel starts out with a bang and ends with an explosion. You just cannot go wrong with Lisa Renee Jones.
Thank you NetGalley for providing this copy. The review here is solely my own opinion.
Lies are at the center of this story, because there were a lot of them. There was also a lot of passion, a lot of deceit and a lot of suspense. Pretty much everything I’ve come to expect from this author.
I have to admit that Nick wasn’t my favorite character in the beginning and it really did take me a while to get me to like him. I understood where he was coming from, but I didn’t like his approach. He was a man who was used to winning. He did have compassion for the underdog, but he made it clear that he had none for his enemies. Throughout a lot of at least the first part of White Lies (Provocative) he put Faith in that category, regardless of his attraction to her. I might have warmed up to him sooner if we hadn’t been given Faith’s POV as well as his.
Faith had some secrets of her own, but I sympathized with her from the beginning – even when those secrets were revealed. By the time I was totally warmed up to Nick, he had almost waited too long to come clean. *sigh*
There were a lot of twists and turns in White Lies and I have to admit that although some of the big reveal at the end wasn’t so surprising, some of it I never saw coming. I have to say that I’m really glad that I read this when it was offered as one complete book, because I would have hated the wait between Provocative and Shameless – even though it was just a few months. 😉
I dived into this book without any expectations, I don’t read suspense stories about murder/suspects but this one came out with flying colours. I requested it on Netgalley after reading its blurb, it intrigued me, and damm straight I’m glad I did. The book is fantastically written and the best thing is a get to read the duet together and didn’t had to wait for the story to get completed. It’s an accomplishment to read the entire story in one go and unravel all its secrets of it.
I loved how the writer has written it beautifully and the passion is clearly shown. The characters are intense, the story goes on with the flow and every word feels important to read and understand the feelings behind them. I freaking loved the plot and the dialogues, lines, and descriptions are super captivating to me. The closeness between two strangers as the story moves forward is intense and passionate and defines a connection that you want to feel and it fits everything in the heart in every nook and corner.
There was so much defined in one mystery that shaped the story and at some point, you can think that a certain thing might happen and if it does happen you’ll be amazed by the method it came into light or how it’s unwrapped. This story felt like a gift wrapped in many layers and while unwrapping those layers you can feel joy, nervousness even a small heart attack but in the end, everything was worth reading.
Nick is a strong confident person whereas Faith is unending and she needed a lot of self-sustainability where mental peace is concerned with the way she transformed I’m proud of it and the support Nick gives unconditionally without any expectation in return is mind-blowing. There was so much happening at once but it was never chaos in understanding. The story tells a Crystal clear picture and leaves no room for any doubt or questions.
This is Nick and Faith's story, a romantic steamy suspense, with a fast pacing story, that will have you on edge reading non-stop. It's a dual POV, giving the reader both sides of the story. It's a well written story, that you won't be able to stop reading until you discover all the mysteries, with twists and turns that will keep you entertained. It will be adapted and produced by Passionflix for the screen somewhere in the near future.
I'm always happy when Jones writes a story that wraps up in a single book rather than being parsed out in parts. She always writes a tense suspense with good character development, and this one is no different. But Nick's facade is a little creepy in today's mood, to me, and rather than coming off as secretive and private, perhaps, it felt more uncomfortable.
3.5 stars
This was a sexy read with an interesting mystery. While I liked the take charge romance in the beginning, Faith’s constant insecurity wore me down. I also thought there would have been more drama once Nick’s lies were revealed. I liked that Nick was the one who declared love first since that is not what is usually the case. I didn’t like how every conversation or interaction between Faith and Nick seemed to end up with sex. While I do enjoy sexy scenes in my stories, I don't like the scenes to be gratuitous.
A fantastic read, with sweet yet steamy moments, danger, and intrigue that will just have you glued to the pages.

WHITE LIES by Lisa Renee Jones
White Lies is the duet of previously released Provocative and Shameless. These are the combined story of Faith Winter and Nick Rogers. She is a frustrated artist who is in an creative dry spell and has inherited a winery and he is a high powered lawyer who has a reputation of being a "Tiger" in the courtroom. They both have secrets, his first is the idea that she killed his father and he has manipulated a meeting to decide what he can determine. The sparks are flying between them. They have a smoking hot passionate sensuality that is on fire. This is an intense, suspenseful, action packed, mysterious tale. I give this 5 stars.
This is actually 2 books in one --- Book 1: "Provocative" and Book 2: "Shameless."
The stories center around attorney Nick Rogers and artist Faith Winter. Nick is in search of the truth about what happened to his father, and Faith appears to be caught in the cross hairs of the mystery.
Very steamy, kept me guessing, and great character development!
This is a new author for me and I absolutely loved this duet!
Attorney Nick Rogers ‘life changes the second he walks into Faith Winter’s winery and lays eyes on her. Confidence, beauty, and inscrutable vulnerability. Provocative. But Nick knows at least one of Faith’s secrets—one of what he suspects is many…But Nick has a secret of his own: he already knows who she is. He’s only playing the role of a stranger, just enough to get to know her, to find out if Faith truly is the one who hurt his family. Hurt him. But Nick’s façade was only supposed to be on the surface.
Now lust and love are battling for Nick’s soul, even as he lures Faith deeper. Into his life. Into his heart. He could lose everything. But soon the lies will be exposed and the truth revealed. Because where the white lies end…obsession begins.
This book is engaging and full of sexual tension and power. The way the author plays with the names Nick/Tiger is really good. There are many moments full of mystery and aghast. The sexy times are amazing and the dialogs smart and witty. Nick is an acquired taste. It’s a definitely ruthless and intense. Almost obsess. Faith (great choice of a name, because this story is all about trust and faith) is lovely, resilient and strong. They both have too many secrets. And ghosts.
The writing is flawless and deep. I couldn’t stop reading.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

💋
Very enjoyable and kept my attention throughout.
Great characters with lots of chemistry, Nick and Faith were perfect.
It’s a suspense that has you on the edge of your seat one minute and trying to solve the twists the next.
It’s a decent length too over 500 pages, which is a great length to really get your teeth into.
I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review
White Lies is a repackaged release of the duet Provocative and Shameless. The books aged fairly well, with the exception of some dates thrown in briefly, but otherwise could have taken place current days.
You will be kept guessing and wondering how things are going to shake out until close to the end. Nick is searching for answers and keeping too many secrets. Faith is trying to find her path and coping with loss and guilt. They are not looking for a happily ever after, in fact neither wants to define what they become. And when secrets are exposed everything Nick was trying to protect comes crashing down and time has run out.
White Lies by Lisa Renee Jones is the two book box set of the White Lies Duet. This box set covers the story of Faith Winter and Nick Rogers 'Tiger'. Nick got his nickname 'Tiger' for being a cut throat who rips your throat out. So no one stands in his way. He is a total Alpha Male too! Nick goes forward to meet her to so that he can get a better understanding of her. When Nick arrives at the Winery he sees that Faith is being confronted by two men. Nick confronts them and turns the two men away. Faith tries to walk away from him but he goes forward to talk to her. What Nick wasn't prepared for is to be so attracted to her.
