Two books in one make for a thrilling romantic suspense. White Lies is provocative and mysterious keeping readers on their toes.

Faith Winters is a talented artist who is also the owner of her family's winery. She lost both of her parents and is determined to make the winery a success. She is supposed to focus on work and her art but then in walks Nick Rogers. He is a prominent attorney known for his arrogance and cutthroat approach. He introduces himself at a party and it may seem like a lucky day to meet since they share instant chemistry but he has ulterior motives. He believes that she hurt his family and wants to find out firsthand if his theory is true.

Nick and Faith are both surprised when they can't help but feel attraction. For their own reasons, they really don't do relationships but Nick is making the first moves to solidify their relationship. How can they possibly feel so much for each other in such a short amount of time? That's the question that they keep asking but have no real answer for. These new feelings force Nick to switch approaches. Instead of trying to find out Faith is guilty he is trying to prove her innocence.

There are so many secrets in their private and professional lives that add the right amount of suspense. It kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to see how everything played out. I know some readers who feel iffy when it comes to insta-lust books and I'll be honest it does take a bit to get into their relationship but by the end, it pays off.

I give White Lies 4 stars. It's seductive, provocative, and suspenseful. An all-around intriguing read. Readers get a deal with these two books in one!

Although this book was a little insta-lust for me but despite that I find myself really pulled into it too with the recurrent theme of suspense and romance. I utterly loved it.

I have read many of Lisa Renee Jones' books and love her sexy suspenseful stories. I love that past characters were included in the story and that I can see possible future books with some of the side characters. I felt invested in Nick and Faith's push and pull dynamic and the backstory of their families. I did not realize that this was actually a duet of books. Overall, the story was enthralling and well paced. I sort of wish some of the secrets that Nick and Faith kept from each other were also kept from the reader as well. The only big problem I had with the story was I felt like the end was rushed and concluded too quickly after a lot of build up. I will continue to read Jones books for her sexy flawed characters.

Nick and Faith have an immediate attraction that simmers and boils. They are brought together by family past actions and work together, somewhat, in trying to uncover the truth.

Absorbing, sexy, with the suspenseful edge we love from jones.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jones is a raw and passionate writer that knows how to capture your deepest emotions. Her stories are fresh; loaded with testosterone and power along with strong women that crave it and can withstand it too.
Absorbing, steaming hot, and sexy, with the suspenseful edge we love from Jones, White Lies is a two-part story combined into one book so you don’t have to wait! The story is creative and unique. Nick is loaded with not only cash but stamina and love for Faith. When these two come together, it is fire.
With enough suspense and a dash of mystery to keep the interest, White Lies proves to be an addictive read that was tough to put down. Nick is definitely a top favorite of mine!
So why only 4 Stars? Faith did bug me several times and some repetition in conversations due to her exhaustive lack of trust.
Learning to trust can be a very uphill battle!
Overall a great book. Nick and Faith have instant chemistry, but there are also lots of secrets and issues to overcome. Took me a few chapters to get into the story, but so glad I continued reading. Loved it.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
“Nice guys don’t win”
“The kind of attraction that’s unforgiving in its demands. The kind of attraction that’s all consuming”
Wow just wow !!!
This book was good!!! I liked it!!!
It was a bit slow paced during some scenes but others felt like it was running like wind !!! Wow
The plot was so good and the relationship between Nick and Faith was good, although complicated !!
But we like complicated !!!
The spice was amazing and honestly I really appreciated the frequency !!!!
The trauma they both had in their past, only for different reasons and the issue she has to face in order to trust someone again where a good story line to follow, especially considering the lengths he goes through to make it happen with him!!!!
The sweet part where probably unexpected but very good and I enjoyed reading it!!
And the words this man can come up with !!!! His mouth is sin !!!!!!
Some side characters were more then interesting and of course others were just terrible … if you read the book you know what I mean !!!!
Overall I’m glad I had the chance to read it and thank you to everyone who made this possible !!!
“The arrogant bastard who’s going to fuck you better than you’ve ever been fucked, sweetheart”
“I’m okay with being second to your art”
I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
Nick meets Faith and is instantly attracted. She pulls him in a way he has never been pulled before. Things heat up pretty quickly but Faith has no idea the true reason Nick came into her circle of Art friends.
As Nick helps Faith dig into her problems with her newly acquired winery, their lives may be threatened in the process. Can they figure out who is behind the winery issues before something happens to them?
I love this author and would definitely recommend this book to others. Great steamy romantic suspense.
I liked the suspense of this novel so so much. It made me bite my nails with worry.
Overall I liked the characters themselves but I didn't like how it seemed to be a struggle of submission. I see this so often in books regarding sex and I find it to be very distasteful. I know it's fiction, and some people like the struggle of control, but I personally don't! It's not something I enjoy reading about. I like a heroine with a backbone, but I also like when those heroines trust the heroes enough to submit to them fully. I don't like when the submission seems forced or coerced onto a heroine who isn't actually submissive. I will try to explain it better. You can be a submissive person with a dominant personality. You can enforce boundaries and maintain control even in submission. Its about finding someone to submit to. Building a relationship based on trust and mutual respect.
This sounds sort of off-topic since the whole point of the book was about how they couldn't trust each other because of their secrets. But I don't know, sometimes I have a hard time reading books where the hero tries too hard to assert dominance over someone who isn't submissive. There are SO many books that try to incorporate elements of D/s like this (fifty shades for example) and I don't think it accurately portrays how a D/s actually works. I am a naturally submissive person who can have a pretty dominant personality, meaning that for the right person I will gladly give them control. But if someone tries to force me to submit when I don't fully know them or trust them, it isn't something I find attractive at all and in fact, it gives me the creeps. Maybe I am being to realistic about this, but everyone's kinks/tastes are different so I just thought I'd share mine.
Miss Jones is a great author and I love her writing style. She knows how to keep your attention, she leads you from the beginning of the story till the end. This duet was intense, the main characters were ok and I liked the story,
While I read these books when they first came out, these books are must re-read for me as they were some of the first books I had read by the wonderful writer, Lisa Rene Jones. As it was the first time, I was taken in by the words Ms. Jones wrote the story of Nick and Faith. Provocative is certainly the best title for book one. Nick fits the title well being at times infuriating, provoking, and maddening. More is revealed as we go into Shameless and it definitely has some twists and turns. White Lies has it all, suspense, danger, surprises, and most of all a romance for all times.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Sadly, I wanted to like this as the premise looked great. But it was a DNF for me. The beginning was not plausible and seemed forced. I did not like any of the characters and had to put it down. Thank you for the opportunity to read this!
3.5/5
this is my first book by this writer, and i have to say i was surprised in a good way. its so rare to find a book in this genre and theme that’s well written and isn’t focused entirely on the sex scenes.
i loved the characters, faith was cold and jaded while nick is the opposite although he’s bit calculating he’s the one that’s passionate and desperate for love although i have to admit for a lawyer he’s a bit stupid when it comes to some obvious things.
my only complaint being the long drawn out inner monologues…they were wayy too long i didn’t mind them at first but it got to the point where im skimming so that the characters would get to the point.
all in all its a short and a good read but i wouldn’t recommend to read it if you’re in a slump.
After receiving this ARC, I was surprised to find this book already in my Read shelf on Goodreads with DNF tag, under a different name. I decided to give it a second try though. Unfortunately it didn't work this time either for me.
2 stars
Lisa Jones brings us another mind gripping thriller that will have you on edge from start to finish. It's a story that'll grab your attention, have your mind reeling the entire time.
The plot is tight, the characters on point, and the ending totally surprising. I was on the edge of my seat for most of the book. If you are a fan of nail-biting thrillers, this one is for you.
Jones is quite the storyteller.
WHITE LIES by Lisa Renee Jones was amazing and I can't wait to read more of her books!
I read The Poet in 2020 and loved it! If you haven't tried it out yet.... You should!
GREAT book. Edgy, suspenseful, and action that leaps off the page. Nick and Faith have broken pasts, electric chemistry, and the plot of how they learn to trust each other is a page turner. I couldn't put this one down!
