An in-depth and interesting deep dive into salt. This is so much more than a cookbook. The photographs are amazing. There is so much information in here and is presented in an approachable and storytelling style. A great book for the food enthusiast on your list.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. Interesting book but not many recipes I think I would use.

The Miracle of Salt a beautiful and informative cookbook. I love all the short pieces about different salt producing areas and her experiences visiting them. It makes the book feel really personal and enjoyable to read. I am a vegetarian so there aren't a lot of recipes for me to try but the dessert recipes look so good and I'm very excited to try making those since I am a big believer in salt in sweet. Thanks to Annie Mazes at Workman Publishing and Booklist from the What's Cooking Webinar for the ARC!

I truly hope there is some truth to reincarnation because there is so much in this world to learn, more than I can fit into this lifetime This book has inspired me to learn about flavoring, preserving, and cooking with all the different types of salt there are on this planet. Look beyond the supermarket.

The Miracle of Salt could have used a slightly tighter focus. I haven't had a chance to test the recipes, but 'salt' is such a universal aspect of cooking that it doesn't work very well as an organizational premise. The result comes across as a rather random assortment of recipes interspersed with travelogue vignettes on various salt harvesting locations. It's fine, I suppose, but gives the reader the impression that the author was either trying to capitalize on the success of Salt Fat Acid Heat or write off her travel expenses, rather than having anything new or important to say on the topic.

This is a well written book with appealing and illustrative photographs. The information is very specific and wonderfully detailed for those who want to know all about salt. And I do mean *all* about salt. Want to make your own flavored salt? The info is here! Want recipes using special salts as a major flavor--there's plenty.
