Did not finish. Couldn't get through it. I was disappointed because I absolutely ate the first one up.

I loved the Spanish Love Deception and was so excited for this sequel, but I just couldn't get into this story. I would recommend Elena Armas to adult romance readers.

The American Roommate Experiment by Elena Armas is a fun and charming read that keeps you hooked from start to finish. The chemistry between the main characters is electric, and their journey from roommates to something more is both hilarious and heartwarming. It’s the perfect book to curl up with when you need a feel-good story. Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC!

The American Roommate Experiment is an adorable follow-up to the Spanish Love Deception. I enjoyed the packing and character development. I felt like the story was a warm cup of tea on a cold day. It was easy and comfortable.

The thing is… this is a slowburn like Spanish Love Deception. At first, I thought it would bore me out of my mind. However, Lucas made me enjoy the book more and more?? Like the dates, the remarks he makes, the Spanish words/phrases he uses, and also the fact that he knows EXACTLY what he’s doing JSHGDJHSDG sorry but yeah. This quote just describes the whole truth at this point:

“You like it when I speak in Spanish to you.” Yes. Obviously.

Rosie made me feel embarrassment on so many levels at the start but later on, she grew on me. Probably the only thing that bothered me about her storyline is that she quit her stable job for a romance novel. I mean… the idea looked a bit forced to me? Anyways, I don’t really know at this point.

Also, I realized how much I missed Catalina and Aaron… I didn’t expect them to appear in the book this much but I’M DEFINITELY NOT COMPLAINING. Rosie and Lina made my heart swell. Loved Lucas and Aaron’s relationship and their scenes together.

Okay I enjoyed this book more than I should and I’m glad.

“Remember to pick the boy that will plant a garden for you instead of just getting you the flowers, Bean.” (wanted to add this quote because it’s beautiful 😭)

As much as I loved this book, I feel some scenes would not be appropriate enough for me to present it to the board in order to be bought for all districts high school libraries. The story is about how Rosie ends up at her best friends apartment at the same time as her best friends cousin, Lucas, stays there too. They both learn how to live with each other an eventually end up together.

These are most definitely slow burn romances, does that make me want to stop reading Elena Armas? No. I would like the pace to move a little quicker but I generally think these are well written. Thanks to netgalley and publisher for the advanced copy

HOT HOT HOT. Wow, I'm a sucker for convenient roommates. The connection these two characters have and how they care for one another is so special.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were easy to root for and the concept of sharing an apartment with your crush was enjoyable to read about.

This was an incredible sequel !

Dual point of view is my favorite way to read rom-coms because it gives insight into both characters.

Their accidental meeting and forced proximity made me devour this story quickly.

Lucas was the perfect MMC in my opinion.

When Taco makes an appearance I DIED!

Not as solid as her first book, but still an endearing read. Rosie is a bit too insecure for me and the whole "I obsessed over him before I knew him" trope is kind of weird, but its fine, I guess. I felt like Lucas was not as into her as she was into him, and I hate that.

Unfortunately, I did not have time to read this before. My time was up. I had too many in my TBR shelf, but it was a cute start of boy meets girl.

When Rosie Graham quits her job to work on her romance novels, she wasn't expecting to get writer's block or have the ceiling of her apartment fall in on her. She uses the spare key she has to her best friend's apartment and heads over while Lina is out of town. She doesn't know that Lina's cousin, Lucas, has already been lent the apartment while he is in town. Lucas has been the object of Rosie's online stalking for months, so she is shocked and nervous to stay there with him. Eventually, Lucas convinces her to go on dates with him that are meant to jumpstart her romantic inspiration.

I didn't care for this rom-com, and it felt to me as though the story were a part of a series that I was supposed to have already read. It seemed like there was background knowledge that I was missing and it was pretty off-putting during my read-through.

I was disappointed after her first book. I was really expecting something better but this left me wanting: it was too slow and the characters were just ok. Her first book was definitely the star.

I received this novel as an advanced reader copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. It followed the roommates to lovers trope and was a perfect quick read. Elena Armas is a fabulous romance. Writer and I have enjoyed all of her books. The chemistry between her main characters is superb..

Elena Armas is an absolute treasure! I am so glad I found her romances. They are sweet and hot in equal measures, and the characters struggle in ways that are both realistic and right for the story. Love love love this one in particular!

I was not a huge fan of The Spanish Live Deception, but wanted to give this one a try.

Ehhh, it was just okay. I did not like the misocommunciation trope. I got so frustrated at the characters!
