I was hesitant going into this having DNF'd the first book. This one though, it gripped me from the start and I couldn't put it down.

Elena Armas is the author of one of my favorite romantic comedies, "The Spanish Love Deception." So when I saw that she had a new book out, I was so excited to request "The American Roommate Experiment"! It continues in the same world as Armas'' previous book, so it was fun to see some previously loved characters. In this newest book, Rosie Graham is having a rough time: her career as an author has slowed down, her love life is non-existent, and the ceiling of her apartment has caved in. Since her best friend is out of town on her honeymoon, she moves into her friend's apartment. But little does she know that her friend's hot cousin is in the States and is already staying there. A friendship quickly forms, and just as quickly, sparks fly. The relationship between Rosie and Lucas is fun, charming, and full of chemistry.
I really enjoyed this book! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

This book was just adorable. Rosie and Lucas’s relationship is actual goals.
This book fixed the issues I had with The Spanish Live Deception and officially made Elena Armas an automatic read for me!
I loved Rosie’s conflict with trying to write a second book after having her only other book become so popular, like Elena Armas. It made me connect with the character even more than I probably would have otherwise.
I think this book was so also pretty realistic, which I couldn’t say about the first book. Their romance was so believable.
Also, you can never go wrong with dual POV.

Steamy! This new author knows how to make you blush and the pages sizzle! While the plot is predictable as a romance, it still keeps the reader turning the pages.

Elena Armas is now on my list of must follow authors. She creates my favorite kind of read, a binge worthy slow burn romance that has just enough spice. I love the addition of Lucas’ Spanish language, I read all of his words in what I imagined his accent sounded like. I found myself Google translating some of his quotes and I felt it gave me an insight into his feelings for Ro.

h. My. God. (Not God… Lucas 🤣). More quotes to come upon publication, but Elena Armas’s second novel is amazing. While it started off slow and I initially hated how often Lucas used Rosie’s name at the end of his questions/statements, I eventually found myself reading his lines in a Spanish accent and, by then, was in love with the story. I can’t wait for this book to hit bookshelves. It’s going to be an even bigger hit than The Spanish Love Deception, and I’m so grateful for Netgalley and the publishers sending me an ARC.

I first read THE SPANISH LOVE DECEPTION last month and loved Lina and Aaron's story, so I couldn't believe my luck when NetGalley granted me access to an eARC.
Elena Armas's follow-up does not disappoint. Rosie and Lucas have a fantastic meet-cute. And spoiler alert: some familiar faces appear, but you will be so invested in Rosie and Lucas's story that you (surprisingly) won't care that much. I think the pacing of Lucas's character development could have been a bit better, but I suppose it's what makes the ending come together (and it's a great ending!). And, overall, Rosie and Lucas's relationship did feel a little instalove-ish. That being said, the trope is implemented well.
Despite its minor flaws (and really it's a matter of opinion), THE AMERICAN ROOMMATE EXPERIMENT is still well worth the read. This definitely guarantees that I will pick up any additional works that Armas publishes. Can't wait!

This was a great follow up to The Spanish Love Deception. While that book did a great job of the enemies to lovers trope, this one takes on roommates/friends to lovers. The chemistry between Rosie and Lucas is fantastic. Both of them sees that the other is used to being strong and managing things for everyone else, and each of them wants to offer comfort and support to the other. While both are keeping secrets from their families, they are able to be honest with each other. It’s delightful watching them encourage and care for each other. And as their friendship grows, so does the attraction! A fabulous read!

This book is amazing! I had butterflies in my stomach throughout the whole book! Each and every scene perfectly written. I could not put this book down and read it in 24 hours. I quickly became attached to all the characters. Their love story was just what I needed to escape the real world! Thank you!

In my opinion, this is a huge improvement from the first book. Something about their slow-burn friends-to-lovers hit different in a way I really enjoyed. It did have the traditional "internal conflict leads to the couple splitting up" moment, but it didn't drag for too long.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!
This is a great book that adds more to the world of The Spanish Love Deception. I loved Rosie from the first book and am so glad to have her story. Lucas is charming, confident, and sweet. Both of their lives are a bit of a mess throughout the book, making them the perfect match. I especially loved having an appearance by our lovebirds, Aaron and Catalina. I loved that this book was dual perspective! Though, I'll admit that it made me a little sad that The Spanish Love Deception was not.

Close proximity as roommates is a favorite trope of mine. Very fun read as expected from Elena Armas. Thoroughly enjoyed and will be recommending
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. The opinions expressed are my own.

My heart! This was so beautifully angsty and slow burning. I love Lucas and I love Rosie. This was a perfect follow up. I hope that Olly gets his own story now because I am hooked!

I did NOT think it was possible to like this book more than the author's first book, "The Spanish Love Deception."
Spoiler alert, I WAS WRONG. I actually love these characters and this book more, and that's saying quite a lot because I really enjoyed the other book. Lucas and Rosie are pure sweet sugary fluff with so much encouragement, acceptance, and support in their relationship that I almost couldn't handle it.
And their first meeting? Oh my gosh it made me laugh. I hope to read more by this author, Elena Armas, you are truly talented!

3.75 stars!
this book was so cute! friends to lovers, slow burn, forced proximity (roommates), pining, and fake dating (ish)
lucas is so slay and honestly so is rosie ; i also loved seeing lina and aaron in this book !!
i dont want to spoil it, but i enjoyed this book, however, it isn't going to leave a lasting impact on me. very fun time though!

Great follow-up. Slow burn romance that keep your interested. Not the strongest ending, but the tension in the buildup is fantastic.

Its been awhile since I stayed up all night to read a book, but Elena Armas broke my streak. The American Roommate Experience was the perfect rom com, and I absolutely swooned over Rosie and Lucas. Rosie, our adorable protagonist, is having some problems – her apartment ceiling has collapsed, she is trying to finish a book, and is keeping secrets from her family regarding her career. When she tries to escape to her best friend’s NYC apartment, she is met with the best friend’s cousin – Lucas. We all know where this goes from here, but let me tell you, I was here for it. Lucas was just pure sunshine, and Rosie, I just loved her journey to self-validation.
I love a good dual point of view, and it was absolutely emotional, adorable, and heartwarming. It was also very spicy. If you’ve read Armas before, you’ll know what to expect.
Thanks to NetGalley and Atria books for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. This one comes out September 6.

Even though I didn't like the first book that I read by this author I wanted to give her enough chance to see if it was just the book. After reading this one I know that it's the author's writing style just doesn't mesh with me. But that's okay there's a reader for every author and a book for every reader.

I wished for RosieLucas book from the moment I read in TSLD about Rosie's crush on Lucas and even before Elena has announced TARE. This book had not disappointed me in anyway. RosieLucas are two Individuals who always bottle up things and wouldn't share so that they don't trouble others. They have their own Insecurities and Demons behind their easy smiles.
From RosieLucas first moment to the end they have captured me. Their easy conversations, smiles, trust on each other was so beautiful to witness. They've a kind of comfort between them which makes you wish for that for in your relationship. The last few chapters made me tear up and wish to hug both of them. They deserve every happiness in this world.
Lina and Rosie friendship is another highlight for this book and I had fallen in love more with Lina in TARE. I can't wait to readmore of Elena works in the future.

This book was so absolutely incredible. I just adored so much about it. I read the Spanish Love Deception and fell in love with that book. This one was even better. I laughed, cried, and was just happy all around. Although, the airport scene wrecked me. I really hope Elena Armas continues to write books. I could devour everything she puts out.
