I didn't know before reading this one that it was a sequel. It can be read as a standalone but I do wish I read the first one before. I loved the characters and the chemistry they had. I do think this one was a bit long but overall, it was really enjoyable. I can't wait to read more from this author!

A fun, flirty romance about two strangers who end up sharing an apartment and help each other start new phrases in their lives. Set in New York City.

Elena Armas can do no wrong. What a lovely, swoony romance. Rosie was everything I wanted and more from a lead, and Lucas was the perfect hero.

This book was too cheesy for my taste. It took a while to get going, but I mean who could have seen this going the way it did. Way too predictable with pretending to date for a “book” and having to leave the country with the promise of not falling in love. However I was still able to finish it because I didn’t want to DNF.

I loved this as the second in the series, and appreciated the great banter and story telling and character development, looking forward to the next one

I wanted to love this because I did enjoy her first book but this was one that I was having trouble finishing.I did not feel the chemistry and felt the storyline felt forced

Hmm, I thought this was better than Armas' first book and it kept me reading, but it still didn't work for me.

After Rosie quits her job to focus on her new career as a romance novelist, things begin to fall apart...she has writer's block and then her ceiling caves in. She escapes to her best friend's apartment, but has to share the tight space with a roomie, her best friend's visiting cousin. This book had a grab bag of tropes, including tight living quarters, instant attraction, forbidden love, friends to lovers, and on and on. I realize that not every book needs to be inventive and clever, but this just felt a bit too formulaic for me. It seems to be another hit for Armas, though, so I guess that I'm an outlier.

Thanks to the author, Atria Books, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an e-galley.

Thank you Netgalley for the e-ARC of this title. I enjoyed reading this title. Would recommend for my library.

DNF after a couple chapters. Not the biggest fan of the storytelling. Writing could be better. Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Lucas and Rosie are forced to live together and really what more could you ask for. Forced proximity is always a good thing. But it was soooo slow. I wanted/ needed more in the beginning to get me hooked and that just did not happen.

I wish I had given this a chance sooner. I didn't care for The Spanish Love Deception very much and let that cloud my judgement of The American Roommate Experiment. I loved every slow burn moment of Rosie and Lucas's story. 10/10 would read again. I just wish I had picked it up when I first had the chance.

Elena Armas is such a dynamic writer, this story is a lovely follow up to the Spanish Love Deception!

I loved this book so much! It was the perfect romantic read to get me out of my reading slump! The male main character is the perfect cinnamon role love interest and made me swoon on more than one occasion.

I also am a sucker for romance books about romance authors so I was sold right off the bat. Elena does an excellent job of providing you with relatable characters, swoon worthy moments, and spice!

Also there is a pup! And an expert thirst level Instagram stalking!

Just read this book!

Armas did it again! This was such a a fun read. I enjoyed seeing the evolution between Lucas and Rosie. It was also fun seeing how their family was so involved as well. As a Hispanic, it is awesome seeing more books as mirrors.

Honestly, I enjoy this author and Spanish love deception despite its slow pace. This book, however, did not give the same vibe, nor did I enjoy reading it, It's slow and took a million years to get to the point. I like her writing style but this book was definitely a miss for me. That being said it wasn't a terrible book so I would recommend it to those that may enjoy it.

I think the characters in this are significantly more likeable than the Spanish Love Deception, but I could use 150 less pages and a better pacing throughout

Such a cute premise. Not for students however with a few steamy scenes. I really liked our leading lady in this one and thought the pair had fun chemistry.

I found the slow burn incredibly dragged out, but the characters were a joy to read and I enjoyed the moments that were truly sweet and built the relationship moments we pick up an Elena Armas book for in the first place. However, the constant interruptions and subplots that took over the tension development was a bit much. I would love for the pacing to have been a bit tighter, but still loved Rosie and Lucas energy!

This was even better than the Spanish love deception in my opinion. I am so mad at myself for letting it sit on the shelf as long as I did. I loved Rosie and Lucas (and Taco!) so much and I loved that it was spicier than SLD was. It is a slow burn, but it makes the ultimate get together that much better.

I really loved this one! I was on the fence with Spanish Love Deception, interested enough to check out the second book, but I didn’t love it. Rosie and Lucas though are awesome! Loads of chemistry and banter. Highly recommend to the romance reader.
