I loved this book. I read this book out of publication order of her other release, but I loved that the characters from her first book play a part in this book too- you don't have to read in order. I loved Rosie, her jump into a new writing career and even the discussion of fearing the judgement of those we love most if we pursue our dreams instead of the safe path. The experiment, heart melting and so fun!
I am one of those romance readers that typically loves the scowling, grumpy main male love interest but this book restored and rekindled my love for a cinnamon role, sunshine kind of man. Lucas was so nice, kind and really just fun to get to know.
I enjoyed their love story and can't wait to go back and read Spanish Love Deception

You know what's great? Reading a book with a great male lead who loves love and has his own insecurities. I've read enough books about the woman thinking she's not good enough for the man but Elena writes with such charm about an engineer-turned-romance writer who knows her value. If you're looking for a book about people who love love and you enjoy a good forced proximity story, this book is for you.

soo I honestly couldn’t get past the online stalking/obsession before meeting part. It was referenced so much that it made me uncomfortable. It was a slow burn romance which I loved. I think if it didn’t make it seem like she cyber stalked him hardcore I would’ve liked this. major sad face. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read in exchange for a review.

This was entertaining, but not as good as Spanish Love. I enjoyed the food descriptions, in the vein of Jasmine Guillroy. The wounded man doubting his self worth thing is always a little hard to swallow.

I loved this story much more than its predecessor! The number of times I actually squealed while reading this book... embarrassing. I adored it.

The American Roommate Experiment is a quirky, fun, fast-paced read. When two people find themselves having to share the same studio apartment while the owner is away on her honeymoon. Neither character is prepared to have this coming together fall into their laps. With a super endearing and funny meet-cute, both characters now face time together in a vast city but a small space. And they use both spaces to explore this new direction of their lives.

This was a captivating forced proximity romance, featuring two enjoyable characters. There are certain aspects that are missed, if the reader hasn't read the first in the series, but they aren't integral to the story, so it would technically count as a standalone.

Spanish Love Deception was a super fun romcom, and let's just get this straight from the start - The American Roommate is even better. I absolutely adore dual narrators in a romance & this one is so much fun. Proximity and secret crushes and "practice" dating - there are some hilarious scenes that will bring a smile to your face for sure. While a reader doesn't have to read Spanish Love Deception first to enjoy this one, I definitely recommend doing so as some of the character development will make more sense if you read them in order.

I have similar feeling about “The American Roommate Experiment” by Elena Armas as I did “The Spanish Love Deception.” There was a lot of build up but I couldn’t connect with the characters. I feel that this is completely a personal option as many people love both books. There were parts that I enjoyed but would rate the TARE 3/5 stars. It was a fine, fluffy read but I didn’t find myself reaching to pickup the book.

Thank you NetGalley and Atria Books for my advanced digital arc in exchange for my honest review.

This was an enjoyable, light rom-com about friend becoming lovers. Although I really enjoyed this book, I thought there was unnecessary smut that didn't add to the story. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.

I couldn't really get past the whole premise of this book, it really made no sense. I could maybe look past that but the rest of it didn't get much better. It was just trope after trope after trope. Also, they live together but the steamiest scene is in a dressing room? Meh.

The American Roommate Experiment isn't particularly memorable. If a reader is looking for cute and lighthearted vibes, this could be an option, but don't expect much depth in the story line or characters.

I didn't enjoy Spanish Love Deception and I was hoping this one would change my mind about Elena Armas, but it just did not. A cute, quick read but absolutely nothing stood out. I forgot most of the details as soon a I finished reading it.

Meh. I don't know why I requested this one. I didn't enjoy the Spanish Love Deception, and when I was granted it, I basically just finished because I was given an advanced reader's copy. It was fluff to the nth degree. It would be a good beach read if you are not me and haven't read almost every romance book ever published. If you just read something heavy, this book would be a nice reprieve for you.

Thank you so much to #netgalley and #atriabooks for this advanced reader's copy for an honest review.

Unfortunately, I don’t believe this book was for me. I like the first one, but there was something about this one that just seemed way too juvenile. The main characters were kind of annoying to me, at least and I think I should’ve just stopped with the Spanish love deception.

Elena Armas does it again! I must admit I was nervous to read The American Roomate Experiment due to just how much I loved The Spanish Love Deception.
I truly enjoyed The American Roomate Experiment and it was lovely to visit with some of my favorite characters from her previous book. Flirty, silly and lovely, The American Roomate Experiment has something for everyone to love.

This book was not great. Just like The Spanish Love Deception. Maybe a tiny bit better. Lucas also says Rosie's name every five seconds. They have no personality. Lucas is portrayed as the perfect guy but truly we don't really know anything about him execpt that he's really nice, can cook, looks pretty, has a dog, and struggles with his past. Sorry but I need more than that to fall for your main guy, you can't just tell me to adore him, you have to show me. And this didn't work.

I thought there could be nothing greater than Lina and Aaron. But Lucas and Rosie have me crying, laughing, cringing in the most adorable ways, and wishing I could read 200 more pages just focusing on them. I loved this book even more so than the first one.
If you want a romcom book that will make you feel all sorts of comfort, read this book. It’s exactly what it should be.

3.5-4 stars. Rosie Graham is Lina's best friend and coworker from The Spanish Love Deception. While Lina is away on her honeymoon, Rosie needs a place to crash because her apartment is falling apart and in the process of repair so she heads over to Lina's place. Only to discover that Lina's cousin Lucas is also staying there. It's rather awkward at first, the whole encounter between how they meet and then trying to figure out how to make this living arrangement work.

I knew this would be a slow burn, and it absolutely was. Like the slowest. While that usually doesn't deter me, their chemistry was a bit lackluster for me. Rosie and Lucas are rather likable individually. Rosie is trying to jumpstart her new career path and is hitting some roadblocks. Lucas is hiding from his life in Spain and figuring out how to start over. Rosie needs romantic inspiration and Lucas volunteers, not intending it to be anything more than to show Rosie that there are good men out there and so she can finish her project. But due to the roommate situation, lines get blurred and Rosie catches feelings first.

This is a long book. And while it was cute and all to see them slowly fall for each other and realize it later, particularly Lucas, it all felt lukewarm in general. The on-page steam is much less than the previous book, which actually worked out great because it would've been unfitting for these two if there had been more. While I was rooting for these two the whole time, this wasn't one of those books where I had a lot of emotion invested or felt much escape while reading.
