Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of Bad Girls Drink Blood by S. L. Choi in exchange for an honest review. Unfortunately O have to DNF this book. I have tried multiple times to read it and just couldn’t get on with the writing style. I was confused and bored at times and ultimately don’t think this is a book for me.
The premise and FMC were good. However the story fell flat for me. I found that it initially drew me in but the story just was meh. Loved her sisters and the action but nothing stood out.

DNF at 45%.
Try as I may, I couldn't get into this book. I love urban fantasy, but a lot of times whether a series is a hit or a miss for me resides solely with the characters. If I like them, I can even excuse the lack of plot or a repetitive plot that does nowhere from book to book. But I have to like the characters.
Unfortunately, it's not the case here. The protagonist has the attention span of a squirrel on crack and the emotional control of a monkey with ADHD high on sugar. It's painful to read, honestly.
The banter between the sisters is supposed to show their relaxed and loving relationship, but it only bogs down the narrative. I mean, they joke and banter about EVERYTHING and ALL THE TIME. I mean that's okay during normal day-to-day activities, but when it happens just as someone kills your main witness, it reads false. Why would I take what's happening seriously if none of the characters do?
There is no tension, no build-up, no stakes even, because of that incessant banter. I grew more and more irritated with the writing style as the book progressed. At 45%, I threw the towel. This series is simply not for me.
Also, not vibing with the protagonist's love interest at all.

This was a great read. It has everything you could want in an Urban Fantasy. A kick ass heroine with a tragic past, a colourful cast of characters, a unique mythology and the beginnings of a romance. This book hooked me from the very start.
The story just grips you with plenty of twists and turns. I highly recommend it to fans of Urban Fantasy and I can't wait to continue the series.

I really struggled to get into to this book. Hear me out. I don't often read YA, and this book is that, but the opening of this book is a struggle because the MC is struggling with some very real-life things, which I wasn't prepared for.
I did get into this book by about 60% though, and I think once the MC gets clued into more of the plot points, it does become endearing. It was tough watching her struggle with her identity and self esteem, but by the end you find yourself rooting for her to save the day.
If you liked the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich but wished it had more cursing, magic, and bloodlust, you'll really enjoy this one. If you hated the Morelli/Ranger plot line like I did, you'll REALLY like this one. Overall, it was fun and I may need to continue the series.
Thanks to #netgalley for providing me with an eArc in return for a fair review.
Did not finish. I found the writing cliched, choppy and ultimately unreadable.
This book was a nice blend of fantasy, action, and mystery with a little smut thrown in for good measure.
Lane is a no nonsense blood fae hybrid who has become a bit of an unofficial leader of the business she and her two other sisters run. As the “heavy hitter” of the bunch, this makes sense, but this trio definitely balance each other out. While they may not be the same variety of paranormal, they are a close knit bunch. During a failed business run, Lane ends up at the local paranormal bar to do some business and check on things when a simple decision ends up putting her on a bigger quest. Said quest involves lots of secrets shaking loose, Lane further discovering her skills (aka monster of monsters status), and a massive amount of damage.
I’d be hard pressed to categorize this book because while it is definitely not a romance at the center, it has some elements of that in the form of a sexy barkeep and one ornery blood fae. The action is almost the center stage act here because it was AMAZING, especially in the last act. I enjoyed meeting all the players and as book 1, I assume we will definitely revisit them. I felt like by the time I finally got the world built in my head, we had sadly reached the end. This book may have taken some time to get cooking, but when it did I couldn’t stop!
Action packed and adventurous book. The world building becomes hard to track after sometime but that is what makes this book interesting. The characters lane , her sister and all were good. A feast for the urban fantasy romance readers. The plot is on point. On the whole this would make a 'fantasy'-tic weekend read.

Full of fun, twists and curves. Enjoyed the sisters relationship and getting to know Lane. Looking forward to book 2.
2.75 stars rounded up to 3! Bad Girls Drink Blood was a fun read— it had a moving plot, interesting world, and quirky characters. The writing is a bit overdone, telling rather than showing and sharing a lot of extra detail proving the main character Lane, is a badass. She is definitely a force to be reckoned with— we just don’t need to be reminded quite so much. It took me a while to get into the book because of it. The romance element wasn’t really there for me either. Teddy was a typical alpha-type and there didn’t seem to be much to him to warrant such strong feelings from Lane besides his hotness. Perhaps he will be developed further in the next book? The style is reminiscent of Sarah J. Maas which I’m not a big of a fan of anymore, but this has potential to be more. Overall, enjoyable. I would read the sequel! I am intrigued by Duskmere especially, because there seems to be more to that story.
I liked the title of this book and the description drew me in but I had a hard time sinking into the story. There was a lot, A LOT going on in the first few chapters of this book. And it just kept going. I overall liked the book but there was so much happening on every page that it started to feel like a slog to get to the end.
Malaney "Lane" Callaghan escaped to the human world after years of being mocked for being a monster. Half sun fae and half blood fae, she belongs to neither world. Even worse, though she requires blood, she seems to be allergic to it (in the sense that she blacks out and becomes very violent.)
She didn't come to this world alone though, her two sisters traveled along with her. They are adopted but they form a true family. Including a family business working as private investigators. The book starts off with two cases, one of which involves a banshee cheating on her kelpie husband. But he is not the one who magics her into a pile of dust.
Suddenly, Lane and her sisters are thrust into a murky world where they are up against pure evil and magic more powerful than anything they've run into before. And not all of them are going to make it out whole.

I loved this story, couldn’t put it down. It wasn’t a cliffhanger. Can’t wait to read more books by SL Choi.
I requested this book on a whim as it's very far outside my regular genres. I wanted something fun, weird, irreverent, mysterious, and sexy.
Overall it hit the mark! I would say that although the sisters run a private eye company, there is no real mystery going on. Which is fine - it's still a thriller. There is violence upon violence, with random sarcastic cracks thrown in, and the main character hankering for cheesy poofs and her hunky love interest all the while.
I honestly was a little unclear on a lot of the action, maybe because of all the different kinds of magic, or maybe because I was speed reading. Also, there are only so many times a main character can ALMOST DIE before the tension is lost. And she almost dies very, very often.
Decent read. The world building was a little slow in the beginning, but once the story picked up, I didn't mind so much. Will probably continue with this series.
I enjoyed this book. I liked the characters and the story is interesting. #BadGirlsDrinkBlood #NetGalley
This was not what I expected, it is NOT a supernatural romance. This is not a problem, just something to note going in, romance is a subplot.
The main plot was cool and the writing was fun. I really liked Lane, Teddy, and other characters for the most part. Probably my biggest complaint was the repeating internal dialogue. Lane's self-doubt was endearing in the beginning but became annoying as we went along in the story. It felt like in every chapter there was a heavy emphasis on her guilt/insecurities. With another round of edits to maybe trim some of this, I think this book cool be really promising in the Supernatural book space!
Great Sci-fi with original world buildingbfun and intriguing characters withbfun and witty writing. I would love to read more in the future.

I really liked the blurb on this book, and was hopeful it wouldn’t turn into something else. Instead, I got a rollicking Vegas throw down with weres, druids, fae, and a well developed world to play in. Yes, there’s romance, yes, there’s royals- but there’s also a lovely conspiracy and a fight for survival with fallout looming, with a healthy dose of unanswered questions on how things came to be for our dear hybrid.
I think this one is definitely a good start to a new series and am wishing the next was announced.
This was such a good read that was well written with a utterly gripping storyline and well developed characters. The level of world building was also reall;y high and well done. I can't wait to read more from this series.

Bad Girls Drink Blood is the first book in the new Blood Fae Druid series by S.L. Choi. This fast paced adventure will keep you on the edge of your seat.
The author did a great job of creating a new world, that is filled with depth and history. The characters were fascinating and the story was engaging. I loved the private investigator aspect and following along on the adventure to recover the missing sun stones.
I look forward to reading the future books. I feel like there is so much more to uncover!
