I really enjoyed this. I’m not the greatest artist but I found this easy to follow. My son even drew some. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn how to draw!

How to Draw Adorable, was quite simply - adorable! It is a guide to creating 'cute' illustrations for beginners to those with more advanced skills. Each section is broken down into smaller chunks so that you don't feel like you are learning too many steps at a time. It also has space to be used as an actual workbook so you can complete your exercises in the book itself. The guide moves through basic design principals through to exploring the use of shapes and colour to create varied expressions and different characters. The illustrations throughout are a delight. I am not an artist by any means and I found the descriptions and tutorials for each section to be clear and accessible. I found myself following along and attempting some excercises on my ipad and I was pleased to see that I was actually making progress as I went on! The style and format would appeal particularly to a teen audience.

How to Draw Adorable is a hidden gem of a book. It is so much more than just drawing cute stuff. If you're interested in illustrating for example children's and kids books, this would be a great reference book. The amount of facial references, emotions and tips is amazing and the author knows her craft well.

I can highly recommend this to intermediate creatives and artists that are looking to give their illustrations and drawings more story and emotion as well as anybody who's looking to illustrate a book or a text.

Thank you Netgalley for providing me with a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is a nice book for beginning illustrators. I think it is geared towards teens and teens. It would be a fun addition to a public library.

Thank you to Netgalley and to the publisher for giving me this eARC to review.

This is probably one of the best art books I have read. The book gives examples of what is classed as cute, there were pages where one could write what makes them happy or unhappy for visual cues, and there were pages to practice patterns. This book was easy to follow and I recommend it to anyone liking or even just interested in this style.

An adorable guide that directs with simplicity and teaches how to make everything super duper cute. A great book for doodlers, teens, and novice artists. Great for comic artists and book illustrators. Includes practice pages to perfect the cuteness of any item, animal, and expression.

The illustrations in this book are so cute! I don't consider myself an artist but this book really helped me draw a little better. I recommend this book for those that are just starting to learn to draw the basics.

Thank you SO MUCH for providing me with an ARC for this wonderful book.

5 stars!

I love to draw and paint in my free time and have always loved doing it since a kid, then turned into an art student, but never sadly pursued futher.

I have been wanting to try and draw more cute things for a whilr and have struggled to do so.

This book not only broke down the process in a way that made it seem less daunting and focusing on making things more simple and cute than being too much, it was fun, engaging and had lots of helpful information and tips.

I love how pages to practice and try to draw your down ideas with the prompts, trying to draw shapes and lines, really gets the reader to try than just reading along like I have done with other books I have on drawing.

Fantastic book!

Cute drawings have often made me smile and I have often thought of drawing cute things myself. This book provides great tips and techniques on how to do just that! I love the side by side comparisons of how just a change of an eye here or an ear there could make all the difference in the world of cute. I can't wait to try out some of the tricks.

There are also lots of blank templates for you to draw right on the book if you wish.

I noticed that most of the examples here are of human figures, though there are a few animals and still life. But I think the principle applies whatever you draw.

5 stars for me. Really nice and useful book!

This was a cute book full of artistic encouragement and advice. FYI - it is NOT a step by step guide of how to draw adorable things. The author gives a lot of wonderful tips and tricks, but the book is mainly about finding ways to make ORIGINAL adorable art - not copying someone else's.
Thank you to NetGalley and Girl Friday Productions for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

How to Draw Adorable is a wonderful all-ages drawing guide with tutorials by Carlianne Tipsey. Due out 6th Sept 2022, it's 160 pages and will be available in paperback and ebook formats.

This is such a cute, accessible, and well formatted book. The subjects are wide ranging and anthropomorphic and character based. The instruction is for line drawn sketching and the subjects are all age appropriate and appealing. Scattered throughout are pages with drawing and thinking prompts for art such as: visual clues that make you happy, are pleasant to look at, and inspire feelings of love, or full page practice exercises such as drawing circles or lines, or bisecting squares and other shapes. All of the practice pages include short tutorials on how to use the spaces to best advantage.

There are also instruction pages which clearly show proportions and drawing guides for faces, figures, and detailing drawings. The language is very modern and youthful (the book is full of phrases like "all the feels" and "get your cute on").

There are tips and tricks for improving technique in highlighted color text boxes throughout the text. The emphasis is on short, digestible, understandable lessons in clear colorful text and illustrations. The practice pages are printed on dotted page layouts which will make a good tie-in for instructors who wish to encourage journaling and drawing practice for their students. This is a very simple and beginner accessible book.

Five stars. This would be a good selection for public or school library acquisition and home study. It would be a superlative gift, excellent classroom or library group selection for activity groups, a wonderful parent/caregiver activity, or even for babysitters and child-minders looking to up their activity time with their small charges. Artistic exploration allows children to improve fine motor skills and gives them a feeling of accomplishment and control.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

How to Draw Adorable by Carlianne Tipsey is a fun and informative book on how to draw "Cute". The pictures are as promised, but the best part of this book is that she explains what makes something adorable, going into proportions, shapes, colors, objects and spacing, as well as other elements which all contribute to the cuteness of a drawing.

Not coming from an art background, this book was very helpful to explain in a simple but interesting way what elements you need to incorporate to make a drawing cute. I would recommend that people buy the physical copy of the book as there are exercises to try (tracing shapes, coloring in objects to find a good color contrast, etc) that you can't do with an ebook unless you take a screen shot and print out a copy of those specific pages to use. There are quite a few practice time pages spread throughout the book so you can draw on your own to learn the concepts she is teaching you.

Hopefully I'll be able to practice and learn to draw!
