Rekindling a romance and some spy action together made this book an interesting one.
What I liked about this book was the whole spy plot and Richard sneaking around since it was definitely not in his normal nature. The overall friendship bonds between characters helped the book flow nicely as well.
The part I struggled with a bit was the distancing in the romance toward the beginning of the book. It drove me nuts reading about the length that Richard was going to in order to not be pulled in by Elizabeth's charms. I get a whole conflicted relationship, but it almost went a bit too far with the cold feeling and seemed to slow down the plot. I'm glad at least the inner desire and struggle was there.
This is a second book and could be read as a stand-alone, but I did like having some familiar characters take some major roles in this book too. I wonder what book three will be like since one and two were pretty different from eachother.
Thank you to Dragonblade and Netgalley for providing a copy of this ARC for my honest review.
