This was a disappointing read. I was expecting more excitement, especially with the running countdown toward the inevitable sinking of the Titanic. There were parts where I could feel suspense during the protagonists' painstakingly planned heist, but other moments that dragged. There were characters that were present for a time and then just kind of disappeared. What seemed to be the main objective wound up becoming lost, and the promised reward from the heist that was to set them all up for an easy life did nothing of the sort. As far as the title goes, the protagonists didn't stand a chance.

A Million To One is a YA sapphic novel by Abida Jaigirdar. Four unlikely friends come together for a heist and the biggest payout of their life: stealing a jewel-encrusted book from the Titanic. Josefa: the mastermind. Emilie: the artist. Hinnah: the acrobat. Violet: the actress. But what starts as a hesit quickly becomes a fight for their lives aboard a sinking ship.
First off, I listened to this as an automated voice galley with a synthetic voice. So my experiences might have been different reading the actual book. That being said, the "fake" voice didn't really bother me that much. I didn't really have an opinion on the narrator.
This novel wasn't the most amazing thing I've ever read and it also wasn't the worst. It was just completely in the middle for me and an okay use of ~3 hours of my time (listening at 3x speed). All in all, it was a little bit boring to me. I didn't get invested into the characters really, or the plot. The characters all blended together and half the time I couldn't tell who's POV it was. I don't think enough time was spent allowing the reader to really get to know each character.
The sapphic romance was cute and sweet, I suppose, but without an investment into the characters it felt very flat for me. Almost like I was watching two strangers fall in love.
The book did pick up towards the end which honestly made my final review of this book just average as opposed to less than.
I would love to recommend this to fans of hiest and ensemble books like Six of Crows, but I'm not sure I can. I think if you want a quick, sapphic romance with a sprinkle of danger then this books for you.
Thank you to Netgalley and Harper Audio for the voice galley of this novel. All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.

A Million to One is a young adult novel following four teenage girls pulling off a (fictional) heist aboard the Titanic. This plot and the beautiful cover were what pushed me to listed to the DIGITIZED (ugh) audiobook! Is is packed full of not only action and high stakes, but also unique, lovable characters. It also includes a sapphic romance! Overall I'd give this book 3.5/5 stars. It was fun and worth reading but I don't think I would pick it up again. I would have liked it more if the setting, which is so special and famous, would have felt more real.

I’ve been excited about this book since I first read about it on Twitter. It deserves so much hype! I’m a huge fan of Leverage and this felt very if Leverage pulled a heist off on the Titanic, with a bonus developing wlw pairing.
The four young women are amazing! Josefa is an accomplished thief who makes plans to steal a jewel encrusted book of poetry that’s being transported on the Titanic. Violet is an actress who often works with Josefa to supplement her income. She’s desperate to get enough money to support herself and her brother Marco, who’s about to age out of the orphanage he’d been abandoned to. Hinnah is an acrobat struggling to believe in herself. I loved discovering her backstory and her journey to becoming confident in herself. Emilie is an artist grieving the loss of her father. I loved this look at grief and how it affected Emilie and her artwork. I also loved the developing relationship between Josefa and Emilie. Adding in found family, a revenge plot, and a countdown to when the Titanic sinks made me wish I’d had the time to listen to it in one sitting! The ending was amazing, both sad and hopeful.
The audiobook I listened to was a computer generated narration, which meant that it was read without emphasis, so I’m really looking forward to listening to it again when it comes out with the actual narrator in December. I’ve already pre-ordered a copy and recommended it to my local library.
Thank you to the publishers and Netgalley for the advanced review copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily

Rating: 2.5
I don't know if it would have been any different if I didn't listen to a voicegalley instead of reading an e arc. But, I kept getting the characters all mixed up. They all felt the same to me, throughout most of the book. The plot felt kind of pointless and either nothing was happening or everything happened too quickly.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Atticus Creative Publishing for letting me listen to this E-audiobook in return for an honest review!
Unfortunately, this audiobook is a DNF due to the way I accessed it. I had high hopes— I’d listened to some other audiobooks, and nearly gotten through a full one! But the voice took me out and about a third of the way through the book, I realized I wasn’t comprehending anything.
I am still rating this five stars because I very much look forward to reading this once it comes out!

This book was so interesting. Everyone has heard of Rose and Jack on the Titanic. But these 4 women trying to pull off a heist on the Titanic made such a great story! Loved these women and how the storyline built up along the way! So gripping near the ending.
I received this book from the publishers and NetGalley to read and review. All statements above are my own opinions after fully reading this book.

Firstly I would like to thank Netgalley and Atticus Creative Publishing for sending me this E-audiobook in return for an honest review.
I actually dnfed the book, as I am someone that has a hard time engaging into audio books, especially as this is an arc the narrator of the book is automated, so I just couldn't finish. My review will be based on what I had read so far.
From what I had read in the book, one struggling point for me is that it jumps to much with narrative that it is a struggle to keep attention on the story and where the progress is going. I understand she was showing us each character, and I love a good historical fiction, but the narrative for me was a bit lacking. I think if there had been more focus for a bit on each narrative it would have caught my attention more. The dynamic of the characters and setting of the story I loved, and I really wish I had enjoyed the narrative more to keep going. I love any of the oceans movies, and so that caught my appeal when I first saw the synopsis of the book, but the point of the characters to me did not make some sense to me on exactly why they would choose that particular heist.

Adiba Jaigirdar is an author that I have grown to love and admire. It does not matter what her books are about, if I see that she is releasing a new one, I automatically trust that it is going to be great. HOWEVER, when I read that she was releasing a book about a heist on the Titanic AND that it included sapphics, I KNEW I just had to read it and that it was going to be great. AND IT WAS. Highly recommend.

This is intersting twist on Titanic. It is perfect for any YA mystery fan. It has twists and turns, but it is also heartbreaking.

A fast paced, addicting historical heist set aboard the Titanic. I adored each of our protagonists and felt my heart tightening as I rooted for their success, yet was all too aware of the imminent tragedy threatening their mission, which made for a tense reading experience in all the ways you'd expect from this kind of story. I didn't want to put this down!

Josefa, Emilie, Hinnah, and Violet all come together to pull off a heist with a big payout on board the Titanic. Josefa is the mastermind thief who brings them all together, Emilie the artist to help create maps and documents, Hinnah is an acrobat, and Violet is a grifter. Even though they're all virtually strangers, they work together to steal a prized and jeweled book of poems to sell for a high price and be able to achieve the lives they've been searching for.
If you're a fan of the show Leverage, I highly recommend this book for you. The story starts with pulling our begrudging team to work togetherm all the way through to the end where they realize they've found a family in each other.
I loved the way Emilie and Josefa's relationship developed over the course of the book. And I especially loved the relationships between all four girls, they all have had struggles in life and once they realize none of them have had an easy go of it, they develop closer and more protective bonds and the end had me in tears.
Listening to the audiobook without the designated narrator and the synthesized voice provided by NetGalley was a bizarre experience, but I liked it none the less.
Thank you to Net Galley for making this book available in exchange for an honest review!

K, the synthesized voice threw me off for a bit, but once I got passed that I enjoyed everything about this book. The author has never failed me before and I will continue to read everything she does. I loved this 4 women
