This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the first book in the K-9 Defenders series. I loved all the characters in this book, but my favorite was the little girl and Fuzz. The suspense and action does not come into play until the last part of this book, but I really loved it. I feel the first part of the book you really got to know the characters, and then the romance came into play. This was a great fun read with a lot of funny/fun moments, but there was some action too. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Carina Press) or author (Sandra Owens) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. This book is a winner! I loved the characters - Tristan is the perfect sexy police chief and Skye is the damsel not in distress sheriff. When a nightmare from Skye's past intrudes into her present, it's more than she can handle by herself. Fortunately, Fuzz, Tristan's police dog, is there to assist.

This book has it all - lovers pretending they're not, while both desperately wanting the other, a criminal conspiracy featuring a drug thug that looks like the boy next door, and imaginary delta force operators coming to the rescue. Fuzz is the police dog that adopted police chief and assists at every opportunity - frequently stealing the show.

If you enjoy fast paced romantic suspense, you will love this book. Put this one at the top of your TBR list. The author is on my must read authors' list.
