In Stuck With Him, we meet Lucy - her business has fallen apart, her best friend isn’t too happy with her, and her childhood home is up for sale but just out of her reach. So when Zack, her incredibly annoying yoga teacher, suggests they buy it together, Lucy makes a jump and all kinds of chaos ensue…
If you love a slow burn enemies-to-lovers read, Stuck With Him will tick all your boxes - I genuinely wasn’t sure if Lucy and Zack would make their unusual house situation work, and I was definitely with Lucy in her hatred at the early stages of the book!
I love to be surprised when a romance novel goes a little deeper than I expected, and Stuck with Him also definitely gave me that - Lucy’s dedication to her job, and other people’s manipulation of that - really stood out to me as a plot line (and I related to it a lot…)
This was another read that is a great one for summer and I really recommend picking up for your next holiday!

Lucy a workaholic with impossibly high standards for herself finds Zach, her new yoga instructor to be insufferable and far too laid back. to make things worse when she goes to put an offer on her childhood home he has also put an offer in, but she is determined to get the house for herself. However Zach had a different idea, they purchase the house together, and with the plan to drive him out lucy hesitantly agrees.
Although at the beginning I found lucy to be an annoying character, as the book went on I came to like her and how determined she is in all that she does. I loved Zach and how relaxed and down-to-earth he was. The slow-burn romance was perfection (although I wish we got to see more of it) and there were parts that had me laughing out loud.
read if you love
- enemies to lovers
- forced proximity
- slow burn romance
Stuck With Him by Danielle Owen-Jones is a story of a success hungry women trying to find her way through the trials of business, friendship and relationships. I loved the premise of the story, Lucy working towards a goal of buying her childhood home was so endearing and heartwarming but unfortunately I had a hard time connecting with the story in other ways. I found Lucy to be very prickly and too inflexible. While this was notably how her character was supposed to be, she was just too much this way and it rubbed me the wrong way. Her nemesis turned love interest Zack was very hippy and her polar opposite. Their distaste for each other made sense and was written in a way of understanding but then it was an instant turn around to attraction and romance. I didn’t feel any lead up or reasoning. I fee there could have been so much more done with this story but it fell flat for me unfortunately.
This is a very well written book. With a slow building love story in it. Fate has a way of bringing people into your life and this book portrayed that really well. The characters are really great too and the storyline is fun and engaging.
Well, this was absolutely, positively delightful ☺️!
The premise of two strangers - who in every way are oil and water - who, by kismet, keep physically ending up together (yoga sessions, sharing a home) was pretty fun. Not at all your typical enemies-to-lovers trope; more like annoying and aggravating strangers-to friends-to lovers (much slower burn) trope.
I really enjoyed Lucy: hard working, tenacious, strong, independent. Zack was an interesting foil for Lucy. I really loved the bond between Lucy and Dotty. I also appreciated that 8 Falkner Avenue was its own character - a space that Lucy in the past, present, and future could call home. Filled with a lifetime of loving memories, it gave Lucy the feeling of security she needed. I did not like Katie one bit - she was so needy, whiny, and spoiled, but she didn't take away from the story.
All-in-all, this was such a solid 4 stars in my book! Absolutely adorable!!! 💖💖
Interior designer Lucy is a workaholic, and it ends up costing her when she takes her job to a wedding stagette, ruining the night for everyone. To make amends, Lucy gets drunk and sends out a group email with demeaning comments to all her high-end clients and loses her business, as well.
As if that’s not enough, her family home goes on the market, and she can’t afford to buy it back. Until a sexy, sarcastic yoga instructor offers to share the mortgage and hijinks ensues!
This is a fun enemy-to-lovers romance with plenty of witty repartee, a hunky hero, and a sassy heroine. My only critique is the slow start to the story. It took too long to get to the good stuff and almost made me quit reading- I’m glad I didn’t!
THE!! CUTEST!! STORY!! EVER!! writing felt soooo beautiful! loved the tropes, too! although, there was this issue i couldn't just brush off. the love interest! it felt so weird reading him and i didn't like him one bit.
I really enjoyed this book! Lucy has the opportunity to buy her grandmother's home which is where she grew up as a child. Zach is also interested in buying the house which obviously does not sit well with Lucy.
Zach is actually her yoga teacher that just took over her classes and she is not a fan. Zach has the loan but no down payment. Lucy has the down payment but can't get approved for a loan. Time to work together and make a deal. They agree to buy the home together. Opposites completely attract in this hilarious story and it's so fun to read about them falling in love!
Thank you for the advanced e-copy! This book was a solid 3-stars for me. I just didn't find Lucy very likeable, despite her arc. I really loved Zack though, and their tension and banter! The slow burn definitely paid off in the end. Loved the forced proximity done in such a unique way with sharing a house!
Firstly, the protagonist in this book is SO unlikeable. From the very first scenes where she ruins her best friends hen party AND wedding, I started to dislike her. However I wasn’t going to hold that against her as we love good character development so I waited and waited and waited for her to have her redeeming moment, but she just stayed selfish through the whole thing. She has multiple chances to make it up with her best friend but she yet again neglects her for her career, and we’re supposed to be happy when that friend gives her yet ANOTHER chance? No sis, be free of this selfish woman!
The pacing also feels really off in this book. We spend a long time pre-Zack and a lot of time focusing on her career post-Zack but the actual ‘enemies to lovers’ romance part is really rushed. She seems to be enemies with him because he’s *checks notes* into meditation and is a vegan? Then all of a sudden they’re kissing. I also found a lot of the humour to be a bit forced and some of the references seemed to be in there just to make the character seem ‘quirky and random’ but it fell quite flat when she was so unlikeable.
This book just wasn’t for me unfortunately!
This book was a struggle. Finding a character to like was quite difficult for me. Again, the constant miscommunication was too much. Lucy was always assuming something and it just got annoying.
Lucy wants to buy her grandmothers house but can’t afford to. Zack -her yoga instructor who she is not a fan of- was the other offer on the house but he can’t get approved for the loan either. He convinces Lucy to pool their money and to purchase the home together. They will go from enemies to much more in no time. This book was an easy read and it would be great to take on a beach trip. The plot doesn’t seem believable but the story was cute. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
This is a fun, extremely readable book. There is the perfect amount of comedy, romance and angst. One downside was the bummer best friend, Katie. While they do work things out, a friend with those kinds of ultimatums is not really a helpful ally.
This book has one of my favorite tropes, enemies to lovers, however I didn't feel like it successfully delivered. The main characters are Lucy, an uptight interior decorate and Zach, a yoga instructor. Lucy is just way too snarky and it makes her unlikable. I think that her attitude is what makes the chemistry off between her and Zach. This book has so much potential, but it just fell short. I give this book 2.5 stars.
The premise of this book was very promising but unfortunately it fell into the ocean of romcoms which try to set a special tone but fail. The enemies-to-lovers was poorly executed and the characters grated on my nerves.
Lucy is a career-driven woman who is stuck with her yoga instructor for a roommate in hopes of securing her childhood home. All is well until we get a glimpse into Lucy's character. She was so unlikable and annoying I wanted to throttle her. She was constantly judging Zack and making assumptions about his life without talking a damn second to try to get to know him, she almost ruined her friendship with her best friend over a work call and she basically embodied all that miscommunication represents.
Zach was cute and fun but not enough to balance Lucy's shitty personality, the banter was lukewarm but doesn't classify as witty and worthy of an "enemies-to-lovers" title and the romance buildup was unbelievable because of how the characters interacted throughout the book.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!
Stuck with you is an enemies to lovers trope. I wish the first part of the book with Lucie at her best friend’s bachelorette party wasn’t a part of the book. I feel like I know several workaholics but find it far fetched they would sit in the bathroom at their best friends bachelorette party with their laptop while sitting on the toilet to work. Instead I wish more time was spent on Lucie and Zach’s relationship. Special thanks to NetGalley and
publisher for a copy of the E-book in exchange my pure honest review.
Stuck With Him had me hooked by the description alone. Enemies-to-lovers? Forced proximity? Check, check! This book was a fast, fun, witty read that had me giggling at the antics of both Lucy and Zack. The whole premise reminded me of a rom-com movie and think this book would make a great one! If you’re fans of The Hating Game or Lease on Love, this should be your next read! Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the advanced copy. All opinions are my own.
Stuck With Him by Danielle Owen-Jones was good, but not great. It follows main characters Lucy and Zack. Lucy is a workaholic who is extremely hard on herself to keep her business afloat. Zack is a laid back yoga instructor who goes with the flow. The two create an opposites attract romance after deciding to buy a house together.
I found this book hard to get through. I had difficulty wanting to pick it back up after I'd set it down. Lucy is an unlikeable character who puts herself first over all of her friends and family- even at her best friend's wedding ceremony.
The premise itself actually sounded really unique and I was excited to pick this book up, but once I started, I realized that this book was just not for me. I don't think the book itself was bad, it just didn't have anything special. I tried to get through this book as best as I could, but it was a challenge slugging through this book.
Overall, I wouldn't say it was a bad book. It was only mediocre. I could maybe recommend to fans of romance and enemies to lovers. I gave this book 2 stars.
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC!
I was so surprised by this one in the best way! I will never get sick of a close proximity romance, especially when it’s a romcom.
These two characters couldn’t be any different, and it leads to such a fun love story. Zack is an easygoing yoga instructor and Lucy is a workaholic with unsupportive friends – which leads to her being extra frustrated and overwhelmed.
This is such a fun read!
I really didn’t like this one. I’m sorry to say it, but I had to force myself through these chapters and did not really find it satisfying.
The characters are extremely dry, each of them holding to the one characteristic they were introduced with. I wasn’t interested in the romance, which was a shame! Usually, I love easy romances and can speed through them in just a few days, but this one stretched out and didn’t seem to finish. I kept closing the book, which is not a good sign.
I wanted to love this book, I really did! But unfortunately it just wasn’t for me.
