There were so many things I loved about this storyโthe positive fat rep; the open, healthy sexuality and confidence of the female protagonist; the quiet pining of the male protagonist. The structure of the slow-burn romance was unique, and I found it fresh and surprising. (Yes, even with the time jump!)
However...
The romance itself, when they are *finally* together, didn't quite work for me. Ack! I especially struggled with the conflict at the end.
I also think that this story is best read *after* the others in the series. I read (and really enjoyed) Book 1, but I haven't read Book 2 yet, and I felt like many of the group texts held too many inside jokes that I didn't appreciate enough because I was missing some of the background/context.
That cover, though. ๐
Overall, there is something I really like about Olivia Dade's writing style. I'm looking forward to reading whatever she writes next.
RATING: B

Olivia Dade is always a go to when I am looking for a sweeter romcom with fantastic representation. Truly the queen of plus size representation.

Maria and Peter are co-stars, but that's not the only thing that brought them together. Several years ago, they had a steamy one night stand where Maria disappeared the next morning without a trace. Now, back together for the next six years filming on a remote island, tension and chemistry sparks between the two--but Peter wants nothing to do with Maria after she ghosted him. As filming begins to wrap up, they once more are unable to deny their attraction and find themselves together, but distance in the real world could end up ultimately keeping them apart.
Ship Wrecked features not just a plus size female lead, but also a male one. A common pitfall when it comes to a lead with that body type is that the internal conflict and overall struggle throughout the narrative is "but can someone love me for who I am inside despite how I look externally?" Which, as a plus size person, is horrible to find not only in your own real life, but the fiction that you escape into.
I loved Peter instantly. Strong and stoic, he feels deeply but keeps it inside tucked under his grumpy exterior. His vulnerability is what made me love him most. Their chemistry is palpable, and steamy from the first opening line. His vulnerability is what makes me love him most as a character. Not only is the story swoon worthy, but had me laughing and tearing up as you go through their journey as a hopeful couple.
While you could read this as a standalone, I would definitely suggest picking up the prior two books first. There are many reoccurring characters and it does tend to get a little overwhelming from time to time with all the names.
Thank you to Olivia Dade and Avon/Harper Voyage for the ARC!

Love the tropes - hollywood romance and second chance romance are my go tos. It was sweet but not my favorite.

I think this was my favorite book so far in this series! I love the main characters they are both so sweet and I hope in their fictional world they live happily ever after! I will read anything this author writes. If you are looking for something sweet, sexy, and full of hope, don't look any further than Olivia Dade!

The slow moving beginning moved to a fun banter between characters of different places. Enjoyed the book.

This book finished out the series so well!
Maria has a one night stand with the man who ends up becoming her co-star on a fantasy show, that will shoot in a remote location for 6 years. She left him without a word, and he's upset about it. She'd be glad to pickup where they left off, but he won't have it.
Peter really felt something for Maria that night, and when she was gone in the morning, he was so sad. When he saw her again so soon and unexpectedly, he acted like a total jerk, and that set the tone for their next few years on set.
Maria and Peter both approached acting, and its importance in their lives, in very different ways, and this led to tension throughout. Maria was happy with her life, even without her job, but Peter only felt like he could prove he was SOMEBODY, through his work. Most of these differences came from their family situations and upbringing, and were understandable.
For a book that starts with a bang, boy was this a SLOW BURN! Their tension was palpable during the entire story, and I couldn't wait to see them come together again. Their connection and feelings were so hard won, and I adored them together, even when they were making boneheaded decisions.
While I didn't love this one quite as much as the earlier 2 books in the series, it was still wonderful, and I'm so glad I read their story. The final section of the book was like a big extended epilogue, catching up with all the beloved characters in the series, and I loved it so much. I can't wait to see what this author has for us next!

The banter in this book absolutely crushed it. I was bent over laughing during the majority of the book.
Maria and Peter have a one-night stand the night before what will be the most significant break in their lives. Throughout this book, we see there timeline in Gods of the Gates progress where the other three books began. Maria will not let Hollywood change her or Peter and Peter will do whatever it takes to keep his job. This book really forces you to look at the circumstances in your life and realize that you need to stay true to yourself.
Why I loved this book:
~Single POV
~One Night Stand
~Forced Proximity
~Slow Burn
~Social Anxiety Rep
~Game of Thrones vibes
~Body Positivity
~Fighting the Patriarchy/Hollywood Standards

I really liked the concept of this! Books centered around celebrities/ movies/ tv shows always get me! I liked the characters, but it just wasnโt a stand out story for me.

So I didnโt love this as much as the other titles by the author that Iโve read, but it wasnโt bad. I donโt know what exactly was missing for me, but it was.

A satisfying conclusion to the saga. As ever, no one does interstitial material, inside jokes, or fat rep as well as Dade. The emphasis on the GOD OF THE GATES โfound familyโ (except for Ian) was an especially sweet way to wrap up the seriesโand that watch party epilogue for the season finale was *chefโs kiss.*

4 stars!
The cover art for this book is soooo cute!! I read Spoiler Alert a year or so ago and thought it was very charming and so I was so excited when I got approved for the ARC of another installment in this series. I kinda loved how this book delved even further into the shows all these characters have been involved in and I really felt the chemistry between the two of them. I loved loved loved the female main character and I'm so excited for more that Olivia Dade writes!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Shipwrecked is part of a series that I have really enjoyed, and I liked this one a lot because it broke the mold of the first two. The second book felt very similar to the first, but this one is a completely different story with characters I really enjoyed. After a steamy one-night stand, two actors find out they will be working on a show together, filming on a remote island for the next six years. This story (like the two before it) had great plus-sized representation and body positivity, which was very refreshing to see in a popular romance series. I also really enjoyed how fleshed out the characters were. Overall, this was very enjoyable.

Two actors play a slow burn romance on a Vikingโs like Game of Thrones show but try to deny their feelings off screen.
This book was so cute! I adored every moment of it. Maria (FMC) is so GD fierce. I love her. She doesnโt put up with anyoneโs shit but stays so professional about it. Sheโs body positive & uses her platform to let everyone know, sheโs fat and nothing is wrong with being fat. We start off in the middle of some bedroom action & what was meant to be a one night stand turns into a years slow burn due to them being cast on a fantasy show as love interests who are ship wrecked on a deserted island. The growth of both characters (especially Peter) was so well done and their banter on and off the screen are what all fan fiction writers thrive from.
I donโt read much contemporary romance but this hut the spot for me. I got a sprinkle of fantasy from their show roles and the usual romance aspects to a sweet contemporary romance. I canโt recommend this more!
Many thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for a review.

I received an ARC copy from Avon publishing in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.
It is sad to say that it took me this long to get to this book and read it. I enjoyed the banter and the chemistry that the main characters had together. I did not love the spice level however that was my person taste having nothing to do with the actual story itself. I thought that the author did a great job with these characters and making them interesting to read about. I felt like there was a little something missing from the plot but I cannot put my finger on exactly what it was. It just felt a little off. Overall, It was a fun read and enjoyed most of it. The spice level is high in this one if you are a non-spice reader look out!
Maria's one-night-stand--the thick-thighed, sexy Viking of a man she left without a word or a note--just reappeared. Apparently, Peter's her surly Gods of the Gates co-star, and they're about to spend the next six years filming on a desolate Irish island together. She still wants him...but he now wants nothing to do with her. Peter on the hand, realizes that he will not give up a lead role for a lady. He knows this role could finally transform him from a forgettable character actor into a leading man. He also knows a failed relationship with Maria could poison the set, and he won't sabotage his career for a woman who's already walked away from him once. Given time, maybe they can be cooperative colleagues or friends--possibly even best friends--but not lovers again. No matter how much he aches for her. A few years later, one night their chemistry explodes into a hot mess once again. However, this time they still have not figured out what the future holds for them since they are both going their separate ways. Maria's heading back to Sweden and Peter is heading to Hollywood. Will they figure out a way to make this work?
Content: On page sex scenes that are graphic, had to skip through those scenes (because of my own person taste).

This is my first book by this author, and well I did like it, I didnโt love it as much as I was expecting to. I have heard amazing things about this book and the author in general. While this book wasnโt for me, I can definitely see why others enjoyed this - this also wonโt be my last from this author.
This is the third book in a series, and while you could technically read them out of order, I do wish I would have read the previous two beforehand. There were some things I was confused about that Iโm sure were discussed in the other books.
I did enjoy the second chance trope, but I just didnโt connect with the characters or their chemistry. I will say, this book had a great representation of plus-size characters.
While this book wasnโt a fav for me, there were still moments I fairly enjoyed. I do want to go back and read the first two books.
Thank you so much NetGalley and Avon for the review copy in exchange for my honest review!

The plot and synopsis pulled me in despite not having great luck in the past with Olivia Dade romances. I struggle with connecting with her characters. Maria and Peter were no exceptions. The pacing was completely off and it was difficult to be invested in the story with such confusing timelines. I just couldn't grow to care about these characters at all.

While itโs book 3 in a series, you donโt need to necessarily read the other 2 for background on the characters. I love the inclusion of a plus-size FMC & the complete adoration the MC has for her. I love that this book shows that plus size women also have this wonderful experiencesโone night stands included

I think this book and the writing style were just not up my alley. I had to DNF it at around 40%. I was excited for the whole aspect of it, and though it took me a while, I just could not push through with the rest of the book unfortunately.

Ship Wrecked is the third book in a trilogy and silly me requested an ARC before reading the second book in the series! I finally read that, All the Feels, last December, but then it took me seven months (and an embarrassing number of library check-outs) to listen to this book. Peter and Maria end up being co-stars after a steamy one-night-stand. They work together platonically filming their TV show for many years until the final scene they have to film, which is, of course, a sex scene, leads them both to realize their mutual feelings still hold. Iโm not always a fan of second chance romances, especially combined with a very slow burn, but the chemistry between the two was hot and the eventual spicy scenes were hot hot hot. The story emphasizes body positivity and allows the FMC to stand strong in her beliefs and not cower to the beauty standards the directors want to enforce. Refreshing!
Thanks to Avon & Harper Voyager for the ARC via NetGalley even though I ended up listening to the audio from my library. The audiobook was excellent, especially with the pronunciation of the Swedish words that Maria uses to make fun of Peter - great work Kelsey Navaroo! I wish this had been a little shorter because the length (404 pages, 12:27 audiobook) made it appear daunting and a bit too slow of a slow burn. Spoiler Alert, the first book in the series, was my favorite. If youโre a fan of Hollywood behind-the-scenes stories and/or fanfiction, it may be a fun series for you to check out!

If you like any of Olivia Dade's work, this will not disappoint. I am not the biggest fan of second chance romances and that mixed with the slow burn (6 years of slow burn), I thought this might be a bit too eh for me. But it was anything but! The chemistry between Maria and Peter is so wonderful and interesting that I could have read even more. I love the setting being Hollywood adjacent (since they are filming a show) but the backdrop is actually an Irish island and that gave it such a magical vibe.
