I fell in love with Sasha Peyton Smith when I watched an author interview with her and I was convinced I would love her books even if they weren't my favorite genre. I do love fantasy - and witches in particular. I feel like this once again had some pacing issues like the first one and I still didn't feel super connected with any of the characters.

I like the Witch Haven quite a bit but unfortunately the sequel didn't quite hit for me. I get that it was needed for a full story, but Frances was much more annoying in this one to me. I really needed her to be over Finn and was frustrated that they ended up being fated loves. The Paris/Catacombs setting was fun though!

A wonderfully epic sequel to The Witch Haven with a beautiful cinematic setting in Paris with our main character left struggling with her magic not working well at all. The mystery around why, the clues they followed, and the emotional struggle of trusting Finn no matter how much Frances does not want to.
Final Verdict:
A lot of emotion pours off the pages of this second book in a duology series; the ending, though final, does leave you wanting more of this world. The cost to save the world is almost too much to bear as it unfolds on the pages. The author is talented in drawing you into an emotional bond with the story.

I struggled through the first book, so I put off reading this one for forever - but I enjoyed it so much more than the first Witch Haven book! First, I think one of the best things about this book is the environment; Sasha Peyton Smith is fantastic at describing the setting in a ethereal way that make you really feel encompassed by the setting.

I was definitely more investing in this story line - trying to close the veil - the characters and relationships, compared to the first novel. I feel like it is likely because I didn't love the world building for the first book.

Overall, this was fast-paced - if a bit on the long side - and much more entertaining than the first novel.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for granting me free access to the advanced digital copy of this book, as this book has already been published, I will not share my review on Netgalley at this time.

In my pregnancy I shifted my reading time to baby research and was not able to review what was on my shelf. I apologize as I know the number of copies you can give out is limited and would never have intentionally ignored this copy under normal circumstances. I am rating this as 5 stars as it is not the author or publishers fault I was not able to meet this timeline, and hope that you will give me another chance in the future to review as I am back into my regular reading schedule this year after adapting to the newborn life! I absolutely LOVED The Witch Haven and have purchased a copy of this so I can review it on my bookstagram page as well.

“I wish you'd give me forever.” Sasha Peyton Smith is just someone who was born to write. I absolutely adored her first book, and felt the same with her second book. Her debut novel was something that I thought was close to perfect, and I felt like the same energy came across with her second. I am someone who is a sucker for witchy books so I have read a lot of them, and this is up there in the ones that I think are the all time best. The atmosphere created, the characters, the drama, the suspense and everything in between was just SO GOOD. I definitely need to buy a physical copy so this book is forever on my shelf because it makes my bookish heart so happy.

I loved the adventure, the rhythm, the development the main character Frances goes through. Most of all I loved the message of fate not controlling our choices in life and our actions. Some plot elements echo the first book, but the story totally enthralls and absorbs you and this is exactly what I'm looking for in a fantasy book.

wowowow. I was not expecting this to captivate me as much as it did. Mystery, intrigue, magic, and wonder fills this books every page. An enchanting sequel to what was already one of my favorite books of the year last year. I love seeing how the relationships blossomed in this book, it felt very character driven whereas the first book felt more plot driven. Perfect as a spooky szn read. Read this if you love magic, themes of grief and love, and a super bada** FMC!

This book read a little younger YA than the first book. I also felt a little disconnected with the second book being set in Paris

I was lucky enough to have received an arc of book 1 of this series, Witch Haven, and was super excited to find that I received an arc of this sequel as well! It absolutely did not disappoint. This was a very strong continuation of Frances' story. The world Sasha Peyton Smith built is rich and beautiful and it was great to be thrust into it again and enjoy the magical Parisian vibes. With regard to the story, I through it tied up all the lose ends perfectly. I loved the dive into Frances' trauma and her emotional growth. I'm not sure if there will be another addition to this series but if there isn't then this was a great conclusion.

Thank you so much to Netgalley and Simon and Schuster for giving me this arc in exchange for my honest review!

Fans of Smith's The Witch Haven will be just as engrossed with this sparkling sequel. This felt like a worthy continuation of the story, with wonderful character growth for Frances as she deals with the aftermath of her actions and experiences from book one. This book deal with themes about learning to love and allowing yourself to be loved in return, flaws and all. I'm excited to see what Smith writes next.

Great sequel to book one! The author kept the same fantasy and folklore from the first book, and it drew me in and kept my attention. I couldn't put it down!

Such a great second book! I thought there would be more suspense but even though there wasn't I still really enjoyed the whole book!

Welcome to my stop on Turn the Page Tours’ release celebration for The Witch Hunt, book two in The Witch Haven series! Today I’ll be sharing my review of the series but be sure to head over to my blog (link in bio) for a chance to win your very own copy of The Witch Hunt!

While this series is a little slower in its plot pacing, I appreciate the attention and detail that is in every page! I find that the slower tempo actually allows for the mystery plots to build and become even more exciting than a super fast pacing would accomplish. Slow paced books, when done successfully like The Witch Hunt and The Witch Haven have the potential to really enchant readers, as they have done to me!

I especially love the historical fiction and fantasy crossover elements in this series! Historical witches are (in my opinion) the most fun to read about, especially when they’re solving mysteries and discovering truths about their own powers. After the ending of The Witch Haven, I was so excited to jump straight into reading the sequel. Luckily, since I waited a year to start reading the series, I didn’t have to wait at all!

My Recommendation-
If you love reading witchy books during the fall months, now would be the perfect time to snag copies of The Witch Haven and The Witch Hunt! I would especially recommend this series to fans of The Discovery of Witches!

I love when I enjoy a sequel to a book almost more than the first, and this is true for me with The Witch Hunt. So many of the characters we loved in the first and wonderful new characters as well, this story sees our witches as they travel to Paris to find why their magic is going haywire. This story has it all--adventure, magic, romance. Thoroughly enjoyable.

The second book in the Witch Haven, has Frances and friends from hexahaven academy going to Paris. I would recommend you read these books in order.
I loved the first book and the sequel dug more into being more emotional as it shows Frances vulnerabilities of her past and her fear of becoming a fraud as her magic is disappearing.

If you like – no if you LOVE books about witches, you’ll definitely want to read The Witch Hunt (and The Witch Haven, which comes first in the series) by Sasha Peyton Smith.

I have to say, I adored Maxine. I loved how irreverent she could be and the way that you could tell that she cared deeply for Frances and Lena.

I was also very fond of Frances and of Oliver. I think they make an adorable couple, even if they might not be quite sure exactly what they are to each other.

I had a difficult time putting this book down to do things I needed to do around the house. While the book might seem to start off slow to some people, trust me, once it picks up, it zooms by. You won’t know what hit you. I find it difficult to talk about the book without giving anything away but I have to address one plot point that I loved.

I loved that Frances’s magic was on the fritz. I loved that her magic wasn’t perfect, that it didn’t always work the way it was supposed to. So many stories involving witches and/or magic end up with the magic-user’s magic always being perfect and working precisely as it should that it can make for a very boring story. But Frances having her magic not work properly made this story all the more interesting.

I give this one a solid 4 stars. I highly recommend it. I’m planning to re-read it again very soon.

Frances is now a teacher at Haxahaven. She and Maxine are traveling to Paris and picking up their mutual friend Lena on the way. They travel six days on a fancy ship then stay at Maxine’s family home once they reach Paris. Frances hasn’t told Lena and Maxine that she received a letter from Finn or that she wants to visit her father who abandoned her family when she was young. She meets her father and is underwhelmed with his reaction and his personality. Finn doesn’t evoke trustworthiness but Frances feels that she has to work with him to fix the damage the two of them caused when reaching the veil and speaking to her deceased brother William. Frances and her friends are determined to fix the magic problem caused by the veil breach and they need all the help they can get. Likeable characters! 4 stars!

OH MY GOD!

As always thanks Simon and Schuster Children's Publishing for sending me an advanced copy of this book. I am such a huge fan!!!

The ending, oh the ending....

I fell in love with The Witch Wave and I was so excited to read the sequel. It definitely didn't disappoint. It was a bit of a slow burn and I was happy to give it 3 or 4 stars. But the last few chapters bumped it up to a full five stars.

I can't stop thinking about it. I can't believe this journey is over. I can't wait to see what Sasha does next!
