Such a fun, fiery, and flirty story!
Cat is now one of my all-time favorite leading ladies. Her tenacity is so amazing. Imagine being a newbie in the music industry and still having the audacity to stand up to the big men and fighting for what is right. GAH! I love her. I love that she made Galan loose his tongue (we would say that in Spanish for anyone that has their daylight shocked out of them)
They're dynamic is so fun and flirty. I love that Cat used to crush over him and is now singing and songwriting with him. I love creative couples in their element creating art together.
The thread of family is still important in this novel, making family proud, and making your wins, everyone's wins is also a beautiful element to this book! I loved it so much!

After reading West side love story, this book was a highly anticipated one for me.
I loved that the pace is not so much of a slow burn like the previous one. The interaction and chemistry was there at all times and this series is getting better with each new story.
That first kiss set up a high bar for the whole book and I’m here for it all. The close proximity part, the challenges they set to each other, all had so many enemies to lovers vibe that had me glued to the screen.
A great romance for all the fanatics of the genre

Unfortunately, this wasn't my favorite Priscilla Oliveras. First, I felt it dragged a bit - and I'm not talking about the slow burn of the romance - but the story in general just felt very slow moving.

I did love the heroine - she was fiesty, strong and cared about her family and what she was represented. However, she was a bit too stubborn, which did cause some annoyance throughout the story.

I felt like the hero needed a bit more development. He has writers block and issues with his father - but he never felt like a fully formed character, if that makes any sense? His feelings seemed to come on quickly.

However, I did enjoy learning more about mariachi culture!

Overall, I still adored Priscilla Oliveras and will always read her books, but this is not one I will be highly recommending to others.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.

This is a sweet novel, set in a fun mariachi music scene with a badass female lead. Unfortunately I found it a little slow - it didn’t grip me. I think this might be due to the 3rd person voice internal monologues. I’m sure it will come across differently to others, as I personally prefer a fast pace.

Things I liked:
- Catalina was a fierce lead
- This author is incredible at including Spanish throughout and making it totally understandable and accessible - this was my favourite thing about the book
- Learning about a new-to-me music scene

Things that didn’t work for me:
- The family tensions and backstories for both leads felt undercooked - it didn’t justify Catalina’s “rule” enough for me
- Catalina was a little stubborn at times, to her own detriment
- The book felt slow - simplistic writing and too much “thinking”

In short: cute story and premise, just a little slow for me.

simplesmente perfeito, 5 estrelas e favoritado ✨

I’m a big fan of Priscilla and have read many of her books. Her writing is beautiful, engrossing, and fresh. Her characters and their families have found a home in my heart. Honestly, I’ve loved each of her books, but this is now my favorite. This charming romance delivers the deep passions between two people, the undeniable tensions that pull them apart, the love and pressure of family, and the relentless drive of the music industry. All that, plus Patricio and Catalina set the stage and the pages on fire—musically, emotionally, and with their red-hot chemistry. The last scene!! No spoilers, but read this book for that final, beautiful, heart-in-your-throat, tears-down-your-cheeks, smile-on-your-face scene.
I adored every moment of this read. It put joy in my heart. And there is no better compliment than that for a romance. I can’t wait to read more about this family and these wonderful sisters. Next, please!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

Oh my goodness, never did I ever think I was going to need a mariachi romance in my life… but holy moly, I don’t know why I didn’t read anything by this author earlier.

This book is full of Mexican culture and for those who don’t know, I love reading about my own culture. I loved the mention of mariachis as they’re so popular in Mexico and a romantic fictional story was all I needed.

I still need to go back and read West Side Story, but I’m already obsessed with this series and author.

Kiss Me, Catalina follows Catalina and Patricio - who also happens to be a famous mariachi artist. Both of them are talented musicians, and Catalina is more than eager when she’s offered an opportunity to work with Patricio by writing some songs for him. As they both go on tour together, they soon find out that there’s a romantic feeling between the two.

This story was a bit of a slow burn, but that didn’t bother me at all. I felt the character development was major and I felt so attached to them. I really loved this whole idea of the mariachis falling for each other, gosh I’m so glad this book and series exist!

I loved Patricio so much, I do think he was my favorite. He was so full of himself - in a good way - and was such a gentleman. He was so respectful and was a huge flirt. I loved the relationship between the two and was rooting for them the whole time.

I will always pick up a book with Mexican representation, and I’m so glad this was a successful one. I loved the story and the romantic moments between our characters. Also, the culture and mariachis had me so intrigued and invested in the story. I cannot wait to continue reading more from this author. I highly recommend this book for a fun mariachi romantic story with Mexican representation.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the review copy, all thoughts are my own!

After 50+ days of trying to finish this book, I am calling it, at the halfway mark. I’d not have waited this long if it was not a NetGalley book that I needed to review, and as such I wanted to give it an honest shot.

I’m not sure what it is I don’t like about this book… But I just cannot get into it. I don’t like the main character… I find her arrogant and I’m not overly fond of the male lead either. I’m finding the book flat and I simply don’t care how the story ends…And that’s usually a good sign to stop.

Additionally, the book has random words in Spanish tossed in that I don’t understand and have to look up or glean from context, which is not adding to my reading experience.

Life is too short to spend reading something I am not enjoying.

Thank you to NetGalley for the arc. This review is wholly my own.

Priscilla Oliveras is a favorite of mine and I could not wait to dive into this one.

Mariachi - need I say more!? Cat follows Patricio on his 7-week concert tour.

There is the classic I hate you/I love you storyline that can sometimes feel repetitive, but Oliveras knows how to do it right.

I love the rich Mexican culture, the strong families and especially the love story at the center.

Highly recommend!

I read this book as an ARC.

I really like how Priscilla writes, her stories are good and the characters are likable, Kiss Me, Catalina has everything i like in stories, good characters faithful to themselves. However there is something I don't like about her stories, the way she writes the Spanish, Every time a character speaks spanish, she translates it example:
-Te amo- he loves me, he said. The amount of spanish used doesn't require translation, for me it makes it less natural. Other than that I loved this book, the relationship between the main characters is so good, they own my heart.

I have read multiple books from Priscilla Oliveras this summer so reading Kiss Me, Catalina as an ARC was really exciting!
I bought West Side Love Story as part of Amazon's First Reads and it was great. I did not (and still don't) have comprehensive knowledge and mariachi and Latin culture but reading these two books was really great.
Kiss me, Catalina is the second book in a series of interconnected standalone surrounding a group of sisters - the Capuleta's. Following the women's win in the Mariachi championship in the previous book, Catalina has been offered a contract to work with a record label, going on tour with Patricio Galan a famous pop and mariachi singer. To Cat, he's an arrogant and attractive man that she used to fangirl over as a teenager. Their back-and-forth banter was amusing to watch but their chemistry was also fierce. Priscilla wrote a book about finding a balance between achieving success and fame while balancing family and personal relationships.
The reason I did not rate it a 4 or 5 star was because of the lack of communication trope. Throughout the entire book, Patricio and Cat had fantastic communication especially when it came to their families and careers. The conflict at the 80% mark was due to Cat hearing a small part of a conversation and immediately deciding she hated Patricio. I think this could have been avoided completely if the author followed their journey of fantastic communication right until the end.
Important issues were discussed throughout such as adoption, family, sexism, and women's fight for recognition in a previously male-dominated field.
It was great getting insight into a second Capuelta sister. Cat was a firecracker in the previous book and was even more so in this one. Patricio broke down her walls and gave her the opportunity to be vulnerable. Their chemistry was fantastic although their foreplay was fiery and descriptive, the sex scene itself was fade to black! I think the author writes great spice and could have included the full scene.
Thanks so much for the chance to read and review this before its release!

Catalina Capuleta is apart of an up and coming all female mariachi band of sisters. Patricio Galán is superstar mariachi royalty whom Catalina has the exciting opportunity to tour with for the next 7 weeks!

The slow burn between Catalina and Patricio is enchanting. Catalina realizes that by becoming a professional singer-songwriter; she can now take care of her family. She isn't going to let her feelings for Patricio change these plans.

From the moment the story starts to the end you are able to see the wonderful chemistry between them. Their burning passion for each other comes through their burning passion for each other.

Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for the opportunity to read this story in exchange for an honest review.

Kiss Me, Catalina picks up soon after the events of West Side Love Story, but this time we follow Cat as she prepares to go on tour with Patricio. I enjoyed what we saw of Cat in West Side Love Story, so I was excited to see this book that this book was coming out soon. Cat is passionate and won't stop fighting for what she believes is right and the people she loves. I loved the female empowerment and how it relates to the Latinx community. I felt like the relationship between the two grew naturally, making me root for both of them together. Family is one of the core themes, just like in the first book, and it was great to see more of the Capuleta family and their close-knit bonds. It was also cool to see the continuation of adapting Shakespeare, with this book's nods to The Taming of the Shrew.

I look forward to hopefully reading more books in this series!

Thank you to Montlake and Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Ambitious San Antonio singer Catalina “Cat” Capuleta gets the chance of a lifetime when she joins superstar heartthrob and fellow mariachi Patricio Galán on his seven-week concert tour. Demanding and arrogant, Patricio challenges Cat on every level, as an artist and as a woman. But headstrong Cat is determined to be his match. No matter how seductive Patricio’s baritone voice, Cat’s eyes are only on the prize: success and making her familia proud.

No woman gets under Patricio’s skin like Cat. Her talent mesmerizes. Her passion is thrilling. And her drive, stemming from an old unhealed family wound, exposes a vulnerability he secretly recognizes in himself.

When the duo hits the road, the sparks don’t just fly—they detonate. Stage by stage, as each reckons with the past—and with each other’s quick-fire personalities—they bring crowds to their feet, and Cat’s long-held dreams come true. Will their road romance go up in flames? Or could making music together kindle the most rapturous love song of their lives?

Great plot, great pacing, and a voice that jumps off the page.

The author did an amazing job at authenticating the Latin culture and customs. The characters have sexual tension, depth and it makes you want to know them more . The story is good and I like her writing style. The cover is cute too

I went in blind, yet I learnt a lot about Mexican culture and mariachi bands. I admired Catalina's strength and independence, even if we were reminded of it in every syllable of the novel. I really liked Cat and Patricio's slow burn romance.

Catalina "Cat" Capuleta joins a mariachi tour with superstar, Patricio Galán for 7 weeks. Leaving behind her large family full of 7 sisters, she hits the road of her dreams.
She and her biological sister, Blanca, make a vow that they will not ever get romantically involved with a mariachi like their biological mother did. Their birth father left them all with broken hearts to continue his love of mariachi.
As the tour goes on, "Cat" finds herself getting more and more attracted to Patricio but tries holding off because of her promise to her sister.
When her father re-enters her life she learns the truth of his decisions and allows herself to finally fall in love.

This is tricky to review because I didn't know this book was the second one in a series and I admit I did feel like I was missing out at times, even if this can be read as a standalone. While I appreciate the bits and pieces of Spanish sprinkled here and there, I think it was a little difficult for a person such as myself, who's really a mega beginner in the language because it just felt like a lot of the meanings were lost on me unless I googled them non-stop. I like the idea of representing a different community, but it was hard to feel involved in the story sometimes. Some parts were super predictable also so that didn't help. I'm all for people falling into each other's arms easily, but this felt a little too flat in my opinion. This is great if you want some escapism and if you know Spanish well enough, a tad more exhausting if you're a newbie. That cover though... chef's kiss!

Kiss Me, Catalina is the second book in the series (unfortunately, I didn't know it beforehand, so I haven't read the first book about Mariana). It tells us about Catalina Capuleta, San Antonio singer and songwriter, who joins Patricio Galán, famous singer, on his seven-week concert tour. Patricio is arrogant, and he demands a lot from Cat. As you might have guessed, when Lisa and Jack go on tour, passion flares up between them.

I'm a huge fan of celebrity romance books, but I wasn't really interested in finishing this one. Don't get me wrong, this book was good. It's a cute rom-com, and I'd recommend to read it in summer. But I just wasn't really invested in that love story. There is chemistry between characters, and I loved that tension between them. But everything happened so fast. Catalina and Patricio were almost instantly interested in each other, and I personally didn't get enough pages / chapters of them developing as a couple. I want to write few more words about Cat, because she is a wonderful female character. Ambitious, badass, loves her family, knows that she's talented and knows what she deserves. She's literally amazing.

Also, I loved all that Latin representation. However, English isn't my first language, and I'm studying Spanish right now, so I don't really speak it, and that's why I had to use google translate sometimes to understand some of those Spanish words / sentences. It would be really helpful (for me) if we saw translations in English at the bottom of the respective pages.
