I love looking at the stars when I’m out with the dog. And I was thrilled that I was able to get a chapter sampler from NetGalley to review. So many pictures to look at with the history of the names. I’m looking forward to getting my hands on the full book for more information guidance to looking at the stars and planets. And we’re coming up on the warmer part of the year for the northern hemisphere.
As far as I can tell from the chapter sampler, this book looks amazing. It includes beautiful photographs and lots of maps, charts, illustrations and more. It is chock full of information about space. Even though it is a called a Stargazer's Atlas, it includes information about way more than only stars. It is a great guide to all things space related. I look forward to seeing the book in its entirety.
Really beautiful, thought + laid out book that I could see being a great coffee table book or within your own personal library. I could also see homeschooling using this as a resource.
Thank you so much NetGalley and National Geographic for providing me with a free copy of this chapter sampler in exchange for an honest review.
I’m a little biased towards National Geographic because I love their books and magazines so much. So, I was eager and excited to read this chapter sampler. The chapter sampler did NOT disappoint. I was immediately intrigued because the information was captivating, and the photographs were eye-catching. I enjoyed how the information was easy to understand, so you don’t have to worry about being an expert to enjoy this book. I thought the addition of maps and charts was an excellent choice because it enhanced the overall content. The photographs were vibrant and detail-oriented. I’m intrigued and would buy the entire book when published to finish reading it.
The pictures looked stunning. Requested. this without realizing this was a sampler. I am sure the book will be really interesting as the sampler.
I always love these National Geographic books. I would love to collect them all in physical copies. They are so informative, and the pictures are always amazing.
This book is filled with attractive photographs and informative graphics, maps, and charts as one might expect from National Geographic. The text was also interesting, incorporating easy to understand scientific explanations, history, mythology, and tips for viewing. The chapter on astrotourism seemed particularly interesting to me. I was given only a very brief sample, so it is impossible for me to judge the thoroughness of the content.
This is available as a 10.5-inch by 14-inch hardcover book and would probably be a nice gift for anyone who enjoys stargazing and is curious about science and history.
Thanks to National Geographic for providing me with an unproofed ARC sample through NetGalley. I volunteered to provide an honest review.

Stargazer’s Atlas: The Ultimate Guide to the Night Sky (Chapter Sampler)
On many a night, you can catch me stargazing. I have a favorite app (Sky View) to help me locate planets and constellations I can’t yet identify. So when I had the opportunity to preview National Geographic
Stargazer’s Atlas: The Ultimate Guide to the Night Sky (Chapter Sampler), I was delighted. The guide provides everything one’s geeky little heart could want. The science is approachable and the photographs stellar (haha, see what I did there). In addition to the star charts, sky maps of the Northern and Southern Hemispheres and the graphs one might expect, there was story telling and a chapter on astrotourism (yes, that’s a thing). Did you know that there are dark-sky preserves? If you’re more into satellites, or current and future space missions, there is something for you too. The Stargazer’s Atlas invites anyone who has ever wondered about the constellations, planets, eclipses, comets, or other galaxies to indulge their curiosity. If I had a complaint at all, it would be that I wasn’t gifted the entire volume! I think I will add the hard copy to my Christmas list!
Thank you to @NetGalley and @NationalGeographic for the privilege of reading this ARC in exchange for an honest review. It was truly a pleasure.
I know this is simply a sampler but it was stunning. I looked for the magazine shortly after looking through it. Like all national geographic magazines, it has articles but the images of space are stunning. I definitely recommend it to any astronomy and science aficionados.
A fantastic compilation of photographs, diagrams, and maps of the night sky. This book does an amazing job of combining old and new. Sections on constellations cover some of the myths associated with them as well as the galaxies and largest stars of which they are comprised. Technologies new and prehistoric are covered as well as their astronomic significance. This text will enrich any science section of regional, school, or private libraries and offers plenty of reread value. Stunning pictures make this a possible coffee table book as well.
This was a sample of a few of the chapters in this beautiful book. Filled with information , charts , maps wonderful photographs, this book is perfect for any stargazer. From the sneak peek given here I can tell this is a book I will want to buy! Glorious Universe!!!
This was a really informative excerpt. It explains the universe for young a old and contains the prettiest pictures that I could stare at forever! Will definitely grab this as a printed version. Can highly recommend if you‘re interested in the topic or just want to get some new science facts! <3
I love National Geographic and astronomy! Astronomy is such a fascinating topic. I love how National Geographic uses a mix of stunning images, historical facts, and little-known anecdotes to inspire interest and educate. This edition includes maps of the night sky, constellations, planets, and moons. This is a great guide that I would recommend to anyone interested in astronomy or for anyone hoping to inspire interest in it. Thank you to National Geographic and Netgalley for a free chapter sampler in exchange for honest feedback.
The National Geographic Society produces beautiful books; I am always sorry that through NetGalley one can only get a sample. I know that I will want to see this title in its entirety when it is published. That said, even this sample is packed with interesting information. The illustrations and photos are plentiful and add to the enjoyment of reading the book.
This title will be liked by stargazers and those interested in astronomy. It is very well done.
Many thanks to NetGalley and National Geographic for this sample. All opinions are my own.
This form of book I ebook form via NetGalley is neat but does not come together cohesively. I will check the book out once it is available to the public. As for this sample the information was interesting and I honestly wished for more but I understand the limitations of this form of book in ebook form. I will truly look forward to seeing it when it comes out though because my family loves books like this.
Stargazing is one of most favorite things to do. Since I was a child, I would sit outside and ponder the universe while looking into the night sky.
The photos in this book are amazing! The information is written in such succinct manner making it very relatable and interesting to the general population. I will definitely be purchasing this for my coffee table. Then I can sit on my couch in front of the fireplace pondering the universe.
Thank you to @netgalley and @natgeo for the opportunity to review this Advanced Reader's Chapter.
I love learning about the stars and this book looks like it will be such a valuable resource for me!
“Combining science, exploration, and storytelling, National Geographic Stargazer’s Atlas invites readers to roam the night sky for constellations, planets and moons, eclipses, comets and meteor showers, auroras, and deep-sky treasures including nebulae and galaxies—many visible to the naked eye and all with binoculars or a backyard telescope.”
I can’t say I’m much of a stargazer. I am in awe of the night sky as much as the next person, but, I also REALLY LOVE MY SLEEP.
Having said that, this book may be changing my mind.
First off, THIS BOOK IS STUNNING.
The pictures are everything you’d want in a National Geographic compendium.
The written explanations are also fantastic. They give enough description and detail to satisfy your inner weirdo, but are also clear and concise enough to not make you feel like an idiot.
4.5/5
Thanks to Netgalley and National Geographic for this Advanced Reader’s Chapter.
I can’t wait to see the rest of it.
Beautiful pictures and easy to read information about the night sky. Can’t wait to see the whole book!
