A slow-burning and suspense-filled domestic thriller. The two couples have been friends since university and the novel is laid out from different viewpoints which makes for an entertaining read and adds to the dread and confusion, who is lying, who is gaslighting who... With a huge amount of deceit and mistrust, the twists will keep you guessing right until the end. An intriguing read that will keep you on edge!

Another ‘edge of the seat’, compelling read from Sheryl Browne. Sheryl has a skill at getting into her character’s heads and portraying their fears, weaknesses and emotions. This story details the friendship of four uni friends, who later marry – Maddie and Nathan, Kiera and David - and how when Kiera, is thought to have committed suicide, that friendship starts to fall apart. Told in multiple viewpoint but with Maddie the main character, it is a gripping tale which leaves Maddie – and the reader – wondering who to trust. Sheryl draws on her own experience of gaslighting in a relationship and fear of spiders, and this shows in the writing. The continuous manipulation by someone who is gaslighting you, often with a smile on their face and a soft, understanding voice assuring you that you are imagining things, and the confusion and self-doubt it causes is expertly portrayed. Maddie wonders if she is really is imaging things, if she is being paranoid, if she really knows any of her friends, or her husband. I devoured the last few chapters, eager to know how it ended. Highly recommended.

Do I Really Know You is a thriller that follows a group of college friends 15 years after a traumatic night at university. One of the group, Kiara, supposedly commits suicide; however, her best friend Maddie is not convinced. She decides to investigate Kiara's death, as well as find out why Kiara had been pulling away from her in the months leading up to her suicide. There were parts of the book that were exciting and a few twists that I did not see coming; however, other parts were quite predictable, and I did not find the ending to be overly satisfying. Overall, it's a 2.5-3 star read.

My Review:
OMG!!!! This was definitely a roller coaster ride that I never wanted to end. There was a shock in every chapter. I was speechless by the end. I couldn’t believe it. I am no stranger to this author. I have read most of her books and have loved them all. This one was no different. I do have to say that the very beginning started off slow for me. I wasn’t sure what I had gotten myself in to. It did change and by the middle of the story this book really took off. All the characters were untrustworthy and I didn’t know who or what to believe throughout the whole book. This is what made the book great. There was an interesting plot and so many twists going on. Then came the shocking conclusion. I would have never guessed what was going to happen. I held my breathe the entire time. Sheryl Browne I can’t wait to read more of your books.

In conclusion, the plot, the characters and all the twists in this book made this book an enjoyable read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 4 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️

First things first, I admire the author’s courage in writing a story that hits close to her personal circumstances - tackling a very real fear and surviving a destructive relationship. Kudos to Sheryl Browne!

Through flashbacks, we would know that Maddie, Kiara, Nathan, and David have been the best of friends ever since their university days, having supported one another amidst their darkest fears. However, loyalties are questioned when present-day Kiara was found dead in what appeared to be a suicide. Unbeknownst to her best friend, Maddie, several events occurred in the months leading to Kiara’s death and while getting to the bottom of it, Maddie wonders if she really knew her oldest friend like she thought she had?

What I liked most about this domestic thriller is its hard look at phobias, effectively illustrating how such fears can adversely affect people’s lives, especially when embroiled in manipulative gaslighting and deceit. Anyone into psychological thrillers that go deep into marriage, love, and friendship will enjoy this!

5 stars for this engaging read!

This was a slow burning thriller and although I normally prefer fast paced thrillers it worked for this book. It was unpredictable and really enjoyable.

This book shouldn’t really come under the genre of thrillers. It’s more of the drama genre than an actual thriller.

The start and the most of the middle was slow, not so gripping. I wish the story picked up pace at some point but I was simply trying to finish the book somehow.

The character profiles were given more depth than actually required and some of them lacked depth when they were genuinely needed. Some conversations dragged on more than was actually needed for the story build up. The story tried to keep the suspense alive, but it was more like the suspense was on life support.

Maddie and Kiara were best friends in every sense of the word. Until one morning, Maddie was told that Kiara is dead and that it is ruled as suicide. After Maddie’s visit to Kiara’s apartment, Maddie starts to doubt everything she knows about her friend’s supposedly happy life. And when she discovers there’s another man in Kiara’s life she doesn’t know about, she suspects there is more to Kiara’s death. That’s when she made a decision on her own to talk to the police about it, much to her husband’s dismay which then drive a wedge between them.

This psychological thriller by Sheryl Browne will have you question your own sanity. Heart-pounding suspense every time the character was cornered. Adrenaline rushing so fast like you’re on to something when you’re close to finding the answers. But the uncertainties remain and will leave you in self-doubt much like how Maddie is. And there is that plot twist at the end. Wow! It has been nothing short of mind-blowing. And I thank the author for that wonderful conclusion. This book is truly a brilliant read.

This was an intriguing thriller, seemed to turn in a different direction than I originally thought. I kept wondering how I would feel if I were in the situation. We think we know the people closes to us. But, there are always hidden secrets. The story did start out a little slow for me, so glad I kept reading. Lots of little twists and surprises, and honestly I did not see the ending coming. Great read!

This was a slow burning psychological thriller following the events of four friends and how their lives have panned out over the years and makes you question do you really know your friends as well as you think you do

This was an intense read which had me gripped with every turn of the page and had lots of twists and turns and moments of thinking I had worked out what was going on for some shocks to be thrown into the mix.

I had high hopes for this book at the beginning! I thought it was a little dramatic (think lifetime movie vibes) & pretty predictable, but I didn’t hate it!

This psychological thriller sets the scene really well for an intriguing yet intense relationship between four friends who met at university. Kiara and Maddie are best friends and have been with their other halves, David and Nathan since then. They’ve certainly had rollercoaster relationships with each other and others however the characters failed to grab at my heart strings and as the novel is not as fast paced as I usually love, it didn’t grab me and take me on the ride promised.

When Kiara commits suicide, her friend Maddie cannot believe it. However Kiara clearly has a damaged history which dates back to her Uni days and, thereafter she’s found it difficult to adjust and her phobia of spiders has begun to rule her life at an escalating rate.

Though there are twists through the book, I had pretty much figured out the ending during the middle part of the book but nevertheless it was still enjoyable.

Mostly the descriptions are well written and increase the atmosphere of the story but occasionally I felt they held up the plot.
A good thriller and well written I just personally couldn’t get into the story. Just a little slow and unbelievable at some points.

Wow another fantastic book from one of my favourite authors, she never lets me down which I read over a weekend. The storyline was just brilliant from the very beginning until the ending which I never guessed, a fast paced thriller read with great characters who all had their own stories to tell.

In my opinion I think this is her best book yet and certainly gets my award of a 'knicker gripper'.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this brilliant ARC which I have no hesitation in recommending.

Relying on first hand knowledge, author Sheryl Browne explores what it’s like to be both vulnerable and suffer from a phobia, while at the same time, continuing to give others permission to be dismissive of one’s feelings. The result is a compelling psychological thriller.

Gaslighting is one of the many weapons Browne’s character has in their arsenal. They are hell-bent on getting their way and are adept at subtle and covert means of conning others. To them, having an advantage over others is of utmost importance. I felt the fear, had the goosebumps and increased pulse, and, yes, headed to the front door to make sure the deadbolt was on! I could not have predicted what Browne had in store for this character!

Misinterpretation of another’s body language and emotions is a common mistake, but when we focus on it, we give others ammunition to question if what we have assumed is reality or if it’s really “all in our head.” Using first person point of view, Browne allows readers to enter the minds of her characters and for this exploration, it’s perfect. The paranoia becomes exaggerated for readers and the vulnerability is exacerbated. Browne really had me full of doubts and questioning reality.

Browne’s execution is exemplary. Her twists are well-orchestrated and surprising! I’ve come to trust this author to deliver a compelling narrative with a twist I couldn’t predict. The explosive prologue had me biting my nails and feverishly turning pages…it didn’t let up until the final page! I was left reminded that just because I’ve known someone for a long time, doesn’t mean I really know them. Now, I’m left pondering If I can fully trust them, either!

I was gifted this advance copy by Sheryl Browne, Bookouture and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

Another brilliant thriller from a brilliant (and in my opinion, under rated) Sheryl Browne. Clever storyline, lots of twists and interesting characters. I've read most of the books by this author and eagerly anticipate new releases.
