I just reviewed Do I Really Know You? by Sheryl Browne. #DoIReallyKnowYou #NetGalley
I liked this book enough to finish it but figured out the story line very early in the book. None of the characters really drew me in and I think that is why I didn't feel a real connection to the story, I also thought the ending was a bit abrupt.
Wow what did I just read? Do I Really Know You? Do I really want to know?
The story has a very creepy feeling around it... if you're scared of spiders, look away -or don't! a spider is the least eerie thing you will read about in this novel.
The characters were very well built and believeable... in a twisted way, wow!
This book was insane! In the best way possible!!!
A solid 5 star read!!

Disclosure: I would like to thank the publisher and author for my advanced review copy of the book. This is my honest review
I've read a number of the authors previous works and have always found them to be enjoyable but this one seemed to be on a whole new level! It's a domestic noir at its best, its not forced or cheesy.t he characters don't make stupid decisions just to drag it all out. It's such a cleverly written and expected thriller that you genuinely don't see the final twist coming. The characters are all really well Brought to life and the whole story has such a menacing, creepy, eerie feel to it. As someone who shares on of the phobias discussed in this book, it is so easy to relate to the characters and their fears and reactions. There are a few dark topics discussed and they're done with respect and sensitivity. Not for shock value or in a demeaning way which I also found incredibly impressive. The plot moves a little slow for my liking, but it could jist be that I'm impatent and was desperate to have it all laid out and explained to me lol. This will be a hit with any thriller or domestic noir fan. Definitely one that will stick with me
I really, really enjoyed this book! I loved the storyline and the characters, and it hooked me from the first chapter.
This was exactly what you expect from a Sheryl Browne book , lots of intrigue , suspects and a fast paced read .
I really enjoyed this book . Maddie , Kiara David and Nathan have been close since their University days , Maddie and Nathan are married with young children and David and Kiara are married , when Kiara dies in tragic circumstances it us believed she has taken her own life , only Maddie doesn't believe this , she was happier than she had been in ages and this causes her to question the events leading up to her death .
Everyone at one point or another becomes a suspect and i raced through it , thinking I had worked everything out only to be proved wrong yet again . Very entertaining 5 stars from me
A slow starter but the tension builds as the story continues and I loved that the manipulator was actually the one being manipulated , while I had partly guessed the ending, it took me by surprise when the person behind everything was revealed and like always there where several twists and red herrings thrown in.
Queen of the prologue, Sheryl, didn’t disappoint one bit! The opening to this book set the tone brilliantly and send a few shivers down my spine. As a person with a severe phobia, Do I Really Know You, had me on edge. I could well understand the intensity experienced. This is psych thriller and more. It’s terrifying at times.
The mystery of ‘who’ had me double guessing throughout. Maddie and Kiara were fantastically intriguing characters, both had plenty to tell. Their pasts played a super role and I enjoyed the chapters and moments, that took me as the reader, back to those times.
I have to praise the research that went into Nathan’s job. It must have taken ages and it was so worth it.
I’m sure my heart pounded as I read some of the scenes. I think I need to go and blow into a paper bag to calm down - haha. What a story!
Great story about love and friendship and how much do you really know someone. Marnie and Kiara first met at university and have been extremely close friends ever since. Both are now married and Marnie has two children, Kiara acts as a great auntie to them both.
Marnie opens the door one morning to find two police officers asking for her. She is told that Marnie has died and it was by suicide. Marnie is shocked to the core and wonders how much she really knew about Kiara as she cannot believe she would have done this, what secrets was she keeping This then opens a big door when Marnie starts to try to discover some answers as to what was really going on with Kiara.
I really enjoyed the book, although I knew what was coming in the end and was I right in my assumptions. I highly recommend this book and once again found that Sheryl Browne has produced another story. Thank you to Netgalley , the author and publisher for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest, unbiased opinion
This was such a great book! It hits the ground running & I truly didn’t know what the resolution was going to be at first so I just kept reading. I like seeing the story develop from a few peoples perspective, mainly Maddie & Kiara, it always helps to see different viewpoints with a mystery. It’s stressful at times because of the gaslighting but that’s what the book is supposed to do, make you go nuts that you want to get to the end!
I’ll definitely read another book by the author.
I enjoyed reading this book it was well written and the author kept me guessing I kept thinking I had it all figured out only to change my mind several times and still be wrong at the end it was fantastic full of twists I highly recommend this book!
This book started a little slow for me but by the end I was hooked! I kind of figured out the ending but had many moments of doubt while it all played out. I always enjoy books by Sheryl Browne and this one was no exception!
Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy. I either really love Sheryl's books, or think they are really slow. This one did not do it for me. I ended up skimming it, figured out who the "Killer" was, and think it's just average. I did happen to see two spiders while I read this book, so that was a little creepy. Just ok.
Do I Really Know You? by Sheryl Browne examines two couples who are best friends and the deceit and lies that each of the four are carrying. I thought that the spider phobia - which was a main plot point throughout the book - was a bit over the top, but it did definitely make for a unique storyline! I’m an avid reader of Sheryl Browne’s books, and enjoy her style of domestic thrillers. This one definitely did end up surprising me even though I had it all figured out. 3 1/2 stars.
Maddie, Kiara, Nathan and David have been friends since they were teenagers. They know everything about each other, including their deepest fears. Maddie and Kiara, best friends, have drifted apart in recent months but Maddie knows her well enough that she wouldn’t kill herself. Or would she?
The four main protagonists have a shared history dating back years. Some of it not all that happy, as we find out in flashbacks. The story moves between the characters for different chapters, as well as backward and forwards in time to reveal what happened in their youth and more recently, leading up to Kiara’s death. It was an interesting domestic thriller/mystery that was well written.
I found the cover and concept of this book intriguing, but was disappointed by the writing and subject matter ( I won't be more specific due to spoilers). I read the first few chapters but quickly lost interest and did not care to finish. This might be a great book for someone else, it just wasn't for me. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
She’s your oldest friend and you tell each other everything. So you’d know if she’d done something terrible, wouldn’t you? This was definitely an intriguing and absorbing read. I really enjoyed this book and it will appeal fans of thrillers.
Do I really know you? This is a very good question and in my opinion the answer is always ‘no’. You can know a lot about someone, but never everything. Why is that? Is it because the other person does not want you to know every detail? The answer to that is ‘yes’ and ‘no’. Crystal clear, right? 😉
Yes, because it is not necessary to share everything with other people. Everybody is entitled to keep some things private.
No, because I don’t think you know yourself 100 percent. What you thought you would never want or do now, might be what you do want or do at a later time. People change and that’s why you never really know someone, not even if you see them every day, year after year.
Sometimes you hide things because you feel guilty or ashamed. Sometimes it’s because you don’t want to hurt someone. Sometimes it’s just because you want to do it your way and be selfish.
I would like to compare this story to a mountain pass in the Alps between France and Italy called the Col de Tende or the Colle di Tenda. The road includes more than 48 hairpin turns and I had the feeling there were as many in this book. 😊
I did not know who to believe. I had figured out one aspect of the story, but I was groping in the dark trying to find the answers to the other questions in my head until the bitter end.
A great book by an amazing storyteller. 5 stars
Thank you
This is one of those....do we really know our friends?
Maddie and Kiara have been friends since university and as we are taken back to there past we learn a little more of what made them the people they are.
I found this difficult to get into the book from the start, it was a real slow burner for me but i'm glad i did as the pace eventually picked up. I found myself convinced i knew what was going on several times! Finally i had worked it out but there was a great twist at the end.
Tension galore!
My thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy in return for an honest review.
A spiffing thriller that will leave you on the edge of your seat. I thoroughly enjoyed this story full of intrigue, mystery and twists and turns.
