Firstly, thanks to @netgalley & @gigiblume for this #gifted E-Advanced Reader Copy of The Hate Zone 🙏
This book centres around:
1️⃣ January Madison, a reality star & daughter of an executive. Her life has turned chaotic with her ex tweeting for attention, her bodyguard going psycho & the Internet hating on her. So when her new driver Enrique comes on the scene she reverts back to her reality star persona. They don't get on and she inadvertently starts a prank war with him... is there more to this rivalry than meets the eye?
2️⃣ Enrique Precio, a limo driver working to make his business a success whilst maintaining his integrity. Working as January's driver he comes to the following conclusions: 1. She's incredibly spoilt, 2. She's gorgeous and is willing to use her appearance as an advantage, 3. She seems to love/hate him. Despite finding her infuriating he finds himself enjoying their smart alec banter as he considers that there may be someone worth knowing beneath the facade...
What I liked 👍
● I loved Enrique and his dynamics with his friends and family.
● The enemies to lovers dynamics
● The pranks with smart-alec style banter which got me laughing
I struggled to connect with January, perhaps because I just don't watch reality shows...
Having said that if you enjoy forced proximity, enemies to lovers romance tropes & if you enjoy a nice reality show then this one's for you!

Thank you NetGalley, Gigi Blume and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed the banter between January and Enrique. There were several times I cackled reading the dialogues. While the conversation was good I had a hard time connecting with the heroine/hero. The relationship dynamics in terms of chemistry between the characters felt superficial at times. The story was cohesive but I wished there was more development in backstory for January’s family. It felt a bit rushed towards the end. In conclusion it was a fun and quick read. I’m looking forward to the other brothers in the Precio Series.
3.5/5⭐️
3 1/2 stars
An enemies to lovers, forbidden romance romcom with an endearing Hispanic family and plenty of laughs. This is the first book I’ve read by Gigi Blume and I’d give her other books a try. While it’s technically a closed door romance there’s some detailed foreplay and quite a lot of sexual innuendo. In true enemies to lovers fashion, there’s a lot of tension as well. The characters, especially Enrique and his family were quirky and fun. I loved their family relationship and it’s what I most enjoyed about this book. I also liked the harmless pranks, some involving a Nicholas Cage cutout and Saran Wrap.
January is a wealthy hotel heiress and Hollywood influencer. She’s used to having her every whim obeyed. On the surface, she appears spoiled and shallow, but underneath is a vulnerable person who struggles in her relationship with her parents and her life.
Enrique comes from a large family who runs several successful restaurants. With seven siblings and several quirky relatives, there’s never a dull moment. Loving cars his whole life, Enrique wants to start his own limousine service and thinks his life is made when he lands a job with a wealthy hotel owner. Little does he realize, he’ll be chauffeuring the daughter and not the father. From the get go, there’s a deep animosity between the two but underneath the misnaming (Enrique calls her every month of the year except January), and teasing, there’s a passionate undercurrent that becomes too hard to ignore.
The fiery passion between January and Enrique is definitely off the charts. I secretly enjoyed all the ways Enrique tries to get under January’s skin. I loved Enrique’s family and I’d read the other books just to find out what happens to the siblings. There’s some funny and also tender moments where we learn January may not be as shallow as she appears. While I enjoyed the hate/love relationship between these two, I had a hard time seeing a deeper connection other than passion and physical attraction. It also took quite a lot of chapters before I even began to like January.
All in all, a fun romcom with plenty of passionate, funny moments. I don’t normally read books with a lot of sexual innuendo and borderline sexual content (two instances where the characters stop from going too far). If you don’t mind some steam, you might like this. However, if you prefer clean romance with only kissing, you might find this too much or skip chapters 24-26. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author and publisher. All opinions are my own and I was not required to provide a positive review.
This book was a sweet and funny opposites attract, enemies to lovers romance with forced proximity and one bed. It’s told from dual POV. There’s lots of witty banter. I loved the large family aspect and the ridiculous nicknames. It’s a closed door slow burn romance. Overall, I enjoyed reading this book- it’s a light and fun read! However, I feel like it could have used a little more character growth and it felt somewhat rushed at times. But the ending has a cute reunion and who doesn’t love a good scene with chickens.
LOVED LOVED LOVED LOVED THIS BOOK!!!! IT WAS SO FUN TO READ THEM AND IT WAS WITTY, FUNNY TOO! JUST, WANTED MORE DEPTH TO IT AND THAT'S IT! OTHER THAN THAT, AMAZING BOOK!
[4.5 ★]
she's a spoiled heiress and he's her new driver, looking to start his own chauffeur company. She's his first client, but definitely not the easiest, he's not the usual casual nice driver she is used to. Right the moment they met, they were annoyed at the other person and started pranking/teasing each other.. you soon could notice the hate was starting to fade and turning into another feeling but they were both too stubborn to admit it at first.
if you love a good hate to love trope grab this book and read it, its SO wholesome !!!!
A thousand thanks go out to Netgalley and the author, for a copy of this book in exchange of my honest review <33
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an e-arc. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Loved every bit of the book. A perfect and hilarious rom-com not to mention a perfect summer read.
I was disappointed because this was so different from the novella I read that comes before this book. I felt like it took a while to get to the actual depth of the characters. They were pretty superficial. There was also more language and innuendo than in the novella.
A great summer read! Reminiscent of The Hating Game but I enjoyed it more as the two main characters had strong chemistry through their bickering. This made for entertaining and easy, page-turning fun that was hard to put down. The one thing I particularly enjoyed was the dynamic of Enrique's family--it added a lot to the story and I enjoyed those parts as much as that of the main characters.
Gigi Blume is a go to book person for me. I am reading other books from her and hooked. I can't wait for more from this author.
first of all, thank you netgalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review!
I didn't care. that was it, the entire review in one sentence. I will, however, expand.
neither character, january nor enrique connected with me. from start to finish the book felt a little like a caricature of a romance book, if that makes sense. there were times where I felt I should've been laughing or swooning or emotional and I genuinely didn't, not once. january and enrique both rubbed me the wrong way, in different ways. january irked me because of how 'woe is me' she was written (in my opinion!) and never once did I feel sorry for her. I don't think she was meant to be pitied, because in Enrique's pov he scoffs at her, but her 'woe is me' attitude irked me to no end.
Enrique, however, was downright creepy (in my opinion!) at times. when January needs a little something something to get through a dentist appointment, he afterwards commends him on not messing with her while she's drugged up. I know it was probably meant as harmless fun but the literal sentence 'Why do I have to be so freaking nice when a woman is out of sorts' is black on white in his chapter and it made me gag. WHAT DO YOU EVEN MEAN.
fine, all is well, but the ending was also wacky. they're at a wedding and she randomly gets picked up with a helicopter by her dad's assistent when some shit goes down online and they just... break up right there and then. we're then also not shown how both january and enrique's life changes, rather just told which was annoying since they both seem to grow in that time and we're just supposed to just take it for what it is. ugh.
oerall, it was fine. the book wasn't unbearable to read and it read away just fine. read this while driving your mom around for all her appointments, that way if you (inevitably) need a break from these two, its a perfect excuse to put it down.
Super cute enemies to lovers which is my favorite trope! Definitely recommend and will be reading all books by this author!
Thanks Netgalley and Sodasac Press for providing the e-ARC of this swoon-worthy rom-com book!
The moment I read the blurb, I set my expectations low for anothee hate turn love rom-com stories... but, GIRL, I WAS WRONG! This book almost has it all. Interesting characters and their own character development. The family dynamics: big family dynamics from the male MC and reconcile with estranged mother from the female MC. The chemistry and tension between January and Enrique filled with their hilarious banter, pranks, teases, and the multilingual make-out session that caught me off-guard! The dual POVs, really describing their yearning for each other well. It's worth the yearning and the tension it has build up since the first half. Though I found the ending was quite rushed, especially the missing piece of how January close the problem with his father, but I found myself giggling a lot when I read this, it's so entertaining.
This is the first Gigi Blume's books I've read, and I can't wait for the Precio brother series. Definitely will put them into my lists and recommend it to all rom-com enjoyed some!
Overall rate: 4/5
Such a cute and funny read! I loved the enemies to lovers trope and this one was done well. The main characters were at each other’s throats from the beginning. Enrique and January’s banter was top notch. A huge plus was the comedy in this one. I laughed out loud so many times.
First time reading one by Gigi Blume and I will totally read the rest in this series. So good!
Realistically, I would have given this a 3.5, but thought it was good enough to get a 4 star rating.
I enjoyed the chemistry between the two characters and them slowly falling for each other (rather than their looks). However, I felt like some of the behavior/actions of the characters felt untrue to the character or thoughts/actions/feelings were exaggerated and felt unrealistic. It WAS a cute and enjoyable read, but it just didn't feel authentic at some points.
First book in the Precio brothers series. Be ready to laugh out loud when reading this cute romance.
January's driver retired and was given the Bentley he drove as a gift. Enrique is hired by January's father, he thinks to drive him. When Enrique arrives the first day he learns he is January's driver. They push each other's buttons for all they have.
This is a sweet clean romance from Gigi Blume.
This is a great romance beach read. The chemistry between the main characters is exciting and enjoyable. I highly recommend this book.
This was a cute enemies to lovers read! While I may prefer my romance books to be a little steamier, this closed door romance still kept things spicy. January is a hotel heiress and she is thrust together with her new driver Enrique and they instantly dislike each other. Queue lots of banter and pranks.
I will say that I thought Enrique was an absolute jerk to her from the first moment he met her. Not very professional for someone trying to start his own chauffeur business. Like, he didn't even try to pretend to be nice to her for even a second. But other than that I enjoyed the book which was a quick read. I really liked the dynamics with all of the siblings and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
Fun summer read. A hate to love story with pranks played by both parties. Some things are over the top but hey it's fiction anyways so why not.
The Hate Zone by Gigi Blume is just one big swoon!
The minute I started this book I fell completely in love with this book and could not bring myself to look away from it until I’d reached the very last page. January and Enrique were simply delightful and I could not get enough of their banter and their trying to out-prank one another.
If you’re in need of a great hate to love romance then make sure you pick this one up! Trust me, you will so not regret it!
